Bregamn is better defensively but Devers is better offensively (put up almost identical total numbers in nearly 130 fewer games). So I think he’s the comparable contract, which is close to the reported number, but Bregman is nearly 6 years older than what Devers was when he signed the extension. Devers is only now entering his prime years as a hitter and Bregman will be 31 when the season starts. Bregman will get something closer to Kris Bryant, which is around 7-180.

I think you're being FAR too kind to the Machado deal. Bregman's OBS+ last year was 118. Machados was 120. Bregman was a 4 WAR player last year. Machado was a 3 WAR player. The issue with Machado as a Bregman comp is not that Machado is better - which I think he probably isn't - it's that Machado's deal is so far from sensible as to be comedic.
