Rich Hall is a comedian, writer, presenter & musician.
After catching ‘Rich Halls Hoedown’ at a festival this summer, we invited Rich & his band into the studio for a Blues Kitchen session.
We sat down to discuss how his award winning alter ego, Otis Lee Crenshaw evolved into the Hoedown & Rich opens up about the intricacies of composing lyrics on the spot as part of a live performance.
Rich & the band also perform an ace version of ‘Time To Get A Gun’ by Fred Eaglesmith

Now it’s time to pull up the RUclips video of Fred Eaglesmith at the Paradiso in NL.
Now yer talkin
Fred & Willy
Willie had his heart attack earlier and wasn’t with the band at the point which the Paradiso show took place. It features Fred’s ‘Steam band’. It’s a great unit but one that’s very different than the Flying Squirrels.
@@dunebillyofswanbeach4294 l thought l thought l had seen a video of Fred, Willy & Corey in Holland & thought that was it.
I was at 18 charity picnics in southern Ontario, those were some of the best weekends of my miserable little life;)
America gave up something beautiful when Rich Hall moved to England. The guy is phenomenal
Beautiful!
Wow, imagine finding out that the guy you saw on SNL when you were a kid has a second career because of a rare Fred Eaglesmith cover that doesn't suck! They did a great job with this cover.
What? Who TF is Fred Eaglesmith?
@@olenilsen4660 You'd better be joking.
@@johnlittle7473 Why? You don't know either?
Ole Nilson sure has a lot to learn. I hope he wasn’t too lazy to go and look up Fred.
Rich Hall......genius
It's awesome to hear this from Rich himself. I suspected as much - that he is really doing a fair bit of improv on his gigs. I love the old Otis Lee Crenshaw bits, and wish he did more. Maybe he just have too high standards, and don't think people would like some half-assed approach to the character. I think most of us would still laugh our asses off, but then again - a long lasting "secret" in showbiz is that you should always leave the audience wanting more... I'm really working against myself, because I am one of those who would never get enough of Otis. That character was just so perfectly done by Rich. I would never know if Rich or Otis was the real one if it wasn't for Wikipedia. Please give him another chance, Rich!
I've seen Fred 17 times.
Nice!
