Does the freezer have any issue like the thermoelectric freezers inside the fridge area that build up frozen condensation? Or is it like separate freezer/ fridge units where that isn't a worry?
Hi ... have you actually placed a thermometer inside the frig and freezer sections? What temperatures are seen? I have the next model up (CRX110) and the freezer section gets down to the proper temp but the frig will typically hover around 40-41 F. 40 F is simply too warm to keep most foods from spoiling. BTW, my frig, while running 45 minutes/hour, at level 4, uses 8 amps, not the 6 amps as specified. Also stating 1 - 1.5 amps per hour is misleading since that is definitely not at level 4. i.e. levels 1 - 3 are only good for keeping drinks cold. I removed it from my RV and use an ARB portable compressor AC/DC frig/freezer instead. I contacted Dometic about this ... no response. For anyone considering this, buyer beware.
Hi! Sorry to hear you're having some issues. We've not measured it but will get around to it and report back. We have not had any issues with the fridge but instead the freezer is what subjectively doesn't quite get to a traditional freezer temp. What type of climate are you in & avg. temps? I've heard that not having vent space behind the fridge can cause it to not get down to temperature as well, especially in warm weather!
I have the crx80, it's tiny, but OK for two to three days for a couple. Four days for a single. I would get a fridge thermometer if I wanted to keep meat frozen. Other than that, I'm happy with it as a fridge. I have not removed the freezer partition, I just leave fridge at one star., for economy It seems economical, draws 4 amps when first connected.
I'm pretty sure it's about 5C , I probably only open it twice a day, I buy filtered milk, and it keeps for a week, just open and close quickly. I have a milk jug for use during day rather than opening v and closing fridge door frequently
have you ever used it as a whole freezer? im looking at the cre80 which is the same but cant be a whole freezer (and also isnt quite as efficient rates 2.16ah per hour over 24hrs but i have enough solar for this and its way cheeper)
Did you have any problems removing the plastic film on the front of the door. I have a CRX 65 and the film is ripping as it is sealed into the door and I just can't get it off, it is just raggy and horrid looking.
Just installed my CRX80 fridge after reading your comment I was wary of the plastic film. You are right its a bastard as they put the film edges under the surround. I just took a sharp knife all the way around and it peeled right off.
Hey, thanks for the review. We werde wondering, how loud the fridge gets. Can you leave it on during the night? We have an old norcold fridge, cant leave it on at night though, it's just too loud.
hi will, we are looking to buy one of these too, would you tell me what type of battery you run the fridge off of and do you use that battery solely for the fridge or run other things also in the van, we have 1 x105ah battery but think we will need another one to run the fridge? we also have 2 solar panels (we think they are 60w per panel)that charge the battery, thx for video too :)
Hi Samantha! We run it off a 200ah AGM battery and we have a 335W panel, we also ran loads of other stuff from it. I've written a post on it, laptops, drones, cameras, water pumps etc! feralescape.com/sprinter-van-conversion-solar-setup/. We found the fridge used about 16amp hours per day. Hope that helps!
I bought the CRX model. Can say it was very good except the door hinges were weak. I had to tighten them multiple times to have it work efficiently before selling the campervan it was installed in
Great vid, love your jumper.. but why eggs in the fridge?! They live fine at room temp taking up less space.
Would love to see the blog you mention and or the link to recommended places to buy this fridge. Thoughts? Thanks!
Hi thanks for the vid. How do you change the door to open the opposite side
Thanks

You expect to drill holes in your fridge?

The power settings you’re on about is that the intertribal temperature settings ? I’ve a split charge since can top the battery back up ?
What to the buttons do?
Nice video and useful information. Thanks!
Glad it was useful!
Hi Feral Escape, how is the fridge holding up now after over two years ? thanks.
It's still doing great! Just as cold and efficient as the day we got it!
Hi! I was just wondering how do you change the power settings
Is this fridge not available in the US?

Bruce Denney we didn’t have any issues with this. Sounds annoying, a hairdryer might help?

It's not loud at all, the compressor comes on and off so it's silent 60% of the time.
Very quiet
The door was wrapped in such a way that the whole panel came off, and it won't fit back perfectly, so two damages on day 1😊

is it really silent?
is it noisy? at night, when it's quiet in the van, do you hear the compressor turn on? is this an issue?
We find it really quiet and it's never woken us up! Not an issue for us.
@@feralescape Thank you! will need to decide between the crx80 and an equivalent isotherm model then. cheers!
You dont keep eggs in fridge normally
For How long keep working with two batteries?
How big in AH are the batteries?
Does anyone know the difference between the CRX and CRE models?
I believe the difference is the CRX has removable icebox to convert to just a fridge, and the door can be reversed.
@@paulcrittenden2805 The CRE too, but i think it is very noisy, what do other people think?
The crx80 is v quiet

I still cannot say I know the difference between these two fridges. Maybe one is more energy efficient?
He's broken the top door blue cover, i broke mine day 1
The lower door shelf lifts out too easily
He does not review the thing, it does not hold the interior temp if the outsidw varies, which seems mad
nice video. dometic products are hideously expensive. there are cheaper options available made in China (of course).
Sadly nothing that I was able to find!
That bottom space is useless
