- The plot revolves around Aloy, a hunter and archer living in a world overrun by robots. Having been cloistered her whole life, she sets out to discover the dangers that kept her sheltered. The character makes use of ranged, melee weapons and stealth tactics to combat the mechanised creatures, whose remains can also be looted for resources. A skill tree facilitates gameplay improvements. The game features an open world environment for Aloy to explore, divided into tribes that hold side quests to undertake while the main story guides her throughout the whole world.

And to find out you are a clone of the person that created the system that remade the entire world to sustain life again.

@@nabnab9 With Aloy finishing Elisabet's work in saving the world, Elisabet can finally truly "rest." Combine this with the line being said so softly and motherly by Gaia, while the camera zooms out towards the sky from Elisabet's grave site as if there is a feeling of release. How can you not feel that?

Had to rewatch this after finishing the game. I’ll admit, the ending made me a little teary.

Me too. Such a POWERFUL and PROFOUND story.
The arc of Aloy WAS intricate. The meaning behind small causalities having MASSIVE effects on the future... So much meaning in this story. This game is a TRUE service to the public. The appreciation for nature... the attention to detail... the writers have done a fantastic job at creating an ORIGINAL and breathtaking "game".
This is more than a game to me, it seems to carry a message to humanity...

I was a little teary also watching this end scene. The emotional connection this game allows you to develop with the character amidst the beauty of the world Alloy inhabits and the epic nature of her story arc is something quite rare within console games.

The flower pattern around her is the same you find around the metal flowers in the game 😭💕

The feels
It's a fools errend to try and heal "the world". That's often how it burns. So this ending is irksome to me. Too white knight. Not enough grey. The only hint we get of that is post credits.

Even though Elizabeth died hundreds of years ago and never made an apperance, yet this moment still makes me feel so emotional. Such an amazing game.

4:36 My heart can't take it when Aloy turn her Focus on to see Elizabet's face at the exact moment when the latter said, she wanted her child to be 'curious' - Aloy carries all of that traits because GAIA created a clone exactly what Elizabet wanted her child to be. Yes she's a clone but I think Aloy would consider Elizabet to be a mother still, most players would think of them as mother and daughter despite Aloy being a direct clone of Elizabet, it's the story telling I love it, Ashly Burch is an amazing voice actor too! Can't wait for Forbidden West!!!

I was absolutely floored as soon as I saw the triangle of flowers, knowing that the metal flowers we'd been collecting all game were GAIA's tribute to Elizabet
The metal flowers weren't created by Gaia they were made by one subordinate A.I.s. Cyan tells you this in the Frozen Wilds.
Finished the game yesterday. This ending is one of the most beautiful I've ever experienced. Almost cried myself to death. HZD is an outstanding masterpiece. Thank you, Guerilla.

Wasn't sadness for me. Tears of joy. For Aloy to be affirmed of who she really is. As told by Elizabet. And the way Aloy holds that globe to her chest. Touching AF.
I love how Gaia gradually stops saying "query" when asking something, as if she's getting into the flow of the conversation and starts speaking like an actual person and friend to Elisabet
Story 10/10 i loved how the plot reflects what we are living as society right now
combat: 7/10 some melee attacks were kinda messy but i loved the weapons variety and the different ways i could use to defeat an enemy
Visuals 10/10 the world was just gorgeous

Combat was a 10/10 for me. Very smooth and very fun.
This game instantly became the best game of the decade for me and climbed high into my best of all times list

It was a very good game, but when it came to Sheer fun, I prefer BOTW by far. I have never enjoyed exploration like I Did in BOTW
@@lifeonleo1074 yeah you did. Noone cares what you find. I just completed Horizon, and no game comes as close as this game. Its outrageously good. Noone gets connection to Link. But everyone loves Aloy. Everyone can feel her pains her struggles. The story is SO much better than BOTW. Anyway. Both games are great. No doubt about this. But mark my words. HORIZON today is one of the most loved game franchises on the planet and its growing rapidly still
People admit combat is good, but i think its the best out of all the games ive played. 20 different machines, over 10 different bows, different arrows, etc. Comparing it to other triple A games(witcher,cyberpunk, etc.) it blows it out of the park

Maybe three times? She made the earth healing robots with faro (before faro decided to make military robots), then she made project zero dawn, and if you count aloy as her, she did a 3rd time in the game. Though I personally consider them two different persons (because they are)

Two amazing little details from this beautiful scene (which did make me cry) that took me a long time to really notice.
1) There's a perfect triangle of flowers around Elisabet's body. The same triangle of flowers that grow around every metal flower you find in the game. As everything is in this new world, it's Gaia's tribute to life. And it started with Elisabet's death. Every metal flower that Gaia made was her own tribute to Elisabet.
2) When Gaia asks her what she would've wished for "him or her", Elisabet puts an emphasis on "her", very noticably. Gaia could've made a male clone of her creator, but because Elisabet was obviously emphatic about having a girl, Gaia made Aloy a female clone.
Metal flowers appeared around the same time when Gaia self destructed, meaning it likely isn't Gaia that created the flowers, but Demeter. The Alpha in charge of Demeter was a poem fanatic and every flower has a poem on it. This is further implied when talking to CYAN

The saddest part about this is that Aloy and Elisabet will never meet. Elisabet would've loved Aloy like her own daughter if she could've. Now, Aloy will continue her legacy, and ensure that she is never forgotten. Rest in peace, Elisabet Sobeck.
Why did the game set us back to before the final mission when we beat the game, I thought that was so weird when I finished it and I could replay the final mission. It should have just been that there are no more main quests
I thought that too until I just realized watching this and the after credits that she left her spear in HADES and never took it back out again. We’d be running around without the ability to override machines, which is the entire gimmick.
(Why the hell did she leave the spear in there, that’s just stupid. Let’s just say goodbye to master override, who needs you)

Mees E The DLC implies that Hephaestus was behind the increasingly aggressive machines whereas the Eclipse were behind the corruption of the base game’s machines and the resurrection of the machines that literally consumed the biosphere.
My guess is that Sylens and/or Hephaestus will play some form of antagonistic role in the sequel.
It would be interesting to see each sequel deal with Aloy’s battles w/GAIA’s rogue subordinates and/or a reveal of the Odyssey’s humanity, who were given the Alpha build of Apollo, which had no failsafes to protect them from the burdens of knowledge unlike the copy Faro destroyed.
Samuel Sanchez didn’t the Odyssey blow up? I don’t think any other sub-function would go crazy the same way Hades & Hephaestus did. For a lot of them, their job is already done.
that other guy Hephaestus is still out there, though. The Firebreak turned EPSILON Cauldron was just a setback.
My mother passed away when I was a kid so I don't have many memories of her. This ending hit me like a truck. I only bought this game because I like bows and dinosaurs lol...but in the end i'm crying. I love this game so much.
It's quite the moment when she discovers Sobeck's body and you remember earlier in the game when Sobeck said she was "going home". I can't remember a game giving me chills like that.
It's such good storytelling that it ends with Aloy's own personal journey coming to a conclusion and not the overall plot. Alloy never asked/wanted to be a hero, but she took up the call to arms when it was needed to protect other people. She's exactly the person Elisabeth describes as her future child and something we should all aim for. A lot of chosen one storytelling misses the mark when it comes to the inner personal conflict and forget to make it separate from the hero journey.

Just finished this scene, had to watch it again. I was teary-eyed, Aloy saved the world!!! Now onto Frozen Wilds. I know I'll play both again from the start when I'm finished. Best game I ever played; looking forward to the new one coming out later this year.

Better late than never. Pretty shook right now in 2024 finishing this for the first time. Finishing it right after mastering Stray. Was using gaming as a band-aid but I think maybe I should take up drinking instead. Beautiful ending.
Such a good story and ending. Not needlessly convoluted and was emotional in a more personal level for the MC

Finished the game years back.. only recently returned after finally completing Frozen Wilds- and now I'm here to catch up before I play Forbidden West.. Love this game so much!
This game's ending had a similar feel from when you just finished an amazing movie and it made your heart heavy that it's over.
I don't know when, but we'll definitely be getting a movie adaptation of the game, or an animation of it. Hope they stick to the source material.
It would be a phenomenal movie as long as Hollywood didn't fuck it up. That is the issue with game adaptations.
It's 2020 and i still finding my self coming back to this game just because of how goddamn masterpiece it was,for sure one of my all-time favorite games even a top 5 in my list...great story awesome gameplay fantastic graphic..i mean..just *chef kiss*
I don't think a video game has ever moved me as much as this one. I loved the early Assassin's Creed games - especially the Ezio trilogy. Red Dead Redemption series is phenomenal. But Aloy and her story are both relateable and moving in a way I'd never expected. Thank you Guerilla.

Such a terrific ending to a fantastic game. I get emotional every time I see it. It would have been so amazing to see them actually meet face to face. Maybe we'll get a meeting of Ted Faro and Alloy. Something tells me we haven't seen the last of him.

You got your wish. Horizon Forbidden West is also a masterpiece, and adds to the original Zero Dawn in a way I love so much!
Gotta admit, I play games already around 13years now, no game touches me like this game, this game is beautiful, had a great action and adventure on it, a 10/10 long story, and the soundtrack, the sound track is perfect for the game, And this is the fucking first time a game made me cry Twice!, first when sobec sacrifice her self (when she said "it's okay, I wanna go home"+the soundtrack plays, me = swimming in tears ), and then the ending (it's just a beautifully done ending)

This game, this scene, this dialogue... So fucking wonderful
i just finished this game for the first time. it never interested me much, but i was quite surprised by how much i enjoyed playing it. to be honest, for the big part of the game i wasnt too much immersed in the story (was very busy with all the collectables and side quests). but then towards the end i discovered this whole zero dawn project. and then i was amazed by brilliant world ending scenario and this feeling of the situation back then (through listening to logs and holograms). and at this ending i really wished that elisabet somehow survived, in frozen state, missing or whatever. she really made strong impression on me, so it would be priceless to see aloy meeting with her. anyway, it was good game
I hope that in the final game, GAIA is rebuilt and brought back to life by Aloy. That would be a fitting end to such a great series.
Then you will have to be patient longer ..... The game is designed as a trilogy and "Forbidden West" is only part 2

Honestly I didn't remember if I completed the game or not but I loved it so much I was sure I had to have, after watching the ending again I actually remember beating the game twice because I also questioned if I had finished it the first time as well 🤣

Brother Alaric looks good enough especially on a well calibrated screen. The new ps4 pro patch update makes it look even better now because of the calibration tool. Now you can balance the game's picture perfectly. Anything can look better with PC mods and upgraded hardware but for the price you would have to pay, I'm happy that it's a ps4 exclusive since you get the best looking version on the Pro for a fraction of the price you would have to spend on a super PC.
On my 55 inch q9fn it looks better than most games I have seen on PC because of the way it is perfectly balanced and calibrated. The HDR on my set up is truly phenomenal. Can't imagine this game looking any better than it does on my set up. Any improvements would be minimal just like the difference between the last of us on the PS3 and the last of us remastered on the ps4 was minimal despite being on beefier hardware.
If there was a bow or courtesy emoji, I'd use it now.
Loop Hole and get that with a 4K TV. Vibrant but realistic color. Just makes anything look beautiful. The blue lights of the machines and blades of green grass has more contrast and vibrancy to it. My brother has a PS4 Pro and a 4K TV and when I came over to play Horizon Zero Dawn, it was stunning. Played with a PS4 headset and every bit of music gave me the chills.
Such a beautiful ending. Completely exceeded my expectations.

Where was Talanah immediately after HADES was defeated?
Your allies depends of your side quests. Seems like VGS did not help Talanah before finishing the game.

I wondered about that too. But i'm guessing it's because Talanah isn't a required ally. Varl and Erend's side quests has to be completed before Looming Shadow (if not, the main quest will force you to) so they didn't put Talanah in the cutscene :(

Gaia and Elisabeth, the two best moms you could have
this game was such a labor of love :') doesn’t matter how many times i play,, i am always FLOORED by how beautiful the artistry and writing is. and this scene, i mean... what a way to wrap it up. aloy never got her mother and elisabet never got her daugher,, but a thousand years apart they mirror each other in every way they could have hoped for. aloy reaching for guidance and being inspired by the echoes of elisabet's efforts, and liz hoping for a safe and compassionate future that aloy devotes herself to protect :') crying,, it's seriously the most beautiful story i've ever seen

This scene along with the 'Homecoming' theme makes it so much more emotional. It really sets the mood that will make you think about life.

I just finished this game last night and instantly jumped into playing New Game + and it is awesome that the Saves for New Games + is separate from the original Saves so i think i will go back and forth between the two versions. Awesome and an awesome game. This summer i have finished The Last of US 3x, The Last of Us 2 2x, replayed some save points on both games and now i have finished Horizon Zero Dawn. I guess it is the summer of bad ass young girls for me...i should be careful how i phrase that.

In this life she is shooting arrows at mechs and platforming cliffs, a champion of the realm. In another life she is a scientist just a boring nerdy woman with books. Surprising that the same person with the same genetic material can turn out so different if raised in a different setting.
Also in the ending scene I want to tell Aloy "Thats not your mother... Thats you..."
I mean both are essentially true. But Aloy is also her own person.

I have to watch this because I will never know what it feels like to win the game, there is just so much going on it overwhelmed me
have you tried putting it on story mode? makes the combat super easy (you take no damage and your weapons deal a ton) but there really is a lot going on still. this type of game isn't for everyone!
@@hell0mega I was on story mode, it's not the machines that bother me (except the thunder jaw that one scares me) it was just the large map. But I commented that awhile ago, I completed the game now.
Died on the same mission for 1 hour straight even after changing difficulties 4 times, until i put it on story BECAUSE my heals, ammo and resources were not saving before dying, so i had no heals and 100 scraps for ammo. After looting the enemies i accidentaly bought the wrong skill so i decided to load the save and all the dead enemies dissapeared. I quit and uninstalled it
From 2:59 is just beautiful.
