Here's a better quality remake • Twisted Soul .. 1966 ....
It's a cold man to hurt his woman
And watch her walk away crying
When all along, he knows he's wrong
To be so hard on a woman that's trying
I was so unkind to hurt you so
Going out of my mind
I just gotta let you know..
Baby, I can't let you go
I realize I hurt you so
Our love, surely can be mended
It's just a little misunderstanding
I remember you said
You would always care
Until death should we be apart.
Then it surely must be .. my destiny
To die the death of a broken heart
So before I become, a wandering rover
Let's get together
Talk this thing over.
Baby, I can't let you go
I realize I hurt you so
Our love, surely can be mended
It's just a little misunderstanding. That's all it is.
We've been loving so long ..
that it just seems wrong.
that our love could never be
Be anywhere .. baby, I wouldn't care
If I thought that you needed me.
All the chains in the world
Cant hold me .. cant hold me
Like a robot your love controls me ..
Baby .....

One of the most perfect Northern Soul records ever - THE Twisted Wheel ender (my late wonderful husband whose account this is used to go - and though very ill for the last years of his life ALWAYS danced to this). Dave
One of my favourites too. It was released twice and justifiably so. The B side was pretty good too. I wish you well.
I bet he also visited The Golden Torch in Stoke ? He had the best era in music , god bless him 🙏
60's all nighters, best times and best tunes ever.
Fred Astaire the king of northern soul dancing
Right on bro!😂😂😂😂
Seen him a few times at Wigan casino😉🤣🤣🤣🤣
If Fred Astaire ..was still alive today ..he would still be dancing to Northern and Tamla ...no other ..coz he had great taste in music .
Fred Astaire doing his own unique version of the 'Footsee' to this awesome slice of Detroit Soul. 45 years on I salute the miracle that was the Motown sound.
The world will NEVER see the likes of these again ! Stunning couple !!
Absolutely agree, class in a glass and bloody frustrating trying to dance like this ( especially when pissed lol ) 👌👌
What a totally fabulous lady, the likes of which will never be seen again !!
Pre Northern Soul play still sounds fantastic 50yrs on
how can you NOT move to this? thank God for Motown.
Halleluja brother.
does an arthritic spine count as a reason not to move? ;-(
Cockney Red and northern
If you cant boogie to this , youre not well 🙏
Fantastic who ever paired up the dancing to that great song deserves a big big medal just brill
EVERYBODY was on the floor dancing to this when I used to go to Hammersmith Palais in the early 70's.
Big sign on the wall outside proclaimed it to be the "biggest discotheque in the world".
Brilliant night !!
Fantastic record and superb dancing! Let the SOUL roll on.
One of the best pop songs ever with the Contours, linked to two of the best dancers ever - Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell. Whoever put this song and video together ? well we all owe them our greatest thanks for keeping this alive, just fantastic !
The Contours had the talent to be real “superstars”. But the “Temptation’s “ and the “Four Tops” had the “Spotlights” It’s just a little miss understanding and Do You Love Me were the TWO biggest Songs by the Contours. You could dance your shoes off on these two Songs. Motown Ruled the entire 60’s - after all they had ALL the super stars on Motown - Diana Ross & The Supremes - Smokey Robinson & The Miracels - The Four Tops - The Marvelettes - The Contours - Martha Revees & The Vandellas - Mary Wells - Marvin Gaye - The Marvelettes - Kim Weston - Saundra Edwards & The Elgins - Stevie Wonder. Motown made a Big Impact on the Music World - Thaks to ALL THE SUPER STARS - it Wouldn’t be Motown with out them
Eleanor Powell is unbelievable
What a joy it would have been to see Astaire dance in a northern all nighter.
best northern soul track ever
Still sounds great 50 years later
The greatest record of all time, to me, 67 next mth and crying like a baby lol
A Great Dancer can dance to anything 💕❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Imagine these two at Wigan casino!
"I did everything he did, but I did it in high heels"

Me too . . . 100% class.
Yes, I thought about this record and tuned in to hear this great classic..... Dennis Edwards came from this group before he joined singing with the Temptations....... December 22nd, 2014
And me, happy happy memories luv this music
Alan P Agreed!!!
Yes great classic......
The Contours were a Motown group from the early 60s best known for 'Do You Love Me' The lead singer went on to sing with the Temptations. Check out 'First I look at the Purse' by The Contours
Great soul music and super dancing.
My all time favorite dance routine!
For the record when the clip starts it labels Freds' partner in dance to be Elaine Powell, but in fact it is Eleanor Powell who was probably the most accomplished female dancer of her time. As an aside this is one of my top 5 records for dancing. I find it absolutely infectious and could not sit still whilst it is playing if my life depended on it.
Such an iconic tune.
Still have this on vinyl as well...another great track 👍👍
I stand corrected
thank you
Happy days ❤
Pat and Jackie, miss you both

great song!! this is a classic Motown song that ended up being reorded by different artists
Got my GORDY 45 of this one
Absolutely brilliant and some of the best music from the 70s I never tire of listening and another fantastic record is twisted soul by the contours and the video of fred astaire dancing brilliant
One of the best, and most uplifting videos I have seen on RUclips !
Terrific !
amazing to see them dancing to this song; this reminds me of the dances at St. Christophers in Detroit; lots of talent went through those dances, but mostly small time groups, like the pixies three, Geno Washington etc.
The big groups were at St Stephens, like the Temps and the Supremes;
Just brilliant song and vid!
what a tune and a fabulous video
makes my day just better
This track is ageless. 1966 it came out a lots of mods, rude boys (later skinheads) and northern soul boys (UK) would have danced their socks off to The Contours at The Torch Stoke, Wigan Casino, Twisted Wheel Manchester and Leeds Central ....... to name but of few clubs. White working class kids were buying and playing this stuff - Motown, Stax, Atlantic etc. - years before US Radio stations were playing it to mainstream listeners & audiences. We were so cool then and still are now.
Great Tunes, brings back memories Saturday of nights at the California in Dunstable along with all the other great acts they had on there. RIP the Cali
Footsie, before its time. Fabulous!!.. ❤️
one of the very best
