Brooklyn based, Sedona Schat and Noah Yoo, have been recording alternative pop songs together as Cafuné since their days as NYU students in the mid-2010s. Their self-produced debut album "Running," peers out into a world that feels like it’s on the precipice of disaster, considers what it means to get older and carve out a future for yourself. Awesome performance, receive my cafuné.
Saw some folks commented on the autotune which I can understand where they are coming from. But I think that's what their music deliberately wants to show-a glimmer of insecurity and a sense of being perfect by one's expectations-which resonates with their lyrics in Friction & Tek It where a person fails to reciprocate in a relationship, and it left them with a subtle note of desperation.
But that's just my take and how I interpret Cafune's music will be different from you. People might easily judge because they fail to see the context that the artist is trying to put in. If you would try to appreciate the artists-and see the art from multiple standpoints-you might find their music fascinating :)
No need for intellectual masturbation, the set was awful. They didn't play their song well. Sloppy, not synced, out of tune. I mean, sure the autotune is an artistic choice but It didn't help them If they're not precise and accurate during performance. The first guitar riff in Tek It was a complete disaster. Did you see the drummer's reaction?

I still come back to this all the time! This version of Everyone Knows is so much better than the studio recording and her voice is incredible throughout this session. Also the band plays their instruments so great. I just wish the guitars were better tuned for Tek It because this version is kind of lacking but other than that they sound perfect.

Great solid set! These guys are super tight and have some great tunes. I was captivated by bass/kick sync in places like 10:27 for example. Can someone explain the double mic setup? I can't hear the difference. Would have loved to hear some harmonies - b/v mics were setup but not used? Teasing 😉

99% sure that one of the mics has autotune on it and the other is normal vocals
I really like their sound, they're unique and pop-y. I just wish the lead vocalist didn't lean so much on the vocal modulation/pitch shifter, she's got a good voice and it gets a little too distorted and overshadowed by the effects.

I fell in love with these guys while watching the Perspective music video and I'm definitely going to check out the rest of their work, but I'm not gonna lie; they sound terrible here. I hate to be negative, but the vocals are constantly off (even with whatever those added effects that come in at certain parts of the performance are) and the guitars sound just wrong at some points. I know they can do better, though, so I'm not trying to be rough on them. I really hope their audience keeps growing because they have a great sound; this live recording just makes me think twice about going to see them live, even if I ultimately would decide to go (I'd probably just pray the sound guys give them a better monitor mix so they can course correct in case they mess up-which isn't the end of the world, just something you should learn to pick yourself back up from).
Anyways, I wish them the best on their live performances and recordings. They have a LOT of potential!
Nothing a little more practice can't fix, I have so much faith in them it doesn't even mattee to me if they slip up sometimes. I've never been more enchanted listening to a song for the first time than I did with tek it, and then the entire running album. the way they create music is so special to me. ❤
