How long did you ride it for and what happened? My 1000 watt 160 160 E bike betrayed me and I have been out for a week and a half. But when it's on its on.
I happen to have a Santa Cruz Nomad CC, Trek Session 9.9 and an Intense Recluse….. gotta say the Santa Cruz is still my favorite, have 4 other friends with them as well and not one attorney or Audi owner in the group! 🤷♂️ nice video though!
The Nomad is a really great bike. Several of the guys have had them and one of them still has the 26 version as a collectors item. Actually one of my favourite bikes I have ridden is the megatower.
Lol nice review, interesting you managed on a medium thought the spring rate would be a bit soft.. Your right about the tyres I swapped my rear for 2.6 eddy current so square knobbs for climbing. Also the battery cover has a hole for quick release at the top.and yes an adapter is required to charge when the battery is removed.
@@bestdayevermtb2 I have a medium and had to go down from the stock 450lb to a 350 as only weight 68kg. Out of interest how talk are you and weight. Just curious. Also did you set the fork to fox recommended settings. Hi from the UK 🙂
@@russc5269 I am 176cm and 95kg. The rear shock did feel quite soft but I didn't seem to bottom out and it felt good. A bit soft on the climbs although better when locked out. To be honest I didn't need to adjust the fork.
I think this review is really weird. You state how much you like it and how well it rides. It's unclear if your "don't buy it" comments are a joke or serious. I don't give a crap about santa cruz but the title of the video is very clickbaitey and unfair I think. I do like your videos tho.
Great review on a nice bike! I love the "honesty" in your videos ( the colors are terrible... purple is hideous!). I am waiting for a Kenevo SL to be delivered so I will not be tempted no matter how good you made the bike look.
@@adamotheloanguy I have upgraded my Levo SL with Ohlins suspension (Front 170 air, rear 160 coil) and mulleted so I am pretty happy with it. We will have to see the Kenevo SL with its 10mm increase and Enduro suspension on the rear will make that much of a difference. I will definitely notice it in my bank account!!
Santa Cruz has great customer service, as does ibis, and you can still talk to a person. And, Santa Cruz framed have a life time warranty! So if you’re a CB resident who’s cracked a few of the other brands it’s nice and worth the extra money. So if your a frame cracking type of rider who can’t keep replacing your Shrek or Generalized every month…. The colors are an issue: just offer every SC or Ibis in black por favor. Being new to the emtb world; can you pop battery out and put in spare or is it plug in only? I’m a larger rider that is getting old and I want more range. Most rides where i live have 3-5k foot climbs. Would like to bike to camp too and don’t want to deal with maintain an enduro/motorcross bike.
The battery can come out and be swapped with another. I have two Bosch 625 batteries and do this. I have thought about a carrier on the back for bike packing trips carrying battery on carrier. I must admit the owner of the bike just told me he is selling this bike and buying a Rail. Why? For more range.
I will review any E bike I can get my hands on. Given nobody has demo bikes anymore I rely on people letting me borrow their new bikes. I do know someone with a new Focus but not sure they will let me ride it.
Hilarious that your Santa Cruz owner description fits so well with all the ones I know. You forgot to mention their blinged-up VW transporter gay-vans though. 😀
Ok my bad; no offense intended but i have never seen one of your videos before but I did not expect you to get down like that. Great review I do believe I will subscribe.
haha, honest review... I'm going to find a problem whether its really there or no... I've got more miles off-road than 99% of riders and any bike can be great if set up properly but Santa Cruz seems to get you closer to the aerial maneuver expert faster. I have a Specialized which is unfixable and has proprietary unreplaceable parts, a Cannondale with a one of a kind fork and yep a Santa Cruz with a lifetime pivot and frame replacement if it breaks from me not landing like I stole it. or crashing on rocks. Even then I can get a replacement triangle etc and actually get back on the trail. Most companies just get your money and leave you hanging especially Specialized/S-Works. Nice review, I felt bad for that electric motor as it had to use a lot of horsepower moving that Clydesdale Frame and I don't mean the bike.;-) Good on ya!!!
Great review Lance, been hankering for a Santa Cruz for a while , but never thought about what kind of people ride 'em.........same reason I wont buy an Audi, everyone here seems to ride a specialist or trek ( currently I own a Giant etrance+1 pro s, and like being a bit different, now I've upgraded some parts to my liking ,she does me well, same colour as the one you tested about a year ago lol). The drone footage was a nice touch ,your vids never fail to please. Keep it up ,all the best 🏴
The Giant is a good bike. You are right about Trek and Specialized having a big chunck of the market. Now I think about it you don't see as many Giants in all classes as you used to. Giant was huge 10 years ago if not the most common brand.
i just ordered one. I was going to order a Pivot but I have an Audi RS3 in the garage (below the E30 M3) so I had to order a Santa Cruz. I don't have a t-Shirt and open to the Santa Cruz rep sending me one....i'll even put some Santa Cruz stickers on my turtle if you want to send me some. Excited to ride this (I did rent a Heckler for the weekend and it was nice also).
Very entertaining review, I happen to haul my Bullit around in a20yr old mini van and do actual work for a living, but generally agree with the SC stereotypes! I don't think they are priced as outrageously as people think compared to other high end carbon bikes... to them I ask... have you priced a new Levo lately??? Anyway, It's an awesome bit of kit no doubt. One last comment, the battery drops out with a quarter turn off a single 4mm Allen... no need to struggle there, but you do need the adapter to charge it off the bike. Thanks for a great review!
I agree with you regarding price of the bullit. More expensive than a trek rail with similar spec but the Pivot I reviewed was similar money and I saw a s works levo in the shop for $26 000 !!!! I do think e bikes are ridiculous prices when you compare buying a car or motorbike but I guess you want what you want.
@@bestdayevermtb2 yes i mostly ride around 30-35km on trails, but its nice to be able to so over 40 on Rhode strights but you tiden downhill al the time so i dont think you need a speedbox att al 😉
Review is nice and honest. Just completely disagree with the Santa Cruz owner type. I think it would more apply to Specialized owners if I would have to put a tag on someone. But I'm a Santa Cruz owner so I can be biased ;-) What I like about Santa Cruz? US California based company, big enough to have strong support and solidness, but not a giant like Specialized or Trek that lack some MTB loose spirit...
Thanks for the feedback. Must admit the jokes was a bit tongue in cheek aimed at my Santa Cruz worshipping friends. I often forget how many people watch these videos who are not regulars to my channel and don't know my style of videos. I must admit I do like Santa Cruz bikes and especially now with their DH team. Greg Minnar, Jackson Goldstone, Laurie Greenland, Nina Hoffman and at the top Steve Pete. That has to be the coolest team ever.
What a great review. Nice to see some honesty. And a great accent 😂😉. I just bought one so it’s nice to know that I’m now better than everyone else 😂😂😂
Well Santa Cruz bikes are kind of like the Lamborghini Countach poster on the wall. Lots of people see the reviews or see them in the magazines and dream of being able to splash out $15g to buy one. If someone splashes that much cash on an mtb they must be fairly committed to it.
Own a Santa Cruz. Not a lawyer, not a fan of Audi or BMWs, and don’t drink so I don’t go to the pub. I realize you were joking, there is just no reason to open a video like that.
If I am being honest, I couldn't buy any off the shelf ebike, and that's because I would always feel cheated because of the motor limiter, spending thousands on a bike limited to 15mph, it's not really for me.
I think people still think of Santa Cruz bikes as a boutique company. maybe it was 10 plus years ago, but now it's the same as specialized. not that it's a bad thing. some people are pretentious and think it's still an exclusive boutique company. which it's not.
I agree about the boutique company thing. They are now pretty huge. They make great bikes that is for sure. I just want something different to all my friends.
@@bestdayevermtb2 have a google, guy did some timed laps .. alot of them. Compound and pattern effects it more. I was the same as you an didnt believe it but since ive now tried it myself its been good as.
@@MrSupermugen Had a look at video. Very interesting. Does make you wonder why none of the world cup DH riders ever put a 2.8 on their bikes. It simply can't be faster. Likewise the xc racers don't use wide tires. I know from personal experience when I went to Whistler the first time we had heavy double ply tires for the bike park but then swapped to lighter narrower tires for an adventure ride. The bike felt much easier to pedal with the smaller tires. I guess the question is, is it weight or width. I think bigger tires means more grip and better small bump compliance which means more speed on the downhill. I certainly like bigger tires on the E bike.
@@bestdayevermtb2 Tire squirm is the reason people dont run wide tires, many say narrower tires will hold its line better(eg tracks better) which i say id have to agree with. XC dont use them purely because of weight but in the UCI XC youll find a few do run XC treaded wide tires atleast at world championships they did. tread and compound effect it alot more, Weight is a factor but only when climbing.(basically) My assegai 2.6/2.6 dhr2 pedals better than my 2.5 dhf and 2.4 dissector. i didnt believe the video myself so hence trying them and now im a believer lol
Dear Santa Cruz, you make sick bikes but please fire whatever blind person you have picking out the colorways. Not as bad as Intense but seriously is that who you want to be compared to? ps. this is like top gear for bikes. Thanks for the review.
Great bike , rides smooth ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing
One of the worst bike reviews I've seen on the internet imho. First of all, Lance is riding the demo bike too small for him. It's a Medium size and he literally tells in the video he's normally riding a Large bike at least. So.., nothing to do with the bike build that the dropper post (and/or cable) is too short and your legs hurt after a day of shredding. Riding a wrong size of the bike can also cause a total wrong riding experience so... this makes his opinion wothless now. Also a rear tire isnt that much to talk about on a review as its a personal preference. It's like the same telling the pedals on the bike are shitty and dont get anough grip on your shoes. At the end of the video I still do not know much (more) about the bike before I was watching the review. Last tip, totally free for you. When you review a bike please dont mention (read; make fun of) the people who rides the SC bikes. They got nothing to do with your vid or bike build and it's like the same when you tell ''people who ride Cube bikes are silly and dont have enough money to buy a real bike''. Better luck on the next one! Cheers!
Was a bizzarre review, basically says this is a good bike but the people that buy them are knobs. Any SC riders I know are just enthusiasts out for a good time. At the moment there's a lot going around of anyone who can afford (saved up for a long time) a premium bike is a lawyer or dentist. Any lawyer or dentist i've come across is not riding mtb's but driving around in amazing cars haha and good on them.
Geez guys just chill a little, the reviewer’s just teasing with his SC rider portrayals and being a bit of a wise-ass. I sold paint for a living and my son’s a transit system technician so no dentists, lawyers here and we’ve owned a succession of SC bikes over the decades as have many other SC riders we know. It seems the reviewer got to some of his easy targets and bruised their tender parts… maybe he should have included some Vagisil to ease the pain. At the end of the day, I get how riding a bike off by a size can certainly contribute to his issue with saddle height but that hardly invalidates an entire review.
@@douglashill3740 I like the cut of your jib. Mountain biking is about having fun with your mates and taking the piss out of each other and their bikes. If someone has a second hand 26 inch bike it would be very uncool to make fun of them. Turn up on a $20 000 bike and you are going to say "nice bike but why did you go for the ladies model" My videos are not for everyone but I am too old to change and refuse to be boring.
Man I don't know where you live but around here the guys on Santa Cruz bikes are the ones who shred but don't make a big deal out of it, it's the Specialized guy's who have to tell you every five minutes they have an S-Works, and the Yeti guys with all the bling who take the chicken lines around everything. It sounds like you need less douche friends.
The price alone prevents me from ever having a Santa Cruz, but even if I won lotto, I wouldn't buy a bike without the Bosch motor...I guess with SC you can always expect a great handling bike, but value for money they are not
Once you own one ,ride and work on it yourself u can see the value quality craftsmanship sc have great R&D ,support ,warranty and new bearings free whenever you want them then the things your eyes carnt see like great stability etc. Etc. Personally ill pay a couple more bucks for something that works .
Great video and nice review. The bike would be good if it was not overpriced, especially in the EU in comparison to other brands. Also, I noticed, that mullet bikes with short chainstays (like Merida e160) are usually not great climbers and this one, no matter what was said - is no exception. But damn, they're capable at descents as hell.
I think you have always paid a big premium for a Santa Cruz which is sort of what I eluded to in the video. Definitely a down hill beast rather than a climber.
What's the riding like in Denmark? Must admit it is somewhere I have never been. I think Santa Cruz makes great bikes. I kind of make jokes aimed at my friends but forget how far these videos can go.
@@bestdayevermtb2 It's pretty decent, a lot of loam. But it is pretty flat, but there are some decent places to get some elevation. Plenty of places for me to improve at least. We have a trail called "Danmarks Tag" (denmarks roof) that's pretty popular.
What I find funny about mountain bikes is that the "manufacturer" manufactures virtually nothing. Read though the specs ... rockshox suspension, shimano drive, chain and sprokets, whatever wheels.... every component is made by someone else but stamp a name on it and suddenly everyone thinks they have Santa Cruz bike
Hahaha! I live in Santa Cruz and you hit the nail right on the head! Great bikes but made for the wealthy. I was born and raised here and most guys I see owning them are trust funders or dot comers from the Silicon Valley! Where’s the love for the locals SC!
I must admit the video was meant to be comical. Many of my friends have or had Santa Cruz bikes but none of them are what you would call wealthy. In fact Santa Cruz is a very popular brand in NZ. I just like being a bit controversial at times.

This was great stuff appreciate your honesty!! JUST to add in the only place I've ever been VIBE mounting biking is in Santa Cruz by guys on Santa Cruz bikes HA HA
I know a lot of great Santa Cruz riders. In fact as I mentioned my friends still have them.
I would like to see you review a Scott ransom eride to see what you think
I would like that also. Just need to get my hands on one.
Haha, good sarcasm....You were on a SC in Pila when we met & rode the “Lamborghini tractor trail” 🤫 Love the drone shots Lance, especially nice to see dry trails, we have had winter mush in UK for months! Mate has a Bulit and loves it, you didn’t mention any motor rattle tho. Which I’ve heard is the main criticism & prevented me from having one. Gone Levo gen3 & loving it! Stay safe mate 👊🏻
That was a great day. Hadn't spoken English to anyone in weeks so meeting you guys was awesome. Not everyone gets my sense of humour but clearly you do. Hope to get back to Italy when covid allows.
What a great video! Great camera angles and shooting.
Thanks always appreciate the feedback.
This is awesome and I couldn't stop laughing! :D Thanks for the review!
Glad you enjoyed it and didn't take it too seriously.
Wouldn't the lack of climbing ability and certainly the seat issue be because you should be riding an L and not an M? Or did I misunderstand you?
Lance. Great video.
I'm a working guy able to find this unobtainable bike during covid. Your 100% right, bike is too confidence enspiring. At 50 I broke my #8 rib and left big toe. My kids named it bloody. Cheers and again smoking video
Bugger. Sorry to hear that. Must admit I forgot this was not my bike and just wanted to jump everything. Just as well I had to give it back.
How long did you ride it for and what happened? My 1000 watt 160 160 E bike betrayed me and I have been out for a week and a half. But when it's on its on.
did you really notice the weight difference as i ride the ktm prowler like yourself and are looking to go to a lighter full pwered ebike?
I would say the ktm and bullit are a very similar weight.
Interesting as I weighed my ktm and it was bang on 25kg and they claim the bullet is about 22.5kg.
Thanks for the review Lance 👍
I happen to have a Santa Cruz Nomad CC, Trek Session 9.9 and an Intense Recluse….. gotta say the Santa Cruz is still my favorite, have 4 other friends with them as well and not one attorney or Audi owner in the group! 🤷♂️ nice video though!
The Nomad is a really great bike. Several of the guys have had them and one of them still has the 26 version as a collectors item. Actually one of my favourite bikes I have ridden is the megatower.
I was looking at a mega tower because it’s cheaper than pivot and specialised 😂
Cool Video, Whats the track at 2:25
Lol nice review, interesting you managed on a medium thought the spring rate would be a bit soft.. Your right about the tyres I swapped my rear for 2.6 eddy current so square knobbs for climbing. Also the battery cover has a hole for quick release at the top.and yes an adapter is required to charge when the battery is removed.
The shock was softer than I am used to but felt great jumping. Maybe a bit soft for climbing.
He also cases like every single jump. Not sure if review is joke or not.
Yeah, I disliked this video because of that.
Awesome video mate !!!
I’ve got a Heckler MX and Audi RS6 😂😂😂 I don’t however have a Santa Cruz T-shirt and I am not a lawyer 👍🏻
Great review on a nice bike! I love the "honesty" in your videos ( the colors are terrible... purple is hideous!). I am waiting for a Kenevo SL to be delivered so I will not be tempted no matter how good you made the bike look.
Keen to try the Kenevo sl. Look like a fun bike.
I’ve got my KSL about a month and a half ago and I freaking love the thing. It’s not as powerful as my levo but that’s fine is it rides so much nicer
I will definitely notice it in my bank account!!
but that shirt lol
@@solaris8118 Woah woah woah, I didn't know you could do that much suspension on a Levo, how has it been???
When are you going to review a Focus e-bike? Suggest a Sam2 for your type of riding.
I will review any E bike I can get my hands on. Given nobody has demo bikes anymore I rely on people letting me borrow their new bikes. I do know someone with a new Focus but not sure they will let me ride it.
the thing I'm concerned about with any ebike is it slowing down when you hit the speed regulator and messing with the flow of a ride
You are not wrong. Derestricting the bike will transform the riding experience.
Hilarious that your Santa Cruz owner description fits so well with all the ones I know. You forgot to mention their blinged-up VW transporter gay-vans though. 😀
It is probably an unfair stereotype but that is my sense of humour 😁😁😁
you can go to walk mode just by holding the down the down button… dont have to go to off.
Ok my bad; no offense intended but i have never seen one of your videos before but I did not expect you to get down like that. Great review I do believe I will subscribe.
My videos are definitely an acquired taste. I would rather have some people love them and some people hate them than everyone found them boring .😀
haha, honest review...
The Bullit certainly gave me confidence to jump. Glad you enjoyed the review and didn't take it too seriously.
How much does aluminum 26" weigh?
Not sure I understand the question. Not sure about the weight of this bike.
You have some sick tracks dude 👌
i just ordered one.
You will love the bike. Have fun and glad to see you don't take things too seriously.
Ha Ha. We arn't all lawyers/dentists who drive audis. I can see one in your future shortly.
Yes was being a bit cheeky there.
Mean bro🙌🏼🤙🏽
specialized owners are smug AF too, I ride a 2016 nomad and love it, I'm scoping out a Bullitt right now
I wanted to skip the review because of the topic:) I'm glad I didn't:)
Another great one Lance, One thing tough you cant speedbox it cos its a Shimano 🤪
Are you using the speedbox? Any issues?
@@bestdayevermtb2 non whats so Ever , rode over 1500km now 😀
We have a 32kph limit here so speedbox is not such an issue
@@robvanduren761 32 I better than 25 but not as good as 50😁
@@bestdayevermtb2 yes i mostly ride around 30-35km on trails, but its nice to be able to so over 40 on Rhode strights but you tiden downhill al the time so i dont think you need a speedbox att al 😉
That was a good review and a brilliant skills as well. The title is confusing though..
its clearly a bait front.
Yes I am guilty of click bait with this one. I try to avoid it but certainly fell in that trap with this one.
God damn! You can ride! 🎉
Nice bro, cheers
Lance those jumps you were hitting are massive nice job 😮. Really enjoyed the review tho.
bruuh he has a stuntman that fills in for him
@@chriskriaris4304 hahaha I sometimes wonder lol
Insert Yeti owners. Great review mate!
Thanks. It is all just a bit of fun really. You can't really judge someone buy their bike or car.🙂
What a great review. Nice to see some honesty. And a great accent 😂😉. I just bought one so it’s nice to know that I’m now better than everyone else 😂😂😂
Nice one chopper!
Well Santa Cruz bikes are kind of like the Lamborghini Countach poster on the wall. Lots of people see the reviews or see them in the magazines and dream of being able to splash out $15g to buy one. If someone splashes that much cash on an mtb they must be fairly committed to it.
Not a lawyer but love the geometry.
I ride a Santa Cruz….and I’m smug as hell about it……because my bike is amazing! 😂😂
Don't get me started. I think they should have no restriction and 15mph is obscene. Saying that there are ways around these things.
@@bestdayevermtb2 very true👍
how much $$$?
I think this spec is $18000 or should I say was.
@@bestdayevermtb2 whoa!
But looks awesome :)
Best bike review ever
It looses points as its not orange. Drone footage looking great
🍊 is the best colour.
This bike rocks, I love mine!!
Although I joke a bit in the video this bike is in my all time top 3 of bikes I have reviewed.😀
LOL! Love it.
Screw the SC those tracks look awesome !!!
Fyi tire width is deceiving, testing shows a fatter tyre for whatever reason has less rolling resistance
Thanks. Not sure I am convinced by that one but either way I would change the tires.
@@bestdayevermtb2 have a google, guy did some timed laps .. alot of them. Compound and pattern effects it more.
I was the same as you an didnt believe it but since ive now tried it myself its been good as.
@@bestdayevermtb2 ruclips.net/video/8by3v688Ze8/видео.html
Theres also a heap of other videos but this one is very detailed.
XC dont use them purely because of weight but in the UCI XC youll find a few do run XC treaded wide tires atleast at world championships they did.
tread and compound effect it alot more, Weight is a factor but only when climbing.(basically)
My assegai 2.6/2.6 dhr2 pedals better than my 2.5 dhf and 2.4 dissector.
i didnt believe the video myself so hence trying them and now im a believer lol
a natural jumpin' bike is arare one
Dear Santa Cruz, you make sick bikes but please fire whatever blind person you have picking out the colorways. Not as bad as Intense but seriously is that who you want to be compared to? ps. this is like top gear for bikes. Thanks for the review.
Glad you liked the review and agree with me on colours. I have been told my taste is outdated but I like what I like.
I just want one ☝🏼 😉
It was not factory though.
Best Day Ever MTB when you drive a VW beetle 🪲 and you’re a fridgie you don’t need factory 🏭 special enough as it is 🤘🏾
@@theziggyg I have always said you were special.
That bike seemed like it had a lot of rattle. Love the rear coil.
Nice job
Funnily enough I didn't real notice it riding but the gopro really picks up those sounds. E bikes in general seem much noisier than normal bikes.
Tye bullit is the best ebike on the market
Im not buying that bike. Thanks for your help bruuh
I'm colour blind, maybe I missed my calling 🤣🤣
@@Santacruz-jim I agree with you sir!
Not gonna lie even though there the same price yeti owners are a lot chiller people than santa cruz owners
Specialized & Santa Cruz are great bikes 🤦♂️ 2.6 Pirelli s on my Bullit
Thats not true. Ive owned 2 Santa Cruz bikes. They make a great bike
The price alone prevents me from ever having a Santa Cruz, but even if I won lotto, I wouldn't buy a bike without the Bosch motor...I guess with SC you can always expect a great handling bike, but value for money they are not
I think that is a fair accessment. They make good bikes but you do pay a premium.
Try 2022 Giant Reign E+2, rides better than bullit for half the price🤙
He must own a Audi
Santa Cruze are way overpriced they use the same battery and motors on other E-mountain bikes
Huh never seen smug santa cruz owners, then again i live in denmark and i drive a ford fiesta. And i don't have the biggest income.
You are not wrong. You are basically buying different frames.
He was biased before he even started the review.
His negativity turned me off.
