ANCEL AD530 Automotive Scan Tool. This thing is way better than It should be!

- As A mechanic, I've come to realize that most tools are tools you buy once and own forever, but there are certain tools that wear out, or just age out.
Scan tools fall into that category. I own 3 scan tools. A entry level code reader, a mid level all system scanner, and a pro level bi-directional scan tool.
As it turns out, all 3 are about finished. They were all purchased back in 2008, and even with updates, they have simply run out of support.
This tool, The Ancel AD530 was supposed to replace my "Code reader" and it does an incredible job of doing that and much more. I'm blown away by all the things this little tool packs in, and especially how fast the live data refresh times are. It's less than $80 bucks and that's about $250 less than I paid for it;s 2008 predecessor!

I've also ordered a replacement for my mid level scanner as well, so stay tuned for a video (or 2 on that) and later this year I expect to finally retire my OTC Genisys so I figure I'll be making a video on it's replacement as well!

I've always had vehicles from the 80s and early 90s but I decided to get something newer. This is a lot easier than counting check engine light flashes, looking up what the code means in the manual, and then being more confused than when you started.
Yeah, very impressed with it. I later got an Autel MD806, which is about 3x the cost, to go deeper into the ECUs and systems. While the Autel could read more and see more stored codes, I was surprised that it _couldn't_ do the battery and alternator tests and didn't seem to have as good (and responsive) a graphing ability as the AD530. For the money, it really is a heck of an impressive scanner and well worth getting for anyone/everyone to be able to get an idea of what's going on with their vehicle.

Very clean factory looking instal on the Cobra 18 STW as well ,,at least it looks like it from what little it showed . I’ve got 2 of those !!

First setting to adjust , shut off the beep every time you hit a button.

That is good to know- It helps if you know what is wrong with it before the local mechanic can screw you
that looks much nicer/easier to use than the more expensive Harbor Freight unit i have.
I am amazed at how fast it is! I guess it's been so long since I upgraded I didn't realize how far these things has come.

I am not able to update the software on my AD530. Could you make a video of how to update software??
I simply plug the unit into the computer and the computer detects it as a hard drive. Then go to the ANCEL site and download the software for updates.

No, you'll need a pro level tool for that.

This unit doesn't do ABS Just Engine/Trans.
@@FarpointFarms It'll tell me about transmission problems too? I just bought a 2013 Acadia, and it's chug chug chugging when I slowly press on the accelerator...my mechanic told me it was probably plugs...Hopefully THIS will confirm what he said.

It should, it has a function called the readyness test, if all the lights are green. It should let you know if you can pass or not.
