Hi! I followed all the steps in the video but the MC101 doesn't show up in the Audio Input Device menu. Do you know what might be the cause? Many thanks for your help 🙏
Hi Teabreakbeats and anyone else reading this comment. I just recently bought the mc101, currently trying to integrate it into my "studio" setup. I have a synth, a pedal, an audio interface (2i2) and my chosen DAW (fruity). I am trying integrate the mc101's multitracking feature into my DAW, though, I am running into some difficulties--there is signal showing in my mixer channels when I play the mc101 but I cannot hear anything through my headphones which are connected to the 2i2, plugging them directly into the laptop doesn't work either. If I want to be able to record straight into my DAW, whilst also using my audio interface, I will need to setup aggregated devices, is this possible on windows? Any help would be appreciated. Have a nice day.
Hi Alexander - you can try ASIO4ALL , it is a custom ASIO driver for Windows that allows aggregation of devices. I think it is freeware, although I've currently switched to MAC so have not used it in a long time. For my next video - I can try and dig out my old windows laptop and give it a go!
Hey man great vids. Ive learned a lot from you on the 101. Question on this though. I am BRAND NEW to Ableton and i only seem to have i stereo and one mono input showing up in my Ableton preferences. Howd you get more?
Hi - it seems that a couple of others had a similar issue, did you install the MC-101 drivers? If you are on a mac they need to be allowed security permissions. Thanks for watching
I believe v1.6 contained a 'generic' usb driver. Helpful for us Linux users. Switching to this made my 101 visible in Reaper. My only problem now is configuring Reaper to receive the 4 tracks separately. Working on it...
Hi Mike - Let me know how it goes! I have a feeling that it only shows up as a single Stereo output once you switch to the generic driver, but let me know if you manage to get all outputs showing in Linux!
Hey man, your 101 tutorials are a massive help! Thank-you. Do you know if there is an option to bypass the master multi fx per track? Can’t seem to find it anywhere.
Hi - thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to bypass the Master Multi FX per track..I can't find that setting either. You can however, load a MULTI FX per Track - so instead of putting the Multi FX on the master and bypassing one track, you could put the same FX you wanted on the 3 remaining tracks and nothing on the track you want to bypass? In addition, there is a global Reverb and Delay, both of which you can send to (or bypass) independently for each track... If the effect you want to bypass is similar to a reverb or delay, you could use one of these slots instead?

Hello, I tried to setup my 101 with ableton, but it doesn't recognize it in audio input device, do I have to have an Audio interface for it to recognize it?
Hello, thanks for watching. It should show up even without another audio interface (Ableton treats the MC-101 like an audio interface). If you are on windows, you might need to install the MC-101 drivers. If you are on mac, you may need to give Ableton permission to access your microphone in security settings.

Great video. Well Done. I followed it to the letter but I just cannot see the input stereo pairs in an Audio track in Ableton 11. I have BigSur (macos 11.2.3) I see the 101 as an input source and can enable the 5 input pairs. Anyone else have this problem?
Hi Simon, thanks for watching. Do you see any inputs listed at all? I can only think of a couple things that might be the issue as you say you have already enabled the stereo input pairs (sorry if these sound too obvious) - make sure it is an Audio Track and not a Midi Track. In the drop down above where you choose the input pairs it should say Ext In first. On MacOS and Garage Band, some viewers have commented that they needed to give security permissions for ableton to use the microphone before it worked...maybe related? On the MC-101 hardware itself, the settings should be set to "Vendor" mode for the audio driver (and not Generic) - this was a new setting on the MC-101 after I made this video. Hope you get it working!

Hi Rottenlead - Each track of the MC-101 has a MFX Slot. So if you place a Distortion MFX on your Synth in Track 1 it will get recorded as a Distorted Synth in Ableton (Through MC-101 Output 3/4). However, there is also an MFX Slot on the Master Channel...if you say add a Reverb to the Master MFX, Ableton will only record a Distorted Synth with Reverb on the Master Track (Through MC-101 Output 1/2). Hi - thanks for watching. In short, yes you can multi-track record in garageband, but because MIDI OUT is not supported, you manually have to press play on the MC-101 and Record in Garageband. Choose MC-101 as your input device by: GarageBand -> Preferences -> Audio/Midi -> and Input Device: MC-101. Then create 5 audio tracks. In the track recording settings (bottom half of the window make the track Input Stereo (click the o next the the drop down so it becomes two overlapping circles) and select the Input Channels 1/2 for Track 1 and 3/4 for Track 2 etc. To arm all tracks you need to right click a track and select "Configure Track Header" and check "Record Enable". Make sure all 5 Tracks are blinking red and then press record in garage band and press play in the MC-101. It should record the audio. If it doesn't work let me know and I'll try and make a video.

@@DeephouseSunshine Thanks for watching - sorry I don't own a 707! It should be pretty similar, except with more outputs showing up in Ableton.
How can I do the same but in logic pro?
Sorry - I don't have Logic Pro. It might be similar to Garage Band?: Choose MC-101 as your input device by: GarageBand -> Preferences -> Audio/Midi -> and Input Device: MC-101.
@@teabreakbeats It would be great if you made a video, many users will have the same problem as me, I have garage band on an iPad, but I've never used it, thanks!!!! Make that video!!! You'd help us a lot!!!!
I get why they skip the mfx on the individual tracks, I just wish they gave us thenoption
On version 1.71 you can now can use INSERTS on a track. This can be used to create an MFX and then send another track's audio into it (so you can record dry and wet signal separately) however, it uses up an entire track. Check my video on the Version 1.71 Update for more ruclips.net/video/XTCHteDtCko/видео.html
Hi! I was wondering if you’ve found a good way to record from ableton into the 101? Thank you for making these!
Hi - yes I think it is possible to sample Ableton Live into a looper track on the 101...Let me try and I'll record a video!
awesome!
Thank you for watching!!!
Great video.... I posted it to the r/mc707_mc101 subreddit
Thanks for watching and sharing this - I'll be making more of these videos for the MC-101 community!
I swear you need a damn electrical engineering degree to set DAW's up. Got this damn thing to escape that hell.
Does anybody know how to do this in Studio One? It doesn't seem to detect the inputs? I don't know, i'm about to give up on music production in general at this point.
Lol - I thought I'd make a quick video every time I had to learn with this thing...before you know it, I had a whole series of videos! Sorry - I don't have Studio One otherwise would try and figure it out for you. Thanks for watching and hope you figure it out soon!
@@teabreakbeats Haha you're welcome, I finally did discover the issue, I'm using the free version of Studio One which only allows recording of 2 inputs simultaneously. Tried it in Reaper and got it multi track recording in about 10 minutes. I'll be able to record a song one day.
ah - great that you figured it out. Once you get it recorded, I hope you share your MC-101 music, I'd be interested to hear!
