I use top tier but certainly not due to consumer or aaa. I use it because it is better and not only uses more additives, it uses better syn type additives. I also use Exxon, Shell, Sinclair, Chevron, Phillips not just one brand.
I’ve noticed when I didn’t use top tier, my car during my round trip commute would noticeably burn more gas. I understand that traffic condition can affect mpg, but this was noticeable. When I switched to exclusively top tier not only did my car not burn as much gas, but the engine accelerated a lot smoother.
It all depends on what you want just like groceries do you buy the name brand with better ingredients or do you buy the generic brand thats cheaper , you get what you pay for and know the benefits or losses your choice will receive quality comes with a price
Started using shell when I noticed my motorcycle engine started with more roar, switched to Chevron when I noticed their Diesel allowed me to do 4 round trips from San Diego to LA/Long Beach unstead of the 3 with the cheaper places. With full tanks on the 1st trip the fuel gauge showed less fuel got consumed above 3/4 tank, cheap diesel needle marked below. Same driving habits of cruise control. Also with Chevron diesel the turbocharger PSI gauge showed that it climbed up to 28-29 as opposed to lower 20s.
I get my gas where ever it’s cheapest. Which 99% of the time is RaceTrac and Walmart have never had any type of engine problem related to gasoline. Sounds like marketing
That is the thing with engines. They run until they don't. The fact that no problems are obvious to you doesn't mean that there is no problem or one isn't developing. That said, it is hard to know for sure if it is a marketing scam or not.
@@nobodyimportant7804 gasoline problems like fuel injector issues don't appear overnight but soon it will if you don't use gas with good detergents like top tier. @@brianoconner3090 Yeah, that is what it says. Who, if anyone, paid to put it in your manual? You can't even tell me what is in top-tier gas. Car manuals are typically full of BS. Mine says I should only change my oil every 10k miles. It says that because Toyota wants to sell me a new short block sooner, rather than later.
Ive been using top tier gas without realizing it. I always went to this Valero by the highway. And they are usually cheaper than other gas stations that are near me. I think its better to stick with top tier gas especially when you have a direct injection engine. Thats when carbon will cause more harm than good. For port injection. Just use whatever
They show zero evidence that "top-tier" is better or how much detergents a gas company actually uses. Show me the evidence otherwise, this is a marketing gimmick. Most gas companies order their gas in bulk at the lowest spot price. The gas delivery truck will dump their fuel into a "top-tier" and then drive down the street to a non "top-tier station using the same gas.

Look at your cars manual and look at what the manufacturer recommends you use for gas. It’s a marketing gimmick then everyone wonders why only Toyotas and Hondas are reliable. Its almost like they’re made for the moronic consumer that doesn’t even read their cars manual so they’re meant to not be taken proper care of
They add the additive package to the fuel right at the station. A Costco employee explained the procedure to me as I watched him do it. Everything's not a conspiracy, much as you'd like it to be so.

Engineers that build engines use the cheapest gasoline. If it makes you feel better toss in a bottle of Techron now and then.
It is better and often the same price as non top tier gas, it has more detergent additives, Exxon and Shell have the highest amounts of detergent. A cleaner valve and fuel injectors means higher MPG, which means less money. Top tier gasoline stations also offer rewards from 3 to 20 cents per gallon. Engineers that engineer engines advise to use top tier gasoline, and never use the term 'cheap gasoline'.
It's not marketing BS. Most manufacturers recommend Top Tier fuel, as its use can potentially save them money on warranty repairs for engine problems related to excessive carbon buildup. They actually add the extra chemicals to the fuel right at the station. I was talking to a Costco employee about it when he was getting ready to pour in the additives after a fuel delivery.
I am not a believer in something on the face of it. The top tier products have to differentiate themselves somehow. I think it is well accepted that the additive packages in various "levels" of gas actually do differ.
No, it isn't. And Top Tier rated fuel isn't necessarily more expensive. Costco is Top Tier and it's the least expensive in my area. The video even says it's only about 3 cents extra per gallon. Well worth it.
@angore3rd In my area, at most stations regular is going for $3.49, Top Tier rated or not. This is according to Gas Buddy. Obviously, it is probably different near you. I'm surprised, as Shell and BP are usually more expensive.

With the turbo engines we have today a top grade gas is better for them helps to prevent carbon build up on the valves
Non-ethanol only premium costs more but the results are awesome😊
What way is it more awesome?
