- Join Nidhi, the lead Agilist with Eduhubspot, as she delves into the crucial PMI-ACP topic of 'Definition of Done' in this insightful video. Using an easily relatable and hands-on example of making breakfast at home, Nidhi brilliantly illustrates how the definition of done can differ based on various factors.
In teamwork, having a clear, shared understanding of the 'Definition of Done' is crucial. This term refers to a checklist that outlines the processes each team member should follow before affirming that they have fulfilled their promise or task. This checklist ensures that everyone is aligned and delivers their work as per the agreed-upon standards.
Nidhi further expands on the versatility of this concept, explaining its applicability beyond professional settings. Whether you're working on a project at your workplace, collaborating on a team task, or even running a personal website, the 'Definition of Done' serves as a practical guide that facilitates productivity and efficiency. Here is why Definition of done is important - Universal Applicability: 'Definition of Done' is not restricted to professional or agile environments. It can be applied to personal projects or any task that requires a clear understanding of when it can be considered complete.
Clarity and Alignment: A well-defined 'Definition of Done' provides clarity, sets expectations, and aligns all team members. This prevents miscommunication and ensures everyone is on the same page regarding what needs to be done and how it should be accomplished.
Quality Assurance: 'Definition of Done' acts as a checklist to ensure quality and completeness of work. If the tasks meet the criteria specified in the definition, it means they are done to the expected level of quality.
Performance Indicator: The 'Definition of Done' can be used as a tool to measure performance and productivity. If tasks are consistently not meeting the definition of done, it could indicate a problem with the process or the task assignment.
Promotes Accountability: By providing clear expectations and guidelines, the 'Definition of Done' promotes accountability among team members. Everyone knows what is expected of them and when their task will be considered complete.
Facilitates Progress Tracking: By distinguishing completed tasks from the incomplete ones, 'Definition of Done' helps in tracking the progress of the project or task, ensuring everything moves forward in an organized manner.
Intriguingly, Nidhi concludes the video with an engaging question related to the 'Definition of Done.' This thought-provoking query serves to reinforce your understanding of the concept and encourages you to apply it in your own unique contexts.

Agreed checklist by the team to hold them accountable for delivering quality objectives by ensuring everyone is aligned. Thanks Nidhi its clear.
I am glad you loved my video.

Very easy to follow video that defines definition of done. Its clear that DoD is a list of criteria that indicates a team member is completed with their specific set of tasks. This is a method that helps provide clarity and enables team members to align on remaining work, and when that work is complete.
That is exactly how you should think. Nidhi

Done with "Definition of Done" with a very much relevant example

Please help on my confusion between definition of done and acceptance criteria.
Definition of done tells what all thinks each one in the team must
do before they can say they have done or
completed their work. This is more from process perspective.
Acceptance criteria tells what should be the outcome expected based on which product owner will accept the deliverables. This is from functionality perspective.
I will make another one for acceptance criteria next.

Option : C
Keep up the good work!! Nidhi
My answer is D since there is no proper testing done so story should mark as incomplete and add to to backlog to re test it
Hello Nitin, Option D is also correct but it is not the BEST answer choice. For PMI exams you should always look for best answer option. Which means something that is providing solution from long term perspective. By defining the DOD, you are basically avoiding any Suchir future occurences where this conflict can arise. This disagreement came because the development team and the PO didn't have a shared understanding of the expectations from implementation. Hope it's clear

The answer choice C is good for a long term solution but what is being done to resolve the issue in the current scenario? It seems like there was no definition of done in the current situation which led to the problem.
Very impressive!! Nidhi
