Yep you read it rite $640,000 per tiny home that you can buy from Amazon and Tesla for around 8k. Today the money for this project is gone and not a single tiny home has been built! We have tiny homes that were built by the state here in Santa Barbara and rhe only reason they did it was because they knew they could rent them out for over $3,000

I live in CA in a community at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains. We have had MULTIPLE fires here in recent years that eclipse anything I, or my parents have seen in this state in the past 70 years. The worst part of it is that I'd be hard pressed to argue against the notion that Newsom and Bass all but promoted more wildfires, and more loss of life over repeated budget cuts towards fire prevention. It's madness for them to push for more CalFire and LAFD budget cuts in the face of these fires, and destroys their arguments about "climate change". If they cared, then why cut the funding?

The value will drop at the next annual assessment but until then you will pay as though the house is still there. You're also having to pay rent somewhere for 3 to 5 years until the house is rebuilt. Naturally most people will sell rather than undergo that ordeal.

Taxes are part of it. If you sell a house for Millions of dollars, they get a lot of taxes on that. If you sell land for Thousands of dollars, you make a lot less taxes on the sale of that property.
