Very sad. I am lucky to have had a glimpse of Queen Elizabeth II, long back in 1961 when she visited Kolkata (then called Calcutta) in India. I was a junior school boy then. We were standing on the roadside to cheer her, when she was passing in an open car waiving hand at the crowd. She was accompanied by her husband Prince Philip, India's prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and West Bengal chief minister Dr BC Roy. Those were the days, with not so much of security protocol as at present. I think strict measures with discontinuance of VIPs travelling in open car started after the assassination of the US President John F Kennedy in November 1963. May her soul rest in peace.
Actually, she remained very accessible to the public - despite the risk. I saw her and Philip in Blackburn (UK) about 16 years ago. The public stood behind a thin barrier. She then walked right next to us, along the barrier, talking to us and accepting flowers, etc. I was so close I could have touched her. It really wasn't safe for them. Meanwhile, Philip walked along the barriers on the other side of the road. At one stage, he even lifted a kid over the barrier, to play with him 😁 I saw the Queen and Philip again in Blackburn in 2014, and they weren't able to walk so far then. And she was so tired from the visit, she fell asleep in the car as it drove away (past us crowds). But she suddenly woke up, realised we were waving at her, and she looked concerned. She then desperately began waving back towards those she had missed waving to (whilst she was asleep). It was like she didn't want to let anyone down, even though she was exhausted. She'll be missed. And it was so beautiful that a rare double rainbow shone over Buckingham Palace tonight, just 45 mins before her death was announced. People can interpret that, according to their personal beliefs. Rest in Peace, Your Majesty.
She was the absolute poster of an empowering women. Devastating to hear the news of her passing and hoping that her legacy will be carried forward with the same vigor and dignity that she showed throughout her entire life.

I am not from the UK but I am devastated. I am so used to seeing her strong even with her age and now she's gone. The world will never be the same without you here, Queen Elizabeth.
1952 is the year she succeeded her father. She ascended to the thrown and became Queen, when he died that year. The coronation was in 1953. Two separate things. She has served as Queen for over 70 years
We knew it wouldn’t be long but to still hear him say those actual words just seems unbelievable. A woman who’s been there for all our memorable lives.
It's definitely not easy to reign for decades in these ever-changing times. She went thru everything: from an era of war and political unrest, WW2, the holocaust, decolonization, man's first mission to the moon, cold war, economic depressions, all up to a new era of social media, high teen suicidal rates, COVID-19, Russian-Ukraine war, digital wars and so much more, I cannot possibly imagine what the life of someone who witnessed all that would be like. No monarch is perfect but Queen Elizabeth II will forever be an undeniable monument of grace and stability in times of unrest. Rest in peace Queen.
Of course it was.. That's how all the news sources work. They have pre-made videos for anyone of note. And.. her entire funeral had been planned for decades. It will be quite regal. She deserves all of it. She was quite an impressive woman! 🖤
My grandmother was born in the same year as the Queen so I've always associated the 2 of them together. My grandmother died last November but with the Queen still alive, I still had that place in my heart. Now she's gone, it feels like my grandmother died all over again.
I've scanned lots of world media and can't find a mention of what stands out to this American as a most significant fact about Her Majesty's life, viz., the very last WW2 veteran to serve as a Head of State.
She managed to shock people with her death even though she was 96 years old. She lived a perfect life and never burdened anyone with any health ailments. The world will never know what she actually died of. Now THAT is class.

I’m an American and I adored her. Admired her loved her. Feel such sadness in her passing. A marvelous Queen and beautiful lady in and out. She’ll be missed.
Although many people I know are Anti-Monarchy, people need to appreciate what she did for us, when she was 10, her Uncle King Edward VIII, abdicated and threw the monarchy in dissaray. In 1940 when she was 14 years old, Windsor Castle was bombed during the blitz... she went against her council and forced her way to join the war effort and joining the ATS where 345 of their members were killed, she was 19. Yes, there are controversies, but, she brought peace and stability to her country through her own efforts, creating the commonwealth and guiding the British Empire to a peace and orderly end; unlike every other empire before it, which always fell in flames. Rest In Peace, Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II 🙏 ❤

Firstly we need to be human beings and in that way I express my condolences. No matters what wrong she did I think she is admirable just for the fact of being ahead of so many difficulties and because all of the experiences she passed trough. People who don't know about history or culture can not measure the cultural impact Britain's crown had trough the history of the whole world. I love Britain culture because they do not mix political affairs with cultural affairs. It is not bad to keep those roots still alive as it remember us where we came from.

As a women and a queen who never used even 1% of her power she was the perfect queen RIP ma’am
She had an important job, and she did it as well as could possibly expected. She will be missed, RIP from Canada.
That was a big honor for the world to had a great lady of a great country 🇬🇧💔
