Thanks! One of my favorite movies back in the day! My friend served in the united states Navy on that same ship. God bless you matthew! 😀 "I'm the Cook" 😛
I hate people who just want to rag on Seagal and dismiss his early films. I watched Under Seige in theaters with a big group of friends, it was THE film to see at the time.
What up Matt. I love action movie is awesome. It comes after his Action Movie debut Above The Law. I really wonder what happened to the director Andrew Davis in our days? I am hoping that he alive 🤞🤞🙏. I love Tommy Lee Jones. He is one of talented, great actors. He did a phenomenal job with the Villian roles.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 1. The first time I saw it I was in the Navy eating at a Mexican Restaurant in San Diego. 2. In the book the ship's an aircraft carrier. 3. "We'll just blame the cook." 4. Tommy Lee Jones says he's never not liked a character he's played. He also said that he doesn't have a job, just a hobby that pays very well.🤑🤑 5. Krill would have commanded the Marine to "stand fast" not "stand firm" 6. That was President and Mrs. Bush. 7. Seagal now lives in Russia.
29:55 I was always curious about that one, just because the whole plot idea of "Die Hard in a casino" sounds very interesting and would have been fun location for that type of film. Fun fact Matt, Stallone was also attached to star in another Die Hard rip-off at that same time, titled No Safe Haven. It was described as "Die Hard on Martha's Vineyard" and was about militia-like cult (something like villains from Far Cry 5 i'm guessing) who take over that entire island during large hurricane, and kidnap president's wife and daughter, but he escapes and joins up with disgraced ex-marine, who would have been played by Stallone, who was visiting his mother when the whole take over happened, and two of them would then battle the cult members and save everyone. Stallone however went and did Assassins and Daylight instead, and while i do really like those two, i always wished there was some way for him to also star in High Roller and No Safe Haven during that time (1995-1996). 40:40 I have that original Dreadnaught spec (and few later revised drafts) and it's really good script, definitely worth $1 million which Lawton got for it in my opinion. And there's enough differences between it and the film that honestly you could take that spec and re-use it for remake, which i think they're still developing. Also Matt, here's another fun fact for you; That spec was also offered to 20th Century Fox and Joel Silver to be possibly re-written into Die Hard 3, when they were planning on the film to take place on a ship, but they rejected it, and instead went with another one titled Troubleshooter. Then they hired W. Peter Iliff, since he wrote Point Break which turned into huge hit, and had him re-write that script few times and change the story so that it was about McClane and Holly on a Caribbean cruise ship which gets taken over by terrorists who threaten to blow it up with bomb. But of course, once Fox realized how Under Siege was in development, that version of Die Hard 3 was cancelled. Funny how Fox basically screwed themselves up by rejecting Dreadnaught spec in first place. And btw Matt, despite what many people still think and say, no Speed 2: Cruise Control was NOT based on that rejected Die Hard 3 script. It's just another one of those bullshit movie sequel myths, like how Die Hard (1988) was originally written as Commando 2, or how Die Hard With A Vengeance was originally Lethal Weapon 4 script, none of which are true. Funny enough Matt, something similar involving original scripts being turned into sequels to hit action film happened to Under Siege 2, and unproduced Under Siege 3 in mid 90's but that's the whole other story. 42:30 I wish i could go into lot of details about Screaming Steel and how Cameron's and Lawton's script and how good it is, but unfortunately, i don't think there's enough space here to do that, and this is already big comment, lol! But basically, that plot synopsis you read gives you pretty much the whole basic story, and i'll tell you this Matt, since i know you are big fan of Cameron's early work, back when he was making hard R rated films with darker and serious tone, i think you would have loved Screaming Steel too. I say this about lot of unmade films i'd love to see, but this is one of those cases where it really, really sucks that this one wasn't made. I'm not sure would it work nowadays without some big story changes, since Cameron took lot of the parts from it for Avatar. 59:39 I could be wrong here Matt, but besides that extra line, there is also a shot in the trailer showing Seagal knocking out another one of the guards while he's sneaking on the ship, but this is not in the film. Although i can confirm to you that similar part is in the script drafts which i have, but i don't know why would it be deleted. If i remember correctly, Ryback either kills or knocks out the guard, and then picks him up and throws him into the sea.

The seventies eighties and nineties were the golden age of action movies

I honestly like the sequel even more.
