      Im a Manchester United fan, but people that cannot see that Grealish is a quality footballer do not understand football, Grealishes technical level is extremely high, his ball carrying is elite and if you ping a 40 yard pass over to him he will control it dead, it is Pep's system which is killing Grealish, and you can see the same thing is starting to happen with Odegaard at Arsenal.

    • @oscarnator230
      @oscarnator230 20 часов назад +5

      @rjflores438 Man Utd fan too mate, you're reiterating what the video says and I agree to an extent that he's been slowed by City's play style. But to have 0 output for that long in a heavy possession based and consistently winning club such as Man City is insane considering he's also had plenty of shots in the past year. The system should also work for him to become a creative front for City as well, but again 0 output. €117 million for that is still inexcusable. But I don't understand football as you've stated so I guess just take my opinion with a grain of salt?

      @dragogaming5552 He wasnt payed He literally could have left whenever he wanted. He obviously is enjoying himself at manchester City and therefore feels no need to change, fair enough tbh. Pep Guardiola has ALWAYS stuck by this policy: "if a player shows any interest in leaving City, let them leave with little to no resistance and rebuild", it was the same case with Mahrez, Gundo, Aguero, Palmer, Laporte, Alvarez, Cancelo, Sterling, Jesus, David Silva, Sané etc... No matter the quality he rarely denies a player a transfer, as long as the offer is somewhat reasonable of course. Yet Grealish, knowing this, never in his time at city expressed any displeasure. That speaks volumes to the fact that he is responsible for his own downfall.

    The thing about Grealish is that he was never the player to score that much or even assists most of the seasons.
    Even at Villa in his best premier league season he had just 8 goals, and in his best overall premier season he had 6 goals and 10 assists, the only season where he managed double digit assists btw.
    Guardiola wanted him for his amazing ball retaining skills, having a "decoy" player who can maintain possession in the final third while the team reorganizes itself, a lot of goals in the treble season came because of this. Guardiola didn't need his wingers to be a goalscoring threat and if you notice the players with the best stats were Haaland and KDB, Man City played like that, the wingers are not fowards really, more like "side midfielders".
    Granted he should still score more goals, that's an aspect to criticize in every player, but he was good for 22/23 in what Guardiola needed him to do, which didn't grant a 100m price but still.

      That's peps system... you don't beat a man on the wing. You pass backwards when you're in the final third
      You are supposed to smother the box and play intricate passing patterns in and around ot to encourage mistakes. All pep wide players do this
      Thierry Henry was once interviewed about pep and his time at Barcelona. Henry was shoved onto the left wing. At one point, he broke away on the left, beat his man, cut inside, and scored a goal.
      Henry got subbed soon after in that match for not following the system

    Inside forward that tried to beat men to make space at Villa, then initially asked to play outside forward to draw double coverage for City when they had no dedicated striker and a rotating frontline, and now a water carrier in a possession system looking to draw players out of position to give mismatches for Haaland. Not the first player to go through this - Downing, Milner, Joe Cole etc were all sequentially drained of their attacking verve to meet some "team" objective ahead of personal achievement.

    • @RenegadeShepard69

      differece is these players can adapt. Grealish cannot. Now if his manager can't see that then that's his problem too, not just the players. It's like Guardiola thinks he can turn anyone into a iniesta xavi super midfielder who bosses the game mostly from passing the ball around just with his "system".

    Jack Grealish is a solid technical ball carrier, but this year, that does not matter if his attackers cannot score or if his defenders concede goals. The Pep system might be falling apart all around Grealish, but he cannot shoulder the burden to attack by himself even if Pep freed him from the rigid system. Grealish is not a world-beater. The overdependence on Kevin De Bruyne and Rodrigo, who are both aging and injury prone, to drive the midfield has come back to haunt Manchester City. Pep's defensive system is focused on positioning instead of skilled, aggressive 1v1 defenders, and the injuries to John Stones and Ruben Dias has exposed the system. This is a theoretical analysis because I do not watch Premier League matches any more.

      @@Roman_mcxviiI disagree, whilst the basic premise of his tactics (high possession stats, slowish build up, playing from the back etc) remains the same, pep can adapt and has adapted his tactics consistently at city anyway. His build up has been constantly changing, with a 3 at the back being used, stones in dm, inverted full backs and now inverted centre backs playing in the wide positions .Also Pep created a whole title winning system around not having a striker, playing wingers and attacking midfielders in a false 9, then changed the whole attack to suit a striker in Haaland and then won a treble

    There are loads of players who are the talisman for smaller clubs, everything revolves around them, they take pens, play their favourite position etc. and they therefore do really well. When they go to a bigger club and they’re not the best player in the squad they lose those privileges, maybe don’t play as much or play a bit out of position at times and therefore they don’t look like the same player anymore.

An average player who occasionally produced magical moments, but was never good enough to be in a top 5 Club. Grealish had 1 good year in 22/23 but he is still nowhere near that 100 million value, the reasons he gets little to no backlash are:
    1. He plays for city

    3. He's a good guy

    • @rjflores438

      Im a Manchester United fan and I believe Grealish is a top elite technical footballer that should be played as a number 10, especially a left 10, and he would be ideal for Amorims system at United. Grealish is a ball carrier that creates space for other players. You can see for England under Carsley where he has scored 2 goals for England recently that he is better when given freedom and not in a rigid Pep system.

    Judgin Grealish skills is a fine conversation, but Grealish is either benched mid game or the next game literally any time he shoots the ball at the net. Pep wants a 0G 20 Assist Grealish, and his lack of assists can be spoken of. He seems like maybe after an injury at City he stopped trying to run and cut past the defender and center the ball as much. Or maybe another reason.
    Last year he started 2nd leg of ucl semis and only got subbed off for doku after taking a shot, and doku immediately cut in and centered the ball for the equalizer. But the team lacks confidence to respond well to each other. Grealish last week was the main "attack" for the first half vs Aston Villa. He actually cut in and centered the ball atleast twice where no one was moving forward from City. Some point near the end of the First half he took a really poor shot as well.
    Next game benched.

    Its tough i think because we know he is a good player, but hes a cog in the machine for pep like you said. The creativity freedom are given to other players not him and hes a tool for someone like KDB to use. At villa he was important and was the star man no matter what. Here in man city he is stripped of the creativity since there were better choices and told how he need to do things instead of thinking of ways how to create space. Hes being told to hold the ball up to create space like this specificly so the team can get into position.

    • @ant777a
      @ant777a 19 часов назад

      @carlinytc7431 saka is world class and so is vini but grealish is just good because he can elevate a team to a good standard not to a world class standard. Maybe I'm looking at the Aston villa version too much but he is a good player that can elevate a team's standard performance. Saka being defined as good is criminal since it's harder I believe to stand out from a good team. Thomas party is good not world class but definitely good since he does his job well (this is my opinion of what kind of standard I'm looking at). Saka is a player that does more than what his job requires. If being good requires 2 men to mark saka then we should put grealish Aston villa version world class but we all know he's not. Sure he's minimum decent at man city but if we're looking at what he can do he's a good player. He has something but he's still been stunted at man city due to pep making him a cog rather than letting him be a bit more free. He's not standing out on a team where there are a lot more talented players I think but there is definitely a player that can elevate a mid table team to compete for a Europa league spot. Zaha at crystal palace I think is also a good comparison since he was a type of player you could build around to challenge for Europa league if done well. U would probably try to mark zaha out of the game just like grealish at Aston villa. Not the same type of player but probably had the same type of purpose. Put pressure on the attack with the skill set U had.

    Sir Alex Ferguson crippled England by making the players combative and making the club rivalries stronger, which caused the English teams to fail to gel. Pep harms England national team by denying them of a few players who could have been great. Foden, who it seems cannot be good for any team besides City, Grealish, who has become a blunt knife, Stones, who is rarely fit, Walker, whose attacking output from Spurs days has all but finished, slight as it was. Even Sterling, who was a much better player for England before he joined City, and who has been a massive failure everywhere since he left. Luckily Palmer, Lavia etc escaped that hell in time.
