- this app changes the game for livestreamers, video creators, and geeks like me. It allows me to control and fine tune all my studio lights seamlessly. My studio tour is messy like it should be and yet functional as I need it.

Gosh I really love all the different textures and the overall “vibe” of your space! So incredibly cool.
Thanks! I love it too :D
Kickass video and walkthrough. Bookmarked for reference and future purchases.
Awesome
Awesome!! I was really curious about your studio for a while :)
Thanks for watching! Hope it helped you out
Ooo no, no no no no, not more apps, please, no god no, ooeoee streamdeck control, okay ill allow it, but I swear Amaran, if you unlink siduslink compatibility to split up the pro line an creator line i will shit on you carpet.
Lollll
Definitely not within our plans to split up capability between apps. Just giving more options to different levels of creation and user.
@@Maxwell_Miranda That's great to hear! I was kidding of course I hope it didn't come off offensive haha, but thanks for the confirmation :)
Thank you, loved the video, it was really helpful and that's true, studios usually look messy hehehe! 👊
Thank you. Interesting to see your setup and extremely helpful to hear about the new Amaran app. I hadn’t noticed it before and I am super excited that there is a desktop version and Stream Deck support.
They just announced the new app today, def go check it out
REALLY great, practical content, Heather! Very nicely done.👏🏻 Hard to miss the awesome Phineas and Ferb shirts and "PERRY the Platypus!?!!?!?" on your desk...even the teal shoelaces! Hmmmmm....dark teal & nearly orange seat!? VERY cool! Have you worked with Dan & Swampy? Tried to find an imdb for you, but no luck! ~Adam
This was a fire tour.. Love how genuine it was.. Question, do you record your audio directly onto the mac and then sync in post? If not where do you record your audio to. (While using the Rode NTG5)
I record it using Garageband and then sync it in post
Was considering making a video breaking down that process, would that be interesting?
@@FellowFilmmaker That definately would. And your video inspired to finally get on the ball and do a studio tour. After 5 years of doing youtube and home relocations , i never got to do a full studio tour because it was never super neat. i work from home so i have things usually over my desk lol.. Great Video
Sweet! I'll work on doing that soon hopefully
Yeah, lol, I know how you feel. I thought about making it look nice cuz everyone does that, but I felt like that wasn't authentic to me and how I've always worked. I mean a nice neat space would be cool, but likely wouldn't stay that way anyway
So, go make that studio tour!
@GeraldUndone you should review this one.
We are awaiting his reply, lol
I wonder why the 4:06 key light (Zhiyun X100) is connected to a wall outlet instead of being powered by the battery ;)))
Lol, cuz I didn't want to keep charging it up since I run it for several hours at a time. But when I do want it more mobile I'll toss the battery on
A very nice realistic studio tour.
A. What light used in the big soft box?
B. What is the size of the room? Is it like 10×10?
The room is roughly 11X13'
And the light in the big softbox is the Zhiyun x100: geni.us/8QC4Y
I want Gerald Undone to review your studio.
Lol, he def should :p
Sooo fancy~ Voice activated and everything 🗣
Yep, next thing you know I'll have a robot personal assistant in there #writeoff
Can someone link the Vera Pole thing please? I have no clue what the spelling is. I've been looking for something like this for a while.
Here you go, just put it in the list since I forgot: geni.us/CrOzwq
@@FellowFilmmaker awesome, thank you.
Great video! Thanks! I'm looking for something like the varipole but longer to go across a 23' room. Any suggestions?
The Varipoles do have extensions you can purchase but if you're going horizontal that probably isn't a great idea. The more distance the more 'sag' there is and a greater risk of it all coming down.
You're probably looking at something very permanent that mounts solidly into the walls or ceiling. Classic grid system of some kind (like they use for productions). Unless you're in a place with drop ceilings already (like a classic work office space) then you could look into scissor clamps for video lights to mount up.
@@FellowFilmmaker Yeah, that's what I was wondering bout Varipoles. Thanks again!
Because of RUclips I have accumulated over 140 pieces of lighting, new in the box that I don’t know what to do with all that stuff I don’t need 😩
listing on eBay one by one.
I use the Rodes and I'm not a fan. The float 32 is all over the place. Sometimes it records quiet and sometimes it's loud with no why or how. Thinking of going back to my Zoom.
I see you use the amaran lightsaber as well. :)
haha yep
Hello miss! Tell me please which brand and model of your holder of battery that you've used for grip your battery to tripod. Thank u.
I'm using Bebob batteries and I attach it using a v-mount clamp.
Something like this: amzn.to/3McwhRX
some VERY subtle flexing 😂 filmmaker routine, set up rig here then there, like 10-12 sets a day?
This is a very good reminder that its ok to have a mess if it leads to practical use and good set design
Haha thanks
And yes, that's why I made this video like I did, to show it can be 'messy' and that be ok
I need this type of lighting with app controls in all future film shooting... I like it. I have creating this type of shooting Master scene lights, but I dont know setting the app...nobody guides me..this is my idea also..At the same time, how to setting the app program pls teaching me properly... I want to study that... Already I have convey the live your video... Thq 🙏
I have the 60x light as well. I find the fan quite loud though compared to the 200x. Do you find that to be a problem with it being so close to the mic?
OK wow!
I was soooo pissed at Amaran for not having any Streamdeck simple to use app for 2 years already. Came out of the blue I guess. 😂
Thanks for the amazing info and the nice tour. 🤗
Right, lol! I'm glad they finally did it
@@FellowFilmmaker the UI is very small on my side tho (MacOS app). How did you managed to increase its size?
Nvm, Apple's feature of opening a mobile app on MacOS, forgot about that one... 😒
Great idea with the edge light. Your videos can get edgy--especially when talking about pancake lights. =) haha. Good video!
lol :D
ProAM USA makes Aluminum Yoke Mount for Amaran P60c. Best 60 bucks I ever spent.
So glad I watched this to learn about the new app/StreamDeck integration. I have an Elgato Keylight Air but a 60x over to the side and having to fire up Sidus Link separately was such a pain.
I hear ya, I'm glad they integrated
@@FellowFilmmaker I'll just mention here in case anyone else is experiencing this that I'm having trouble getting the desktop version of the app to work on PC. I added the light via phone app, which then pulled over to the desktop app via Cloud sync but for whatever reason it doesn't want to connect. Hopefully this is just some bugs they need to iron out because I would really like to be able to use the Stream Deck integration (but you need to have the Desktop App setup for it to integrate).
Why I do not know about the desktop version of amaran app? :D I wonder if it also works with aputure big brothers? :D
They just announced it today :D
Great question, I just pulled out my MC really quick (which is aputure) and it worked with the desktop app
So it might seem like so, I'll have to test further with my other lights which are packed away at the moment
@@FellowFilmmaker So as amaran sponsored you had a head-up :D. Nice :D
Going to test the app, although I do not have a computer in my studio anymore :D.
They also have (aputure) Sidus Pro app, but it's only for iPad OS :( and I think you need Sidus One Pro or Sidus Four for it to work.
Any Sidus Mesh enabled fixture will connect with either amaran app. Just simpler controls and easier to use UI.
@@Maxwell_Miranda Have to check the mobile version then first, because Sidus link is not that stable (disconnect a lot, when it's running in the background on the iphone or android).
PERRY THE PLATYPUS AND DR DOOFENSHMIRTZ!!!! Great video and love the practicality of your studio!!! Removing the barriers to just getting stuck in and shooting is so important for me brain - loved this advice.
So glad you enjoyed :D
Thanks. Great job as always.
Thank you :D
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Loving it !!! There are Gear RUclipsrs and Heather now. You're the best! 👍
what remote control do you use to control all your lights?
Great video and great setup. It's very nice that you show that the beautiful studios youtubers are in is almost always just a stage for recording. I learned from your video that I need more storage and lights eheh but probably also space for all the painting supplies 😅😄
Yep, everything has it's place :D
That's nice. Thanks for sharing!
Loooooove this! How are you interfacing with the StreamDeck? Multi-action? I see the keyboard shortcuts section in the Amaran app, but how are you assigning the lights?
Doing it all from the stream deck configuration deck really
So... the Rode NTG5 does answer a few questions. I think I mentioned in some of your videos a bit of "warble" in the audio, which is indictive of using a long shotgun mic in a very reverbarant room. Personally, in that room with the brick walls and having a table right under you, I would suggest trying a small diaphragm condenser mic instead. The NTG5 is a great mic with low self noise and very good off-axis rejection. But it is prone to warble indoors.
I appreciate the input
I actually don't have brick walls in the room tho, that's just a photo canvas wall cover thing :p
You are fun to watch heather thanks for the tour.
Great paint. What level of gloss is it?
the wall? its' eggshell
if you were referring to the mist filter, it's 5%
@@FellowFilmmaker the greenish paint. Is it matte, satin, or glossy?
the kind I got is called eggshell which is a matte paint
This is excellent! I've thought for a long time that I needed more space, but it turns out I just need to organize my small space more efficiently. Gotta get one of those gear carts. BTW, I bought a set of Amaran p60 Cs as a result of your demonstration/recommendation. Very versatile. I rigged up a yoke (the one thing they lack!) for one of them to make it even more versatile. Thanks for what you do!
Love to hear that! Glad all the videos are helping you out
Who is recording this? :D
My wife did :D
I was wondering the same thing as most of the time the camera angles are very static. I often wonder how many people are in the background making all this "magic" happen.
@@FellowFilmmaker Lucky you. She did a great job. Mine is really supportive in SOooo many ways however I do not believe that this task is one she would particularly want to participate in. Do y'all work together full time or?
Isn't it a heat Hazard keeping your Laptop on That Panel?
Nah, it's been fine. When I'm doing crazy stuff I'll move it off anyway
What kind of battery and stand do you have that tube light on?
the battery is the one that comes with the t4c and the stand I'm using the monopod legs of an ifootage monopod
Sir. From Where did you buy the carpet? Thanks
Got that off amazon after I had an unfortunate accident with my old one lol: amzn.to/4cOEzdT
Hey Ferb, I know what we are going to do today... Really digging the Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus shirts. Phineas and Ferb is a great show. LOL. I also like your Perry the Platypus mascot on your desk.
Lol I was hoping someone would notice the perry on the desk :D Good eye
The mobile app seems to be better than sidus link :D. Although it seems there is no way to put the power via keyboard, just via the slider, which is really annoying :D.
Did you try the keyboard shortcut section to do that or no?
@@FellowFilmmaker Are you talking about mobile app too? Or desktop app? Haven't seen keyboard shortcuts in the mobile one.
🎉🎉🎉 Thank you for the tour!
I absolutely loved it!
So glad!
great tour... and great teaching, thanks :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
the intro to this video was edgy..
:p. lol
Lot of things changed inside the studio. 💜 Who's your camera man? 😆
Yeah, certainly has since the last time I did a studio tour three years ago
and my camera operator was my wife
@@FellowFilmmaker Great! Love to hear about her. By the way, forgot to mention that you amazing, as usual. 💜
Where do you hide your mic and how?
Magic
Or under my shirt using the accessories that come with the lav
This is really thought-provoking. Like you, I have a sit-stand desk. *Because* of you, I purchased a Varipole pair, one of which I use to support the lights that provide the background. But I have my "talking head" camera and my key light mounted to the desk, rather than the second Varipole. This is because I'm terrified that I will break either my camera or my key light by raising the desk to standing position. How do you avoid that?
What do you mean you think you'll break them? Could you explain how?
You totally can mount a camera and light to a desk setup that stands. Super easy to do. Feel free to email me about this if you like
@@FellowFilmmaker Sorry, I don't think I was clear: I do have the talking head camera and key light mounted to my sit-stand desk. I don't mount those items to my second Varipole because if I did it would risk a collision between the fixed camera/key light with the rising desk.
Oooh got it
In that case I just make them be far enough apart to not collide. The keylight gets tricky tho if you have a large dome on it since it'll be in the way a bit. There is a way to do it all if you have a very large area, but most offices don't.
@@FellowFilmmaker Thanks. I definitely am in the "don't" column so I'll leave it as is!
Great to see you are back in the swing of things!
Cool cozy studio.
thanks!
Damn that's an awesome setup. Impressive how you squeezed all that equipment into such a small space.
thanks! I've managed to get the most out of it
Ooooh, the energy level of this video is a couple of steps up, really good one, loving it :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your work; love that you've made a place for yourself in the You Tube space. The heck with the haters, they can kick rocks🪨
thank you :D
