I had this in a video tape as a kid and have spent years trying to find this cartoon. Thank you to whoever posted this, it was like stepping into a time machine.
@@tylerknox6352 _Return to Oz_ wasn't an adaptation of "Wizard," so Toto wasn't obligated to come along. In fact, in the books, Dorothy went on her second and third trips to Oz without him.
I had this on a vhs that had a bunch of other cartoons as a kid, I also remember seeing a one piece trailer on it. Other than that thank you for uploading this treasure of a childhood memory💛
It's funny because even though it's super condensed and there are still some parts missing, it's not that far from being accurate from the book. It included Dorthy getting home with the advice from the Witch of the South.
That Rabbit is voiced by Cam Clarke, who did Leonardo in Ninja Turtles, Dogtanian, Kaneda in the Akira dub and a lot more. His voice is so distinctive (And awesome) I always recognise it.
I remember this on an old VHS I was given as a child. It had three stories on it, and this was the first. The third was ali baba and the forty thieves, which I also found here: ruclips.net/video/kp4YGH2yLCY/видео.html The second has still eluded me, but I believe it was another 1001 Arabian Nights tale.
I was sure that I would never ever see this cartoon again, but after a quick RUclips search - here I am. Thanks so much for posting, now I want to see them all! Puss in Boots, Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves... and does anyone remember those Ronald McDonald cartoons?!

At least four; this one, the "Funky Fables" version, the four-season T.V. series, which actually covers four of the books, and of course the feature-length one.
@The Media Of Oz Interesting! Are there any clips here on YT? And I just remembered the one known as _The Galaxy Adventures of Oz,_ which is a sci-fi take on the story.
I only know about a 1982 anime film adaptation, and a 1986 anime TV series adaptation. This is NEITHER of those things... yet it may or may not be anime. I'm not sure. Like Zoitality I am hoping someone might be able to provide information about what version this is. Does anyone know what year it was made? The title of the series? How many episodes it had? What country it was made in? What company made it? Even brief clues might help us figure this out.
The sound balance on this is TERRIBLE. I kind of like it otherwise, but there are whole segments where I don't have a clue what the characters are saying, and even if you already know the story, that ain't good.
Tin man:Oh u two look like ur off to see the wizard I think I'll just invite myself to come along with u! Scarecrow: u know what tin man u sure r rood!!!!
Does anyone know what company worked on this particular version of Oz? There's multiple different anime of Wizard of Oz, and if anyone knows more about this specific version, where it came from or who worked on it, I'd love to know!
I could've sworn i remember this to be much longer when i was younger l, if only they made a longer version of this film to make it like a 1 hour movie because i really like this version and artstyle of this rendition of the wizard of oz 😢
Oh my goodness, it has taken me fourteen years to find this, you... have relieved me as I swore I saw this when I was a kid however I couldn't find any evidence of it's existence, thank you so much.
=P Thank you for posting this. I've seen another Wizard of Oz anime before, which apparently was an entire series -- but this one is also really nice =)
Yup, there was a series that adapted the books "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" (Book 1), "The Marvelous Land of Oz," (Book 2), "Ozma of Oz," (Book 3), and "The Emerald City of Oz" (Book 6), devoting a season to each one.
This version of the Wizard Of Oz is okay. (I mean I do like anime, and I’m not saying this version of Wizard of Oz is bad, but this isn’t really one of my favorite versions of the Wizard of Oz). My favorite versions of the Wizard Of Oz ever are the book illustrated by Charles Santore, The 1939 Movie, The Tom and Jerry Wizard Of Oz, and especially the Beetlejuice episode “Wizard Of Ooze” (Which is my favorite episode from Beetlejuice ever)
oh man, i havent seen this since i was like 5! haha, any one know what company made this? i remember we had all of them, but i cant remember the others
As a kid, I couldn't stand the audio for this animation. It felt like it was screaming at me from the TV for a solid 10 minutes with no variation in loudness. I kind of want to redo the audio for this. Voice overs, sound effects, music and the such.
do you still have it? the other story was ali baba and the forty thieves. i've been looking for this for the longest time. i would love to show this whole movie to my kids. it was one of my favorites from my childhood.
it's good not bad has an old texture felling like it's from the 90's just wish they can remake i mean not modern it keep it the same the same story i grow up with
I had this in a video tape as a kid and have spent years trying to find this cartoon. Thank you to whoever posted this, it was like stepping into a time machine.
Was it the video tape with like three old legends like this on it?
I've owned this short on one of those one dollar cartoon DVDs made by Digiview Productions from Walmart when I was 14 years old
I definitely remember this on those digiview productions dvd
Same. That same exact scenario💕🤧 Just quite a lot younger
I seem to remember having this on VHS years ago. And yes the music is THIS loud and it totally overwhelms all spoken dialogue.
me too. I just looked this up because I remembered it. Also looked up the animated "Ivanhoe" movie.
"You did us all a favor. it was high time the old battle-axe bit the dirt."
that line always made me laugh.
This was on the Toon Factory DVD
Woody Woodpecker: pantry panic
I had the same DVD when I was kid… hearing the music at the end of the video got me really teary eyed cuz I miss those days
Same here
Same here
This is like a five year old retelling the events after a sugar rush.
For sum reason this made me cry 😢
Who are you telling??? The part that makes me cry is the music at end when Dorothy is talking about her experience in Oz… it’s just nostalgia for me
@@leviackermann9669 yes the part where dorothy gets her wish granted by old man.
This particular anime appeared in a VHS of "My Favorite Fairy Tales" that also included Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and The Magic Carpet.
GreatMewtwo dude I’m glad I’m not crazy I had the same vhs!
Mine was on DVD with the same cartoons
An interesting retelling of "The Wizard of Oz", though short, it manages to tell the story well for the short run time. :)
The weirdest thing about this is Toto was left alone whenever Dorothy was swept into the air into the magical land of Oz
That Toto being left behind happened in two other Oz adaptations Disney's Return to Oz and Broadway's production of The Wiz
@@tylerknox6352 _Return to Oz_ wasn't an adaptation of "Wizard," so Toto wasn't obligated to come along. In fact, in the books, Dorothy went on her second and third trips to Oz without him.

the misc dubbing on this is 100% great
Dorothy looks gorgeous i’m not saying that Judy Garland isn’t beautiful she’s gorgeous too it’s just…. I don’t know how to explain it
The power of Anime Eyes ! 👁👁
The character design is good. Leave it at that lol.
I find it funny that the dog stayed behind in this one, I guess the dog knew he is going to be dealing with flying monkeys and a wicked old witch.
It's funny because even though it's super condensed and there are still some parts missing, it's not that far from being accurate from the book. It included Dorthy getting home with the advice from the Witch of the South.
You don't usually get that; too many adaptations take their cues not from the book, but from the MGM movie.
I used to watch this on VHS. Ah the memories
I remember having a cd of this as a kid. Lost it damn it...
Best version to watch when you’re taking a dump
Man confirmed to take 8 minute dumps
Why this doesn't mesh with Darkside of the Moon at all.
This used to FREAK me out as a kid...still does.
Ahhhhh I watched this when I was super little
I genuinely miss the old cartoons I had on dvd and vhs
Holy rushed pace Batman.
the anime is cute

+George Massey Not to be rude, but that "Rabbit" was Toto the Dog
Haha. That's hilarious XD
+George Massey And also He-Man in He-Man and The Masters of The Universe the 2002 series.

Dorothy has a nice voice :)
The weirdest thing about this is Tara just got left while the house is flying
Tara?
Anime sure looked different back in the day.
Like all animation, it changes all the time, what with hundreds of different people involved in its production.

Dorothy looks weird in this version she never wore a hat but I know she wore a bonnet in the book version
I honestly prefer that sunhat.

This is giving me Flash Gordon vibes. And I like it!

Dorothy was more attractive in this one.
More attractive than what? And do bear in mind that she's a child.
So if someone's too lazy to watch the movie or read the book/cliff notes they could just watch this?
exactly
Lol I remember watching this for the first time and was weirded out back when I was nine! 😂

Nice animation, but the story is really condensed and rushed.
The music is louder than her voice
So technically the scarecrow is actually smart, the Tin Man has a soul and the lion is actually more braver than he thinks
After watching it, I starting to suspect that this may have been a part of an larger anthology series. Maybe Japanese, Indonesian, or possibly Korean.
The first 40 seconds has the escalation of a Jerma or Vinesauce "THIS IS SO LOUD" bit.
omg, didn't know there were SO many anime adaptions of this o.o
