  • I've had this request pop up a few times over the years and I've always pretended not to notice it but I figure it's time I get on with it. Of course, there's nothing wrong with this tune; it just tends to get a bit abused by folks when they're just starting out. But it's worth knowing, if only so that you're not the only one in the session not playing.

    Thank you. Just starting to get the hang of playing my whistle but I'm stuck on playing the tunes that get stuck in my head. But I've not been doing that long. You make it look easy. Thanks again.

      Thanks for the kind words - stick with it, it gets easier (and more fun!)

    Hi, thanks for your tutorials, they are great. There is one song I am trying to figure out but haven't yet. I cannot find the notes posted anywhere for it. It is "May Morning Dew" It's actually the song that got me started on whistle. A great version is played by the Black Velvet with John McSherry -- May Morning Dew. Thanks and all the best to ya'!

      I don't think I know that tune at the moment but I love John McSherry's playing, I'll see if I can dig it up!

    In spite of the hate that this tune receives from many players I think it is a nice tune and I love playing it (especially sometimes when I know a hater is in the room). 😉

    It's not my favorite session tune, but I had a lot of fun bringing a harder edge to it:

    Well that's funny. I've known this song for months but I never knew the name, but still play it all the time anyway. It's weird how that happens in Irish trad, isn't it?
    Although I think part of the reason I enjoy my version so much is because it sounds a bit more... swashbuckling I suppose. Very oceanic. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial and for making the name of this tune known to me. Cheers

      Cheers, glad you dig it! And don't feel bad about not knowing the names of tunes, I'm *terrible* with tune names and as are most of the people I play with hahaha

    Ah man ! Forget the lousy digitalized midi jig-a-jig version. Ya need to play this for 'live' dancers. For God's sake man, it's a lively, lively SLIDE - Cork/Kerry style. This will only ADD to your performance - believe me !

    I've watched almost all of your videos and learnt a lot from you in the past few years, thanks! You are highly skilled but do you really need to burp so many notes?

    • @whistletutor
      @whistletutor  5 лет назад +1

      Glad you're getting something from the videos! I'm not sure what the definition of burp is, as it pertains to music anyway - what do you mean?
