    I'm always amazed at what you can do with your bits of steel that you fit together into something very professionally. I don't know much about lathes, however it looks like you made your own "Morse Taper", and the centering looks great. Well done. But you must make yourself a tripod and camera holder so you don't have to show stuff with one hand and hold the camera in the other hand 😅

    • @Homemadelathemachine
      @Homemadelathemachine  7 лет назад

      Morse taper hole can be done in two ways. The first method is carved on a lathe cutter. The second method is a special tool, I do not know what it is called in English, that's his photo www.bit-instrument.ru/images/razvertka_konicheskay_150r.JPG
      There are problems with shooting video at the moment I do it on camera smartphone.

      The name of that tool is a reamer, the one with the "teeth" is a coarse one and the one with the straight spines is a fine one.

    • @BrassLock
      @BrassLock 7 лет назад

      Homemade lathe machine Thanks for the link - the two reamers appear to make the internal half of the job accurate. The turning of the external shaft surface would be the most difficult I guess.

    • @BrassLock
      @BrassLock 7 лет назад +1

      Getbent97 For a 20 year old you are quite knowledgeable about these things 😄

    • @Getbent97
      @Getbent97 7 лет назад

      Why thank you sir! I try my best, knowledge has never gone astray, one of those things you can never have too much of so long as its being used in the correct manner. You are also correct about the reamers making the internal part accurate. Basically speaking you are meant to turn, drill, mill etc slightly undersized and then ream it out. The reamer is more precise and removes less material than say drilling and because you aren't using high speeds to remove material there is less chance of the reamer wandering, flexing and so on which can cause a slightly misshapen hole. It also gives a much nicer surface finish than by just used a drill bit or milling it out.

    AWESOME Job👍; I Like This Design A Lot Better Than The First Tail Stock, It Seems To Be Smoother! Its Always Rewarding & Fun To Improve On Ur Previous Designs Isnt It☺! Im Working On Designing A Bandsaw, Based On A Plan In A Popular Mechanics Book About Making Ur Own Tools From The Early 1900's, Using Bike Wheels For The Bandsaw Blade Wheels! Now I Just Need To Stop Adding To My Design & Actually Build It😀😀! If I Might Add One Thing, You Might Want To Put A Shield Around Ur Motor/Drive Box Connection, Just In Case You Ever Have To Work On A Long Piece When Milling(Depth Wise, Front Of Lathe To Rear) Because I Noticed It Might Hit The Motor/Drive Box Connection & That Would Not Be A Happy Day! Im Sure We've All Had Bad Days Like That & Dont Wish To Repeat Them, I Know I've Had Them😶😶!! Again Its An AWESOME Tail Stock & Lathe- Good Job☺!!!

    The screw lever of your Turret tool post shouldn't face the head stock, you can use shims to have the lever turn away from headstock. Buy very very nice work, very good

    Вячеслав, саму піноль ви точили на цьому ж станку?

    • @Homemadelathemachine
      @Homemadelathemachine  7 лет назад

      Піноль це шток гідроциліндра Ф35 мм, а корпус труба гідроциліндра з отвором Ф35. Труба шліфована та хромована, тому шток ідеально входить у трубу без люфтів. Єдине що довелося робити не на моєму станку це отвір конус морзе 3.

    How much did lathe cost you so far?

      Very cheap, because all parts are made in my garage

    • @zumbazumba1
      @zumbazumba1 7 лет назад

      Yea but still its a bunch of steel that you have to buy,did you spent less than 1000€? And hows the accuracy of your lathe?That would be my biggest argument for not doing it yourself,and probably all the parts would cost me more than buying used large one for 2000€.

    • @Homemadelathemachine
      @Homemadelathemachine  7 лет назад

      I spent less than 400 euros.
