So my grandparents and I don't go to church much but we try to help still. We have had to go to the Bishop's store house to get food. But im glad that this month on the 15th i get to go help out at the bishop's storehouse. Which makes me happy
In the darkest time of My families existance, about 10 years ago. Fast offering is how we ate for 6 months. Many don't understand the blessing it is in the lives of the needy. It's a miracle completely.
@@samking7195 man its been 2 years were both teachers now I hope you'd be doing well bro stay on the path and be prepared for new beginnings I hope 3 years from now we can serve a mission
Having been through my dad being laid off multiple times, this resonates with me. My parents have always been good about paying tithing and fast offerings, and I remember being scared. One night I was praying, and my heart felt full. I knew we were going to be okay. I believe my family was blessed because we tried to obey all the commandments, including paying tithes and offerings. I remember that even when we weren't doing so well financially, we would still pay tithes and offerings.
marcie phipps , i think u gave great family, stay positive i pray for u and ur family for good health and happiness. I think that is the most important thing in life.
I live around this area, and I was freaking out because I knew almost every location they showed. But that is not all I focused on of course, this video shared a really powerful message and really focused on how we have a lot of trials in life and how fast offerings truly help. They sure do help my family a lot, and I am thankful for that :)
We grew up poor but my folks always paid their tithes and offerings. Even though we had rough times in those early days we persevered. My dad quietly told me when I came home from the Great Northern States Mission, that they had never been as well off financially. The setting of that great example turned all of us into full tithe payers. My folks are gone now but there influence is strongly with us.
Nolan Bowen Thank you for your service on your mission, Nolan! And thank you for your service otherwise and for sharing this wonderful comment!! We used to live in Alaska and had Bowens in our ward up there! They were a great family with seven boys!Love, Gay Crozer Michaelis. ❤️👍🤗👏💕👌👋🙏😇
One of the reasons my father joined the Church while stationed in Utah during World War II was to see the Church's system of caring for others. He never failed to wake up his two sons for service projects or work on Church farms.
This is very special and important. I've been in this position in my life and I'm very grateful for all the care love and support our church has given us. I only wish this was the same in Mexico. Isn't our church supposed to be the same everywhere? In Mexico they can't help you with jobs, It's not even considered a priority. Also they can't help with food. The best they can do is refer you to a member that might have a business. That's all. I know I don't like saying these things but now that I've seen how it is in Mexico I can't help but wonder if these videos are even seen by members in Mexico or these principal even exist for people there. Yes they do fast and they do give fast offerings and yes there are people who have money they are not all poor people. I know as I said before I don't like saying these things and I know that the bissnes of fast offerings and what the bishop and stake dose with it is privet. But, since I've had quite a lot experiences in Mexico and friends and family who live there, well, I'll just share what has been happening there. First off like I said I know it's strictly privet to know where the fast offerings are going but here's what happened. Members have found that in one ward they poketed the money. Now in another ward there is a new bishop and stake presidency but with a problem, the bishop and the stake president are both according with each other and they have been using the money as they see it be, they been giving and promising the money to friends of the Bishops. The secretary left his position because he couldn't stand the hypocrisy and the way they handle the money so carelessly. Also the activities and gatherings are poorly done for the same reason they don't use the money for the members. The members have been scarcely helped. A few people know about what's been going on but to many it's already obvious what's going on. Now not many members are going to those wards on Sunday. They used to be many members going but then those new bishops came. Sorry for the long comment, I just felt happy when I saw this video but then I felt sad.
Gary Cooper Does your ward give fast offering via the tithing slip? Here in Australia, we can do that but Bishop encourages us to save it so the Aaronic priesthood can come collect it - so that they get the experience of serving and being apart of building God's kingdom. I think it may be done differently in different places, though.
Why would Heavenly Father ask us to fast and pray at least once a month when He is all powerful and with His might bless all people that are in need of temporal things? I know everything we are commanded to do for others is purposely planned by God to help us grow and love our neighbor as we love ourselves. In reality, God can do it all for the benefit of His children without our help, and yet He knows that we will be blessed when we ourselves go hungry so others don't have to. And so it is true with everything Heavenly Father ask us to say and do. Are we willing to be part of His helping hands?
I don't understand why this is part of Young mens duty? why can't it just be like, go to the church and privately hand it to the bishop? that process will protect the young men from the risk of misplacing or losing the offering and worst be tempted to steal it.
Kenneth Christopher Daculug Hi Kenneth, one of the reasons the deacons go out and collect fast offerings is to give those who may not come regularly an opportunity to donate money to those in need. They do not collect tithing (since tithing goes toward the church). In doing this personally as a youth, I've found that even when people may be less active in going to church, many of them have a desire to serve others. Donating fast offerings is one of the best (and simplest) ways to serve those in need. The Aaronic Priesthood holders have a responsibility to provide welfare for the Saints (and anyone who seeks help). So in some areas, it is Aaronic Priesthood holders who are sent out to collect offerings to help those in need.
Stephen Gibson we rarely do this in the Philippines. And just to imagine doing this base on our culture, it is very apprehensive and awkward to go to a house of a member that is not active or active to ask if they have offerings or donations to give. I grew up in the church. I have never done this. I think our whole members was not oriented that youngmen can do this though I have read it in our duties and responsibilities pamphlet when I was still youngmen that this is a duty but I have never understood it because no youngmen nor leaders dares before me to do this. I guess they have thought aswell that it's not fit for our state of life and culture to practice this.
Well, I don't exactly know what the answer is but for me it is going to help the youngmen learn to be more responsible and that they will learn for themselves the importance of fast offerings.. I don't really but I think the youngmen will learn something from it. 🙂
Kenneth Christopher Daculug I think it is to expose the young men/deacons, to going out and going door to door to prepare each and everyone for a mission! My second son who was raised longer in the church than my older son(didn’t join the church until I was 16, not long after June at the age of 45!) got or had the opportunity to do this; the both sons got to serve missions! Love, Gay Crozer Michaelis ❤️👏👋👍👌🇺🇸🤗
