    • @andreasweber1533

      Aerial roots; most ficus species develop them in high humidity (near 100% RH).

      @crodgers383 2 года назад

      @@andreasweber1533 In the summer would putting a clear plastic of some type on it...a bubble of sorts to create more heat to encourage aerial roots be a bad/good idea? Or how can you?

    • @andreasweber1533
      @andreasweber1533 2 года назад +1

      @@crodgers383 It's not about heat, but humidity. But yes, improvising a greenhouse for the tree (or even just a branch section) e.g. from a clear plastic bag should work. Just be careful that it doesn't get too hot for the plant (e.g. could happen rapidly if the sun directly strikes such a small enclosure).

  • @drawingfranco7533

    i am newbie, some people and many bonsai tutor in the internet says that ficus is good for beginner. But , i did kill my first ficus, even i live in the tropical country, that so ridiculuous. But yeah , that was happened. IDK what's wrong, in the first 2 weeks, it grow well, even it produce like some kind of seeds or kind of fruits. But, eventhought i water it frequently, but the stem began to ripple, it was like you can peel the tissues of the stems and trunk, the leaves fall out crazily. and it was dead.
    un fortunately, even it's easy to find, but it's hard to find a ficus for a bonsai in nursery here,

However, some species like Ficus religiosa(peepal tree) and Ficus Bengalhensis(Banyan tree) can take more than a week's dry period.I have many of the ficuses and if sometimes I forget to water these trees, they're absolutely fine! But my ficus benjamina variagated gets sunburn if in the Sun without watering even for a day.
