    Apparently in his case he had flirty messages with a minor before finding out her age which caused him to get charged with child endangerment. I honestly think the allegations of SA and the New York Times saying he was a registered sex offender when he’s not is what made him speak out bc it was probably triggering being in a way compared to his abuser

    • @TheBlackSpeed
      @TheBlackSpeed  7 месяцев назад +95

      I agree with that. My opinion on what constitutes SA and all that aside, it's just a shame that the MOMENT the news broke and the MOMENT we saw those screenshots, everyone immediately went to vilify mode before the man could even say his point. It's just sad the way we move nowadays with emotion. We ask for more of it, yet show none of it when it's needed the most.

      It sucks that the New York Times made that mistake and published it. It was called out late and they rewrote it but the damaged is already done.

      That is kind of what happened, there is an interview with mexican host Yordi Rosado, in which Drake talks about how people were calling him names that he would thought about his abuser and that was messing up with him

    His story made me cry, Drake apologized for his acts, and he knows he was wrong for the things he did. He deserves a new beginning. Forgiveness is given, none of us are perfect since we are all sinners.

    • @TheBlackSpeed
      @TheBlackSpeed  6 месяцев назад +21

      Absolutely correct. Isn't forgiveness what it's all about? Sad so many have forgotten that. Some people, to me, don't deserve your forgiveness. But the man is paying for it, paid for it, went through hell, and is trying to come out. We should all aspire to be better than yesterday, I'll always applaud that.

      The negs are ppl who have nothing better to do than run other people down and be critical of everyone. Hurt them before they hurt you attitude. He without sin cast the first stone. Of course drake was still processing his own experience but that when he got help. What about all the victims who are too scared to speak up or reach out for help. I really feel for them. Hollywood is just so cruel and totally fuct up. What’s worse is there are executives powerful people higher up in the industry who kept out of the spotlight. Protecting these predators.

    I, as always, appreciate your take and agree that we are too quick to judge and too slow to forgive. The biggest thing that struck me about this song was how hopeful it was- this is a man who has been through unimaginable things, done awful things, and essentially been cancelled, and yet the song is upbeat and has a message of “I know I was wrong but I’m going to make it right”. And when he was on the Drake and Josh set 😭 I was in my feels with this one!!

    the car accident was a reference to when he was nearly killed back in 2006.... basically another driver was in the complete wrong side of the road and hit him head on... drake's car slammed into a railing barely saving him from tumbling down a hill... his face slammed into his steering wheel which he described as wooden and metal. His chin had a laceration all the way into his mouth he said he was even able to stick his tongue through it... his jaw was completely shattered resulting in the loss of most of his teeth... blood was pouring from his injury as he described it "like a hose" his shirt was soaked and the thing is... despite his injuries he actually went to check on the person who crashed into him and he blamed himself for the crash at the time.... people who witnessed the crash actually had to tell him to go sit down as the other driver barely had a scratch whereas drake had to literally hold his jaw as it was hanging and blood was oozing from it like a faucet.

    8:13 I want to thank everyone who has shown compassion for my brother. It was so upsetting to read the horrible comments about him, knowing everyone was bamboozled by the media's lies. My Lil bro is a good person He would never intentionally harm anyone. He has made it through a horrific time and it's a miracle that he is alive to humbly tell his story through his music and by speaking out in hopes to make a change in the industry where child actors will be protected in the future from now on while working on set. In my opinion what he is doing is very heroic. It takes a lot of courage to talk about what he went through to the public. He is selflessly reliving his darkest days in Quiet on the set. So shame on those who try to defame his character. Your judgment was based on lies.

Like the gentleman in the video said, unfortunately some of the loudest people are the haters, the thing that boggles my mind is that those people judge and hate as if they’ve led a perfect life. Shame on them, we should be building people up not tearing them down. Best wishes to you and your family. Y’all are in my prayers, I believe that everything will work out for good!

      I really appreciate what you're saying and wholeheartedly agree. Too often, too much, too frequently, we immediately see something online, we immediately read something online, and we immediately have an opinion formed. It's like what happened to the empathy? The common sense? The thinking? The critical due diligence part? Drake and many others suffer because kids these days, and even many adults, are too quick to feel and too slow to think. And I'm sorry for that, and will always do my part and do that part in raising my son to not be apart of that foolishness.

    I believe that yes he needed to be held responsible for his behavior but i think that girl should have been held responsible for her lies and behavior as well. I think he deserves to have a chance to atone for his mistakes because its clear that was never his true intentions.
    I think he dropped the song after to documentary because he can finally talk openly about it. He also didnt wait to say something because his predator was caught and held responsible then even if he got a slap on the hand. I cant stand people saying he waited to come forward because NO HE DIDNT he went through the court alone with just his mother and brother while it was kept from the public....he didnt wait he came forward when it happened and they isolated him.

      I can appreciate that you're trying to be supportive, but just so you know, 'jailbait' is not a good term to use. It's exclusively used by predators who prey on minors and then justify it by victim-blaming the minor for being attractive. It's also a derogatory term that was used against Drake when his abuser went to trial, by people siding with Brian Peck.

However, it's not just that, this also tells the story of how reporters are hungry vultures waiting for any misfortune to happen to them so they can eat them alive, it doesn't matter if they have to lie in the process because that's their job, harassing celebrities just for a photo. or a note that generates views regardless of whether they are the ones pushing them into the abyss.

    I personally think this could be the best thing for Drake. He needed this to come out and he needed to open up about this and be able to express himself. I take this song as a way for him to express all of his feelings about what happened to him along with a way for him to acknowledge that some of his choices that he’s made because of the pain that he was suffering was not right and he knows that he has to do better. Which is what he is saying and is just asking that people give him the chance to do better.

      His ex wife was 19 when he dated her (he was 27). One of his ex girlfriends was 16 when he dated her (he was 20). An ex girlfriend also said he likes under age girls. @@TheBlackSpeed exactly! - I hate that argument so so much. Though to refute that Drake has actually told people that his song In The End (released in 2005) is about his abuse some of the lyrics -
      Over my shoulder, under my skin, will you ever return again?
      Wake up
      The monsters in your head have left you
      All to yourself, it's alright
      If ugly little things remind you of how it felt
      It breaks my heart that a 15 year old wrote this.
      and his girlfriend at the time Fefe Dobson (the one whose mum noticed Drakes abuse) wrote a song called Man Meets Boy, lyrics:
      Man meets boy
      Shattered summer
      Broken dreams
      Too young to know
      What he wants is so extreme
      He held you down
      Told you not to scream or cry
      From that day forward baby
      You just wondered why
      They were processing the pain through pretty clear songs (especially Fefe's) it is just very few adults were listening. It boils my blood, these children were crying out.

    Well, I basically know nothing about Drake other than what I’ve seen from the first couple episodes of the documentary (haven’t finished it yet, hubby fell asleep while we were watching) but he seems like a sincere guy who really went through an enormous amount of abuse. If he went on to perpetuate that abuse, that would be bad, but it sounds like he’s trying to take accountability from what I’m hearing? I’m willing to hear him out, especially given his history with traumatic abuse. Not that it’s ever ok or justified to abuse others, but I can see how that kind of history would really mess you up.

    • @TheBlackSpeed
      @TheBlackSpeed  7 месяцев назад +6

      Correct. The abuses are not even REMOTELY close (one was just talking, which was then stopped, but then inadvertently started again due to some lying apparently), and the other is this kid who was repeatedly physically, mentally, s*xually, and psychologically abused. They are not even close to comparable. I believe, and just my opinion, he's absolutely taking accountable and trying to do right.
      100% not justified are okay, but it gives understanding and allows for empathy when the pieces start fitting together. History is a trip..Trauma is a trip. I just hope that if we ever experience deep trauma, we're met with grace. You know?

Obviously most of us haven’t been through anything nearly as bad as what Drake experienced (thank goodness), but I know even I sometimes react out of trauma instead of what’s actually happening. The more I listen to the song the more I love it. It is very Beatlesesque but also I pick up on some Mexican influences, as well.
    The car crash scene isn't connected to DUI. It's from when he was like 19 years old and at a stop light and another car came barreling towards him at 60mph and hit him head on. He lost 9 teeth and had his jaw wired shut for many many weeks due to it being broken in several places.
    The opening scene definitely alludes to Brian Peck. However, I think it's more than that. I think he's deliberately not in the exact likeness of Peck, not in the same environment of the abuse, and the young Drake casted is younger than the real young Drake when he suffered by Peck's hands---I think the very fact that it's a trailer on set is to speak to the greater rape of young childrens' innocence and mere childhood that the industry as a whole commits. It goes much deeper than the physical abuse. At least, that's my take.

    • @TheBlackSpeed
      @TheBlackSpeed  6 месяцев назад +1

      I can agree with that. And yes, I've since learned I was wrong about the car connection. That is absolutely insane. Jeez, as if he needed to go through MORE pain in his life. That's wild.
      I also can agree with that. It's more a commentary of the experience as a whole for child actors rather than Drake himself. For sure. And I think the physical abuse is honestly not even the worst of it. That psychological damage will last DECADES, if not your entire life. That's..something you really can't ever fully fix, only deal with. It's a damn shame, adults failed him.

    • @cathkails
      @cathkails 6 месяцев назад

      An unfortunate truth. He will never be able to escape that reality and it will continue to follow him throughout his life all because of the most self serving, selfish, poor excuse for a human being entering his life.
      On the same note of not being able to outrun his past, I did have an additional commentary pertaining to the video that I wanted to highlight.
      As the various events occur and build throughout the video their sets remain present in the background. A particularly good example of this is after the door is shut on him, and you are left watching him standing on the outside looking in through the window (well placed after getting out of rehab that included trauma therapy...this is his introspective moment), you can see the various sets behind him. This is representing that although those things happened in the past, they are still a part of him and will remain no matter where he goes. They are his reality.
      However, there is a shift after the piano scene. He looks off, as if he has come to some sort of realization. Then he walks towards the Drake and Josh set that now includes a prominent nod to Mexico, and all you see is him standing there, surrounded by this particular set. Then you hear a whisper of "see what's inside." This isn't his reality, however. This represents what's inside his heart. This is what he's choosing to embrace and where he finds comfort, where he finds home. This is echoed by the lyrics "maybe I will arrive in my new home tonight. I will survive."
      By acknowledging his past he's able to find his home and move on...as he walks off the set entirely, towards a backdrop of a plane. Indicating that now he's ready to soar and take new heights rather than stay in the murky depths of below.

    • @TheBlackSpeed
      @TheBlackSpeed  6 месяцев назад +1

      I can't express how much I loved this comment. And when I tell you, I'm still haunted and get goosebumps when I got to the "See what's inside" part and saw that set. He knew what he was doing with that one, just a powerful visual.
      I think everything you set is an amazing take on it, and probably very accurate. I too noticed that shift when he looked inside the home and saw that everyone is gone, everyone left, he's all alone with his thoughts, his memories, his fears, his actions, and he has to go on. But he'll survive that going on, that won't stop him, and he's ready to go now and both deal and grow. And soar.
      Love this. Now I'm in love with the song all over again haha.

    I think the song is like a response to his role in the documentary, I assume he knew he wouldnt have much control over the edits of the doc and I thought it was very smart of him to release that song together with the doc so that people knew about him and what hes up to. Regardless is a very positive song considering all that he went through, he is trying his best and he wants to do better and this is a good msg to put out there for everyone as well as for people who also went through similar things. The song was simple but took me to the 60s, some beatles influence or maybe the zombies, really nice and kinda catchy.

    The “see what’s inside” I believe was intentionally put in there as a reference to Drake and Josh just as he’s stepping back into the replica Drake and Josh bedroom. You’ll notice the voice singing it is not Drakes, it’s Michael Cochran better knows as ”Backhouse Mike” who wrote a lot of the music and theme songs for the Nickelodeon shows in that era. He was also Drakes songwriting partner for the Drake and Josh theme song as well as a lot of his earlier music, I heard recently that he was also in his band back them but not 100% positive on that. Love that he was included in the song, his voice really added an incredible nostalgic element for those of us who grew up watching the show!

Also the part where you thought it was a call back to the theme song of Drake and Josh, he did sample the song at that part. Drake fucked up but he didn't cross that line like his abuser did. If he didn’t know her age , ya he probably shoulda seen some signs but u couldn’t really blame him too much when it apparently started when catfish was still new to texting . I don't think Drake is an opportunist, he's always had this machismo aspect to him, so admitting this stuff happening to him clearly took years. Some people never ever say it. Him and his then-wife might have been doing their own PR, which isn't always the best answer to the issues he was facing since 2020. Some people feel that having someone manage your PR is an admission of guilt, but if he does in fact, now have a PR team, they have helped to restore both his dignity and standing within his community, and that stress he was dealing with and still dealing with can lead to serious health issues for both him and his family, possibly even death. I am happy for Drake and I look forward to his comeback. I don't like the idea that people still think he should be cancelled for his past actions, if he's already been sued and has done his time, there is really no point in him to trip on what's behind him, he'll never move forward and become better that way. Drowning in that sort of hurt and anger is the type of stress I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, it's a recursive stress that can only lead to crime and drug use.

I certainly hope he is sincere, I just fear that him coming out with his story will make people forget what happened to that young girl and I don’t think we should be so quick to forget that. Right now he’s talking the talk, I’ll believe it when he walks the walk

    • @TheBlackSpeed
      @TheBlackSpeed  6 месяцев назад +2

      But why think that, you know? Why lead with that pessimism. And I mean that kindly. I would LIKE to think that we know this is a guy who went through HORRIBLE things, and is now finally seeing a light at the end to get HIS side and HIS story out, and what better way to do it then through music? I don't try to figure it out, I just try to accept it for what is.
      And what happened to the girl? He talked to her, blocked her, moved on, found her again, didn't know it was her, she stalked him, plead guilty, talked about why he plead guilty, she didn't mention him all while the court stuff was happening, he fled to Mexico, the documentary came out, she started posting things again in support of him. Like I don't get it lol genuinely curious what happened to her, other than she was talked to? My man had objects put inside him. She was messaged online and then blocked.
      I'm not saying two wrongs make a right, I am saying one wrong was definitely worse and instilled trauma that we should be empathic about while the other shouldn't cause more than perhaps a session in therapy. I guess what I'm saying is I'm just in the business of wanting people to grow and be better than yesterday, not hold them down to past missteps and mistakes. That includes the mistake of the girl and her parents as well. Some accountability needs to be passed around by all.
