I, actually, was talking about something very similar to this with my therapist. Recently, some people came into town to celebrate our twins 12th birthday. Now, they know that me and my husband tell each other about everything. We don't keep things hidden. Now, someone confided in me that she wanted to protect someone's feelings, and she wasn't going to tell him that a gift that she was giving to our daughter was a gift that he had given her several years ago. Later on, she changed her mind, and she was open with him, and he was okay with it. Our daughter would get more use out of the gift. My therapist said that it speaks volumes about me and my husband's marriage, that we are encouraging change in the world around us... Thanks for making this video! Take care, and God bless, everyone! @MichaelMangano-m5i Well, I guess I haven't mastered that one as of yet! I will say this, though. Most of what me and my therapist talk about is how much I rely on God to get me through. My husband has told me that prayer is a form of meditation. And, God can do His healing work through the people around us... Susan
@pointofnoreturn3103 No shame in your game. I've been practicing self reflection since I was 14. When I was 27, I was involved in a horrible car wreck and was in a month long coma. When I woke, the family told me my dad was trying to pull me off life support, and my mom had to get temporary custody over me during the coma. After that, the hospital offered me therapy, which I accepted. The therapist showed me that my father is "jealous" of me. After learning how to walk again, I became a nurse and realized pain is truly the best teacher for waking up to the cold, hard facts that most people would just rather not deal with.. now, I'm a devoted truth seeker no matter how uncomfortable it is, because it's just another level to gain.. keep pushing forward.
@MichaelMangano-m5i Thank you! ...I have an abusive past, myself, and thanks be to God, I am in the place now where I am glad that I went through these things. If you never knew the pain, you couldn't fully appreciate it when God breaks your chains, and gives you healing. I fully believe that the people who hurt the most are the most grateful for the cross! And, what is more, once I realized that I wasn't to blame for what someone else chose to do to me, God gave me the grace to forgive my abuser and pray that he might find forgiveness at the foot of the cross. He has since died, and I do genuinely hope that he is in heaven with God. ... God CAN use all things, even things as horrible as sexual abuse, to bring about His will for our lives, and in the lives of the people around us... Thanks for sharing your Testimony with me. What has happened? You sound very unhappy. ... Maybe you would benefit from learning about this. I am a sexual abuse survivor who has learned by faith that God allowed my abuse to happen because He knew that one day He would break my chains of self-hatred, and give me the Grace to let go of my resentment, and pray that the man who did this to me would find forgiveness at the foot of the cross. He has since died, and I DO genuinely hope that he is in Heaven with God. God doesn't promise that we never are going to go through trying times in our lives. But, He DOES promise that He will be right there with us as we go through these trials. I believe with my whole heart that God CAN use all things, even things as horrible as sexual abuse, to bring about healing, not only in our lives, but in the lives of the people around us.
