I dont remember which interview it was, but he was asked why Superman was in a black suit in Snyder Cut, and he rambled on for a good few minutes about anything else but that. He could've just said something like "that was the only suit left in the kyrptonian ship" or "cause it was in the comics."
I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he's just awkward in public and gets anxiety when he's pointed a microphone, and he could be great guy in person but I think the sad truth is that the man is a genuine tool when it comes to his work.
He is a hack of J.J. Abrams proportions.

He created this world from snippets of other and better Movies like a wannabe "Chef" that created a dish from leftovers which he found on the plates of other restaurant guests.
Tarantino is an example that it can be done well: his film Style is just splicing together scenes and styles from other films, but he blends it well and he's "borrowing" from more obscure films, so most folks won't see the copy.

I mean Zack is not wrong with crashing buildings there's consequences to destruction and collateral damage and stuff but seriously Superman would not have let metropolis get destroyed like that even if he is meeting his equal power level wise and someone who has military training.
Achieving that would make him Superman. The fact that Zack couldn't fathom that point is why he wasn't fit to direct such a movie.

I've never understood why Snyder has such a zealot like fan base that seem to think everything he makes is pure gold.
The man is a terrible director and writer. He has only had a couple of decent movies to his name while the rest are utter trash.
The Snyderverse was a complete waste of time.
The circus music was too loud in the mix which got very annoying very fast.
And I will say this.
I hate Snyder and I hated all his DCEU movies from the start!
But the attitude he expresses in the beginning bits did make him an ideal choice to adapt the graphic novel
“Watchmen”
His attitude towards superheroes probably does align with that of Watchmen creator Alan Moore.
Snyder’s “Watchmen” is as perfect an adaptation of a very difficult graphic novel to adapt any fan could ever have hoped for.
People who still want to attack the Watchmen movie as some kind of betrayal of the book just aren’t being genuine.
The Watchmen movie is great!

But that was only because he surrendered his ego and slavishly followed the source material in this case.
