The tang part and adding or repairing involved in getting the right parent material in adding a tang that is threaded like a bolt 🔩the bolt should be of the same as the parent material, it requires the same procedure as in making the sword as welding will take away hardness values, in manufacturing they just grab what will work or trying to be "cheap", and more than likely not to heat treat back to the same consistency as it will cost to do this properly, no different than repairing a drive shaft, etc, using a tig welder would be a preference as well being able to control the heat used in the operation as well as the selected filler material. As in most poor places, they more than likely would braze it back as that is all they know, or what is available to them in equipment. It involves getting the same Crystallization characteristics to form or flow to the parent material.

I'm wondering if you used a sewn machine as in the bobber refiller to spin the handle and do the linen wrapping that way? as I'm sure doing once by hand for the odd rebuild, is not a big deal... hours later... if your good at it and becomes an income possibly. I'm just old and the hands well don't work like they used to :) Another tool could be a BBQ rotisserie as they have a slow-turning and use an old tang with a wing nut just to secure it and feed the linen from hand onto the wooden handle. 🧵 You are doing a great job :)
