That's with the exception of the paper towels used to layout the parts. Paper comes from wood which leaves a coal-like ash when burned. Cotton on the other hand leaves an almost non-existent ash that doesn't harm internals such as bearing surfaces.
Hey I’m not sure if you read your comments but I’m building a 01 yz 125 and I’m having a problem with my transmission before I split the case to do my bottom end it shifted just fine, neutral, and through all the gears but once I was putting my transmission back 1st gear is interlocking with second gear not allowing it to go into neutral. I looked through all my parts and there is no spacer or anything to prevent them from locking if you have any tips that would be amazing

Hey AK! Diggin your videos man, thank you. I’m curious as to what the dimensions are of your 2x4 engine crate you build on. Looking to put together something similar to get my by until I can afford a legit engine stand.
Hey brotha, I’m doing a rebuild on a 2001 yz 125. But my crankshaft seized. And once I got it half way open and I was able to take the bolt holding the gear in place. It freed up. I’m still going to change the crank and bearings. But Regarding the other bearings. Do I have to change them all out? Like the shifting bearings? I had bought the crank and it literally only came with the crank pair and that’s all. I was thinking if I can just make it work like that or will it mess up the other ones once the case is completely split?
Hey, new subscriber here. Just bought a 2024 yz125 first dirtbike. Are the internals similar? I know 2022+ are the new motor. But could this help to build mine
can i tighten the primary drive and cluth nut with an impact wrench or do i need a gear jammer tool and what did you use to hold in place the clutch when you tightened the nut
I’d recommend some type of gear jammer tool. You can use pennies but I have and it doesn’t work all that well. For the clutch I used a special clutch hub holding tool.
I used a ball hone. There are tons of opinions out there about honing Nickasil plates cylinders. All I can say is do your research and see what would be best for you
@@akmoto_ appreciate the reply man! I dont have a YZ but I want one and I know ill use your videos as a guide to do all my engine work. Did you use a specific kind of ball hone? And how much time did you do the hone process for? Your cylinder looked like it came out amazing
im currently tearing down my yz125 engine to do the same. I was hoping you could point me in the direction of the engine bolt kit you bought. this video has helped me gain confidence in splitting a case myself!
There are a "swirling" sound from your engine? Like a fast spinning bearing sound. Is that the governor? I have two Yz125s. One make this sound, and the other is not. What do you think it is. Tomas.
The easiest way to do bearings is this: preheat oven to 300 degrees and put the cases in there for 20 min. Put all bearings in the freezer for a couple hours.
Clean and well arranged tools, and the parts.. makes me want to do the same delicate and clean work..

Where did you get the crank truing stand? did you build it? Good to see younger folks with skills

Yo bro keep up the sick videos, what’s the red grease you’re using so I could purchase some. The stuff I use ain’t the best 😂
That’s maxima assembly grease you can order online
Very helpful thank you very much...working on my 05 yz125
Nice job! Would love to see a video how you rebuilt the crank!

Excellent work ! How much would you charge me to build me an yz 125 motor
o correto seria esquentar a carcaça e não bater os rolamentos e usar prensa, maioria dos mecânicos usam maçarico na carcaça...

Do it right or two it twice. Get all new bearings, seals, gaskets, etc. don’t monkey around with building a motor
I’ve gotta say I over 40 years of building engines I’ve never seen piston-cylinder clearance measured with a feeler gauge.
So is it good or bad?

Very similar, pretty much everything will be the same in terms of components, just with slight variations to dimensions of certain parts
@@akmoto_ thank you

Awesome & practical video, but maintain your nails bro😂! Keep doing this valuable content for bikers community!!
if you put grease in the gasket ...you going to have a leaking soonner and the grase deteriorates the gasket and its more suitable for slip and move
ASSEMBLED THE SHOP PRESS YESTERDAY, slowly but surely. We will be ripping again. Thanks AK. Thank you thank you thank you
I wish I came back to this video and didn’t use my press for that middle transmission bearing on the left Case half.
On the Kick starter gear, is there a way to re-spring this as when I install mine the gear goes back past the counter gear and I know this isnt right
Thanks for the shoutout Anthony! Great job on that build. It looks and sounds amazing. Such a satisfying video. 💨💨🤙😎
AK. why didn’t you tell us not to use the press for that middle tranny bearing at 3:15 man regret regret regret
Dream bike
Great job on the bike and video! Love your content and always look forward to an upload. Can’t wait to hear this thing sing!
Can you use the athena cylinder only with the stock yz 125 top head
Best video especially for a barn find bike like mine lol😂
this man wears a white shirt to work on an engine he shure knows what he is doing XD

What was your process to hone the cylinder? I thought you dont hone naskil plating?

The bolt kit I bought is from Bolt Motorcycle Hardware. If you go to their site they have them there. Thanks for watching!
@@akmoto_ did it include the long case bolts that replace the allen bolts?

It’s the knooter valve next to swizzle stick
We’re you ever able to figure it out?
@@donalddonaldson7211 No, but it has stayed the same for a very long time now. I guess it can be that it has a litlle bigger flywheel.
Whats your compression ratio then
Kickstart assembly please
Why are you only using gasket maker in between the 2 case halfs?
They aren’t designed to use a paper gasket. Some engines only use silicone
Hey where can I buy this rebuild kit from?
I purchased all the parts individually, mostly from RMATVMC
Thank you
Nice work

Bacon cases
I wish I did this. I got a press and pressed them all in but at the bearing shown at 3:15 I used my press and broke my case half on that last bearing.
You could just warm up the crank case....
