    Hey Bob and Jeff, thanks for recommending these skis. I bought last spring. But used them first time last week. They are amazing. Gave me lot more confidence while shifting from edge to edge.very stable.

    Thank you for yet another great review!
    I bought the Stance 90s in February after a long search for a more frontside oriented ski to complement my QST106s, and the Stance 90s just hit the spot. Hard - even slightly icy - groomers, soft or mixed-up snow, crud, chop, mushy spring snow, ... they just work and are fun to ski :-).
    I definately agree on the sizing-up comment. I’m 178cm and the 182cm is the right length for me. My speed limit comes before the ski’s limits, with no stability or confidence issues at speed. Even at a bit longer length they are still easy and fun to ski at slower speeds. The skis don’t feel as long as they are and are pretty quick edge-to-edge for a 90mm waist.
    Echoing another comment in the review and amongst these comments, they are very intuitive from the start, having that great Salomon feel.

      Thanks for sharing your feedback and experience! I hope others can learn from the recommendation to size up if you feel like you're in between sizes, I think that's a key to getting the right performance out of the Stance 90.

    nice skiiing jeff! looks like it likes the "hero" snow with some grip and softness to it

    • @SkiEssentials

      Definitely did, although I would've preferred the 182 in that soft stuff. I had to be somewhat delicate on the 176 or I would've gone over the handlebars!

    Great video. I have just bought the 2023 Stance 90 off you guys recommendation at a heavily discounted price compared to the enforcers and the kendos. So glad I watched this video first. At 183cm, 86kg, strong intermediatie skier. I feel if I am a size down from Bob and around where Jeff wants to be. I can't go to far wrong. Thank you for all your hard work guys from the UK

    Excellent review, as usual, Jeff. Any comparison between this and the Declivity 92?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +1

      In my opinion, the Declivity is a little further along that spectrum towards playfulness/maneuverability. The Declivity is still a relatively strong ski, but it feels lighter on your feet and a little more energetic to me, while giving up some raw power/stability.

    cool ski! so... maybe closer in feel to a Declivity 92 than a Brahma or Enforcer 88? touch more forgiving/easier initiations? very cool how we've got such a wide range of feels now in the "metal + sidewalls" category.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад

      Yeah, I think closer to the Declivity than the Brahma/Enforcer in terms of overall playfulness and forgiveness. Still rips, though... I agree, it's awesome that manufacturers are really differentiating their skis in this category now. There was a time when everything all kind of felt the same, but certainly not anymore.

    Love these video reviews Jeff and Bob. So much so that I bought a Kendo from you this past year. I was only able to ski some cruddy late spring conditions so wasn’t able to really grasp what the ski’s potential is. I was afraid that the ski would be too much ski for me (non-expert) so at 5-7, 155, so I went for the 163. In my limited time on it, it's performance wasn't beyond my skill level at all in those conditions. What in your opinion would be a good complimentary ski for a NE skier who typically skis groomers but wouldn’t mind expanding horizons into some off-piste and other more technical terrain?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +1

      I'd go a little wider than the Kendo and something with more rocker and and lighter feel. Stance 90 is too close to your Kendo, but something like the QST 98 could work really well. You could also stick with Volkl and complement it with a Blaze 94. Much lighter, longer rocker, great in technical terrain. Lots of good options in that category. Elan Ripstick 96 and Liberty Origin 96 also come to mind.

    • @richardmutt
      @richardmutt 3 года назад +1

      @@SkiEssentials I know you really can't know unless you give the ski a test ride, but what length do you think would appropriate? - 165 or 172? FWIW, I didn't find the Kendo 163 too difficult to turn quickly

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +1

      @@richardmutt Somewhat of a tossup, but in the Blaze, I think 172 would be best, and in the QST 98 I think 169 would work well. For the complementing ski, assuming it's going to have more rocker than your Kendo, I would shoot for right around 170.

    Thanks for another fantastic review Jeff & Bob. As an intermediate skier , I purchased Volkl kenjo 84 after watching your reviews early in the season and it improved my skiing significantly. As a front side on piste mountain skier in the east coast , what would you recommend now that I am ready to upgrade from kenjo 84. I like how snappy n playful and forgiving it is, but as I learn to go faster, it is not as aggressive . I am not an aggressive skier but I am becoming an advanced skier . Thanks in advance for some suggestions. I don’t think enforcer 88 is my style, I need more forgiving ones.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +1

      Stance 90, Kendo 88, Fischer RC One 86 GT... those would all be really good skis to consider. Kendo is probably the "safest" as you know you already like how a Volkl skis (there are some similarities between the Kanjo and Kendo for sure). Stance 90 is very similar to the Kendo, but a little more versatile for different terrain and snow conditions. Fischer RC One GT is a great ski that you don't see as often as the other two. Very stable and powerful, but there's some versatility to it as well. Start there and let me know what you think! Those skis aren't tremendously more forgiving than an Enforcer, and arguably aren't more forgiving at all, but based on what you're saying, I don't expect you'd have any trouble on them.

      @@SkiEssentials Thank for the reply . I have read your reviews on Elan Ripstick 88 and seriously considering it after discussing with Mike at your warehouse . Is Ripstick 88 too close to Kanjo 84 ? Or it is a fun version of Kendo 88? I don’t charge the mountain the way Bob and Jeff test skis but I want more vibration damping than kanjo 84. Stance 90 doesn’t make my size , I would’ve gotten it. Thanks 🙏🏼

    I recently demoed these skis while looking for a complement to my QSTs, and I ended up with a Brahma because of the stability at speed.
    What I didn’t know at the time, which you all rightly pointed out, is that the length can fix this ! I didn’t realize that and skied 177cm in both Stance and QST, and I probably did the Stance 90 a disservice. :(
    All that said , I found the Stance as intuitive and easy to ski as the QST. No learning curve (like a Kendo) and no changes to how I ski (like a Brahma). It just did what I wanted which is great.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +1

      Yeah! I think the intuitive feel is one of the best parts about the Stance. I agree, much less of a learning curve or adjustments to your technique than Brahma/Kendo.

  • @kleinkurti
    @kleinkurti 2 года назад +1

    Really nice. Can you tell me how it compare to the 19/20 Brahma 88?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +1

      The Stance feels like it has a little more freeride influence in its design. More rocker and more taper, so smears turns more easily than the Brahma, both 2020 and the newest version. I think it's fair to say the Brahma is more precise and slightly more powerful, although that's a pretty close comparison. The biggest difference that I feel is the edge release, it's a little easier to release the tail of the Stance and get it to skid or pivot.

      Stowe/Mansfield is a really cool mountain. Ski along the ridge and you get rolling, smooth groomers. Take a turn skier's left and you get a steep, consistent, 2,000 vertical foot slope. And that's just skiing off the Forerunner Quad. The Gondola has its own merits, mostly the access to backcountry terrain in Smuggler's Notch.

    Not that this really has anything to do with these skis but I’m really debating on getting the rossignol black ops ti. What are your thoughts on these skis?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +1

      Sender Ti is a great ski! Good blend of stability at speed with soft snow performance and some float too. I often compare it to the Enforcer 100 as it has a very similar shape and a similar feel, but you get about 6 more mm in width, so a little more geared towards soft snow conditions.

    6' 170lb intermediate to advanced skier - east coast. I'm caught between the 176 and 182 sizes. 180+ isnt something I've skied before, should I have any hesitation stepping up to that size?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад

      Hey Garret! Sorry for the delay getting back to you. If I were you, I'd go 182. I'm about 5'10 and hover around 150-160. I skied the 176 cm in our testing and I liked it, but if anything, it felt a touch short. I imagine that if I were 2 inches taller and a little bit heavier, it would feel noticeably short, and 182 would be the way to go.

  • @rockyshoresstudios4987
    @rockyshoresstudios4987 3 года назад +1

    Hey Jeff how tall are you? I’m 5’11” 165lbs, always ski the 180+ but thinking of getting these in the 170+

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад

      Very similar, just over 5'10, about 160 lbs right now (I think...). I would get the 182 cm for myself, personally. I enjoyed skiing the 176, but I don't think I'd struggle at all on the 182 and it would just be a touch more stable in choppy snow. That's the only place I felt the 176 got a little nervous, high speeds in choppy snow.

    Hey, i cant decide between Stance 84 or Stance 90.
    Im 186cm / 80kg like to fairly go fast on groomers and would like to improve my form and carving before i get into deep snow. Id say im about strong intermediate and what length should i get?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Год назад

      I'd go with the 90 in he 182. Lots of fun to be had here and a higher-performance ceiling. The 84 is great, but if you're going really fast and want something a bit wider for deeper snow, I'd go with the 90. Have fun!

    I am 5'9'' (175cm) 163 lbs (74 kg), intermediate to advanced skier developing my carving skills, should I go with 168 or 176? Also how does this compare with Kendo 88?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      I would go 176 cm I think. That should be relatively easy for you to handle, and will be more stable at speed and in general more supportive. It's a very similar ski to the Kendo, but slightly more forgiving and easier in soft snow due to increased rocker and taper.

    Stance 90 vs rustler 9s?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +1

      Rustler 9 is lighter, mostly in terms of swing weight, and a little more playful and maneuverable due to the rocker profile. It doesn't have quite the stability, power, or vibration damping as the Stance 90, however. Stance is basically right in between the Brahma 88 and Rustler 9 in overall performance.

      There's way too much to like about the QST 92, and that's not an insult to the Stance, but a big time compliment to the Salomon. I'd get the QST in the 184. Have fun!
