- Oh, Canada! In this special first international video on the channel, we travel to Canada to see a wide variety of trains I filmed in the year 2023. Our focus will be on the Vancouver, BC and Toronto, ON metro areas with a few scenes from Eastern Ontario and the Kettle Valley Steam Railway as well. Included are a variety of different freight and passenger trains such as Via Rail, Canada's long distance and intercity passenger railroad, GO Transit, West Coast Express, and some Amtrak international services.

Great job, Mike! I’m impressed you finally got to film in Canada. I’ve really wanted to see all the passenger trains and many different transit agencies in Canada for a long time and still need to today. GO, VIA and EXO are for sure what I want to see.
Many thanks! If you get the chance, it's definitely worth the visit! GO is an incredibly complex and endlessly interesting operation to watch. It's fun to just stand on one of the bridges west of Toronto Union and watch the trains arrive and depart all day. You may even see an F59 if you're lucky! EXO is at the top of the list for next time (once I brush up on my French!)
Wait are you Canadian or american
😊😊2ul
As a Canadian railfan this video makes me smile. It’s great to see such high quality videos of trains I’m so familiar with. Awesome Canadian compilation eh!
Haha, many thanks! Really appreciate it and glad to hear you enjoyed the video.
I loved it although I am not from Canada
Nice to see an International train video! 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Many thanks!
Dang! That’s a lot of trains in Canada, including CP steam locomotive 3716! Canada even has some of the greatest scenery ever. I know CP 2816 will be making a continental tour down from Canada via US to Mexico and back to Canada, next year. Imagine a spectacular event like that coming in the future.
Yes! That might make for a great new video (or videos) next year!
Loved it!
My 2 year old son recently discovered trains and loves them. He doesn't know many words yet, but I put this video on for him and he just sat quietly staring at it in awe the whole time, and every now and then would point at the screen and say "train!"
You know it's a good day when Cf2105 uploads
Facs
So true!
Yes
It's even better when you're railfanning cuz you can go home and watch trains after a day of watching trains
Every Friday! Thanks for stopping by!
Canada Finally, My Country!
Same!

At long last! Thanks for watching!
Where I live the pedophile car dealership owners and the Alberta oil sands refiners conspired to remove our trains (Nova Scotia) and lobbied for a political clause that lowers gas prices. It's a circus. Imagine if I could just ride a train out of this human experiment gulag island! 🤫
I live in Canada too
3:54 holy craboly that was a long train
That's the Canadian!
@@CoasterFan2105 yes!!! Unfortunately these poor Budd cars will be phased out over the next few years. 70+ years old and still going strong!!
Fantastic compilation video from all the cool trains and scenery north of the border. We enjoyed watching and have a wonderul rest of your Friday.(Steve)
Many thanks, Steve!
@@CoasterFan2105 you're welcome!
Very well done there!!! I’m glad you were able to find the Amtrak trains in Canada!
Thanks so much! I saw a couple of them!
17:04 If you’re unsure what this type of horn is, that’s a K5CA, A Canadian tuned variant of the K5LA. Canada has a pretty strict law where railroads have to use this type of horn and nothing else. It also has a emergency variant which is much louder
it only applies to passenger equipment since the horn is mostly on go transit and via rail equipment
@@railfangarrett6313 fr
Yup! I heard a bunch of those in Canada.
Nice variety of trains , hope to see more from Canada 😊
Definitely more on the way! Thanks for watching!
Excellent catching all numerous rail companies in Canada, Mike Armstrong, thank you.
South Simcoe Railway were shots in Shining Time Station Family Specials!
16:48 that section of tracks look similar to one of the scenes on Mighty Machines. Remember that old episode at the train yard?
Memories.
That's what am I talking about thank you so much 💕💕💕
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

Interesting videos. I haven’t seen Canada this before. ❤️
Thanks for watching!
Nice to see you in Canada! Great video!
Many thanks!
Welcome to Canada Mr. Armstrong
Thanks so much!
I’m so impressed by your first international trip.
I see that you filmed the train going by with the CN tower in the distance in Toronto.
That is right next to the Rogers Center, where the blue jays play.
Yes, I did! I spent a full morning filming trains there. It's a great spot to see GO and VIA passing by.
Excellent video! Nice to see you went out for some West Coast Express trains as that’s one of the more lesser known North American commuter services and I’m glad it was featured!
Many thanks! I'm slowly working on a full WCE video. It'll take a while because it's just 5 trains a day in each direction and it's difficult to get up there for the morning inbound trains because of how early they run. Hopefully, I'll have a full video out some time next year.
I absolutely love this video!! This is spectacular! Well done Mike!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it.
4:02 oh my god... You caught our newest unit yet... WCE 907. I think I remember hearing that 907 was formally Metrolink 18533, which was also formerlly GO transit 533, before being upgraded by progress rail. What a beautiful catch dude!!!
Welcome to Canada!
yeah me too
6:31 A familiar face in unfamiliar territory!
A P42 is always a welcome sight!
Cool video of these Canada trains. It’s almost time for me to go towards Disneyland to see the trains there. I am going there on September 16th to 18th where I will see their trolley (Possibly), Disneyland Monorail, and the Disneyland Railroad.
They have Disneyland in Canada?
@@jackchen7003 No. I mean I’m going to Disneyland in Anaheim, California along with seeing those trains there.
Thanks! Hope you had fun!
those are some super shiny new GO transit bi-level cars there - thanks for the vid sir
All the passenger trains I saw in Canada looked great! Clean equipment, nice paint jobs. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for visiting my home country!
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
00:2 his old sound is back
Mike Armstrong The VIA P42s 903 and 908 are stilling have a good sounding K5LA horns!
Yes! I actually heard 908. I didn't know it was coming, so it was in the distance. I may try to incorporate it into one of my VIA videos coming next year.
Okay but in the next year make a video called VIA Rail K5LA Horn Compilation Understand?
Canada is where i wanna visit someday. I may try to go there at the end of June next year.
It's a pretty neat place!
The west coast express! Finally!
There may be more WCE in the not too distant future!
Yay thats me🇨🇦
Yep Canada
Thank you. I am an American who has always enjoyed traveling in Canada. In my visits to all ten provinces. I have been from Prince Rupert, British Columbia to Channel-Port aux-Basques, Newfoundland.
Mike, you did a fantastic job of filming the first trains in Canada.
@CoasterCabCar I really think that is Mike Armstrong.
Thanks so much! Really appreciate it.
That's me! @CoasterCabCar
4:03 RIB RBRX 18533’s old paint :(
:(
But, the new paint job does look fantastic!
Hi Mike, I have been a fan of your video’s since your first « Steam Trains Galore » video. Your latest video, taken in Canada, is a treat for me, as I am Canadian, and your video of the Waterloo Central was basically filmed in my neighbourhood. I really enjoyed this video and look forward to your next video, where ever it takes place.
Thanks so much! I'm thrilled to hear it. Waterloo Central looks like a really neat place. I was only there briefly, but I'd like to revisit it next time I'm in the area. I have several more Canada videos coming in the not too distant future.
Trucking 🚚 🛻
Sobbing 😭
Nice catches of the 🇨🇦 trains
Thanks!
Fabulous!!!
Thank you!
12:48 A 10 car West Coast Express train? That's so odd.
The third WCE train has been running frequently with the MP36 and 10 cars. I've seen it the last few times I've been up to film WCE.
Nice shots.
Thank you! You have some really neat passenger trains!
I hope you can catch the rocky mountaineer
I have just one cell phone video of them this year, but hopefully more next year!
Thanks for showing cpkc trains and Amtrak in Canada greetings from Vancouver Bc
21K Views Wow Very Cool
I was hooked on this video and couldn’t tear myself away until the end!
Awesome! Really glad you enjoyed it!
Nice!

Wow Canada looks amazing!!! Your passenger trains are longer than ours across the border. So jealous😞
We’ve all been waiting, well done Mike!

Nice!
Hey Mike I like those canaidian trains that you filmed thier where amazing🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😮😮😮😮😮
As a Canadian I respect this 🇨🇦🚂
Please do come to the UK one day. Our trains are tiny compared to yours!
UK is at the top of the list for overseas travel. I've always wanted to see the birthplace of railways!
Great job!

Many thanks! Greetings!

A train video outside the us, interesting
Indeed! Thanks for watching!
You post a video about Canada train when my aunt comes down from Canada to visit LOL

Welcome to Canada, my side of the border.
Pity the ONR Northlander wasn't still running into Toronto while you were there.
Thank you! I wanted to get ONR, but I was short on time unfortunately. That, EXO, and the Siemens VIA sets are at the top of my list for the next visit to Eastern Canada!
@@CoasterFan2105next time you are back, let me know, we'll go to Cochrane ON for ONR passenger rail action and railfan here in Sudbury ON for some VIA Budd RDC action.
😳 Mike Armstrong is filming trains in my country
Thanks for stopping by!
My favorite train I saw was the Amtrak P42 desel
❤❤❤❤ very nice ❤
Thank you!
Was not expecting a steam locomotive
Hopefully more of them soon!
@@CoasterFan2105 I just didnt know we had engines like that
There are a few steam operations across the country, although fewer than there used to be. I think there are at least 4 in BC, another couple in AB, one in MB, 3 or 4 in ON, and maybe one or two in QB. I came up with a list of most of them this summer, I'll have to get it out again. @@funtechxtream8753
Nice catches
Thank you!
10:40 Did I see an Amtrak train in Vancouver BC?
That's the Cascades, Amtrak recently brought cross-border services back
Yup! Twice a day in each direction!
Nice train filming, just like USA.
But at 2:12 that dang long Canadian train got those US autoracks
That first clip is London! I Railfan and live there!
PLEASE GO TO THE DURANGO AND SILVERTON THIS YEAR!!!
I would like to, but not sure I will be able to return this year. Hopefully soon.

Welcome to Canada
You were right, I did like this one 😂
Excellent! Happy to hear it.
Reply my comment please
It's always cool to see how long Canadian passenger trains can get, with some GO Transit locomotives hauling 12 cars (that Motive Power loco is very powerful to do that alone), and some West Coast Express trains being 8-10 cars long. Not sure if this is because of long headways, or that Canada generally has better public transit (thus less automobile usage) than most of the US
That's actually something I don't know the exact answer to beyond guesswork. There are a few GO and WCE trains that are shorter in length, closer to what you'd see in the US. But the vast majority are 8-12 cars, which is something you don't see all that often here, except for a handful of operations like the Metra BNSF line in Chicago.
Can you make trains in mexico?
It's a possibility! Mexico is one of the countries I'm looking at for international travel next.
It will be nicer if they put a Big Modern Steam Locomotive in Canada.
Yo, he finally did it! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇨🇦🇨🇦
At last!!
Nice finally something in Canada
Finally! Thanks for watching! Hope it was worth the wait!
The Go trains with 12 cars are they urban or long distance trains?
I enjoyed this video 100% and was great to see some very long passenger trains
Those are commuter rail trains serving the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The 12-car trains typically service the GO Lakeshore East and Lakeshore West lines.
Urban / Commuter
Many thanks! As was previously said, they are urban/suburban commuter trains. The 12 car ones are used most often on the two lines that run along Lake Ontario.
I find it very interesting how similar another country's railway is to America's.
Even if said country is right above the U.S.
@CoasterFan2105 I know of some Canadian actors and actresses who live there
Very cool!
The via rail P42's have a very different sounding horn than amtraks
Nice train video love Canada from Pakistan 🇵🇰🤝🇨🇦
Wow, you sure jumped back and forth across the country. ... Nice to see the Amtrak / VIA Maple Leaf and the Cascades. But, you missed The Portage Flyer 😊. I can help you there. July and August we run #2, a 1926, 0-4-0 Tank Steam engine. We need to fund raise to have its sister #1, a new boiler and full certification . Nice to see trains I recognize and have ridden on. This winters trip is on the Southwest Chief.
Before I went to Canada this summer, I compiled a list of all the steam railways I could find but somehow, I missed that one! I'll have to add it to the list for next time! Thanks so much!
golly wiz nice video mike keep up the good work
