just an update, firstly job done thx too you. went too my local truma outlet for the bits he informed me that the pipe that goes through the body and out the van was an inlet to allow air into the system when the boiler is drained, makes sense I suppose. Anyway thx again for the vlog on this subject without it I could have been a few quid out of pocket.
Well done. It's nice it was just a valve. We cracked our water heater and had to replace the entire thing. $700 later we have wonderful hot water.. and no leaks. Nicely done.
@@HermanHitstheRoad By being lazy and not draining it properly before a severe winter storm that dropped the temperatures way below freezing... lesson learned.. an expensive lesson, but learned non the less. Thank you for your great videos, we really enjoy them.
Doesn't your boiler have an anti frost valve on them so when it gets cold outside the valve opens dumping the contents of the boiler and therefore no frozen boiler?
Nice one Ads. I'm 67 and have never heard of Occam's razor which you used in answer to a comment. After a quick Google I now know about it so thanks for improving my knowledge. 🤣👍🪒🪒
Extremely helpful video as ours has just gone in our Bailey Pegasus... part ordered and will be fitted next weekend... many thanks for taking time out to show the fix... subbed too now.. take care , travel safe.. Ian
great one and very helpful mate. Can you please indicate us the Antifreeze valve (system) part numbers? as i presumt this boiler won;'t come with it and needs to be ordered separately. I am planning to get this exact one. KUDOS
I had this exact same issue this weekend. Boiler leaking and lacking water pressure in taps. Did the same fix. All sorted. To me it's a pressure relief valve not a let air in valve.
Thanks for another great video ....my problem is the orange/ amber light stays on .....doesn't effect the blow air heating I have 1998 B584 Hymer same unit I think.
John, do you mean the light that goes off when the water is at either 40 or 60 degrees? We have 2 lights. The red fault one and a yellow/green which turns off when the water is at the right temperature. Does your boiler over heat the water? Or does it turn off?
Thanks. I’m having issues with the earlier red hot water fitting elbow to John Guest. The threads split and a replacement I got also split. I now have the white fitting - presumably a better moulding - more heat resistant- hopefully. I was hoping you’d touch on how tight to do up this fitting. By the way I don’t think you’re correct in calling it a pressure relief valve. It’s function I believe is to allow air to come back in to facilitate the wAter draining out ( air going into the top to allow the water to drain out when lifting the two way valve. ) this would be for fitting a new element or winterising etc. When the boiler is full and under normal pump pressure the air inlet valve with the clear plastic tubing of course is closed. When water is trying to drain out, air has to get in or a suction situation exists. There is another outlet at the bottom of the external cowl vent area which allows condensate etc to drain away. That’s visible outside the RV in the bottom corner of the cowl vent. Anyhow thanks I think for your video. I ended up with success by fitting the compression nut, then the split sleeve or collar then the O ring right onto and OVER the raised knuckle, THEN push and hold the plastic elbow onto that outlet pipe whilst doing up the nut. I did the same as you - fitted a new outlet elbow, turned the pump on and it leaked, like yours did. It’s a stupid fitting. I think part of the prob is that knuckle near the end of the stainless pipe taking hot water out. The collar/ sleeve surely doesn’t fit up over the knuckle. Anyway, cheers .
Hi I have a very similar problem with the same however mine is gushing out, does the eBay store cover most or all truma spares. Thanks for posting this vlog helped me no end
@@HermanHitstheRoad It is yes but it's not a trickle it's coming out as fast as I can fill it. I will go and check for serial numbers, it is 20yrs old and in German but I do have the paperwork for it. Thx again for the vlog could of cost a few quid but now I can do it on my own.

you do really need to find out why the prv failed, its a sealed system and this is one of the safety devices , if it happens again please check the boiler . great vids as always
Of course, Dave if it keeps occurring then there could be a problem with the boiler rather than the valve. Always consider Occam's Razor before fixing anything. 👍👍
my boiler is not dissimilar to yours other than the my pipework is as you look on the left. The writing on mine is in German could you tell me where you found the serial number or whatever you used to order your replacement.
This is a good question, Mark because I did find it difficult to choose the correct one. In the end I chose the value which looked similar to the old one. One our boiler there is a large yellow sticker which contains the model and serial number. I hope that helps

A word of advice - these Truma air ducts are extremely low quality. You soak them in water they start falling apart from the heat afterwards. Change to Webasto air ducts, much better quality.
I think the valve is a 'breather' valve that is used to let air into the system when you drain it down rather than release pressure. Seems to be a common misconception but maybe I'm wrong. The older boilers don't have a replacement part so using the same part that you did I had to bodge a few plumbing items together to make it work: facebook.com/groups/classichymers/permalink/3933913523288105
