  • Mushrooms have captured humanity's attention for thousands of years. But they still confuse us. Mushrooms spring up overnight, many of them are dangerous if you confuse them for their safer cousins, and they have an array of fantastical names. Witness the Destroying Angel, Spit Devil, Satan's Bolete, Witches' Butter, and Death Cap.
Let's learn more about the folklore of fungi in this week's episode of Fabulous Folklore.

I loved that. In my garden, I get two main types: Death Caps ☠ which I avoid and Ink Caps which are delicious. 😋

Wouldn't folklore be a pretty good way to tell people to stay away from something?
Also, small correction, Hexenpilz is written with a z

Not always. It's surprising because you would think it would be, but you get it with some varieties of poisonous plant too - often people didn't waste time coming up with lore when they could say "don't go near it". And apologies about the captions, I edit them after they're generated and I try to catch all the errors but sometimes one still slips through!

@@FabulousFolklore that's interesting. But yeah, I guess to say that eating this thing could kill you (even if that is exaggerated) is enough most of the time.
