Hey Mark - this is easily the single most useful singing video I've ever found, full stop. Matching pipe to pitch as an exercise/metaphor for placement/range/resonance is incredibly helpful. Thank you thank you thank you!!! All your videos are fantastic, but for me this one has made a big difference!
Good! Trying to get my singing voice back again. Don't know if ascending into falsetto is acceptable or not but your videos are a tremendous help. Graziemille!
Hey Mark, I have to admit you ARE the easiest guy to follow and UNDERSTAND on the Internet. Thank you for your excellent guidance and advice. I am getting ready to get BACK into getting my voice in shape...been doing the body first. Where are you based out of?? Rock On Bud!!! Thank YOU!
i adore your videos Mark, they are helping me a bunch understanding my voice. also i really appreciate your humor and personality, they enhance our warm ups!
Dankjewel Mark, ik ben erg blij met je video's! Just kiddin', ha ha, it means I'm very happy with your videos, in Dutch :) Started singing lessons at 57, there are some unidentified obstacles on my vocal chords which will prevent me from becoming famous, but with these videos it's a pleasure to just give it a try and enjoy singing!
Hey Fini - I can identify those obstacles preventing you from singing fame - too many birthdays! :). No worries mate - now you're singing for all the right reasons!
Ok, now I’m cracking up! I had to stop practicing & stop the video bc my mind went so off track while reading abt the toilet paper shortage, then there was text about breath flow … I’m lol! Nothing better than a good fart joke … well maybe there is … I live a sheltered life 😂😀🤣
another great lesson! Could you please provide more information regarding the pipe and pitch matching? what are we conceptualizing with the TP illustration?
Conceptualize a church organ - each note has it own pipe (unique diameter and length). That's exactly what our vocal tract can do . . . if we let it. Don't get stuck singing with ONE pipe!
I just joined Sindaptive and am really hoping I get paired off with you as my coach! You are the reason I joined. I have been through every single YT channel, every course, tried a few different instructors but your technique and your style of teaching is what clicks with me! I just need something more personalized than YT videos at this time.
Thanks Mark. This was great. For me, the visual elements really drive it home. I might have stormed your house with a pitchfork in April 2020 and run off with your TP stash, but that would have set voice-theory back a decade!
Totally tubular, dude! No more sh**ty singing with these rolls of TP to illustrate how it's done. :) YOU are funny...and extremely instructive. Thank you! You got me to press your subscribe button, which is a rare occurrence indeed, although I have watched several of your videos now and appreciate them all, so my decision was based on more than TP shortages...
Chalked up another great video to practice to soothe the voice with. This along with my favorite Good Morning Voice video will be the staples of my voice lessons. Had it bookmarked Mark. Thank you Mr. Baxter.
Array Ustad, Guru Jee, Master, Teacher, Sir, amazing man just amazing........ I mean amazing man just amazing. Whenever I get stuck my soul drives myself here and finds it's way ahead. I think that's the missing gear of the UFO's engine taking me to My home planet. Thanks 🙏🙏🙏👍
Great video! Quick question---you made some videos about vocalizing to reduce swelling. I was curious----if I have hoarseness that *improves* and eventually goes away by vocalising, could it be possible that I might have nodes? Or is it most likely something like acid reflux (I know I have acid reflux)?
Hello, I had a quick question. When exhaling should i tighten my core (not fully pull in) for air to flow or should my core tighten because air is flowing out
You don't have to do anything consciously. Your body is not stupid. if the sound you're asking for requires more air pressure you'll create it. If it doesn't, you won't. Just like you don't instruct your legs how to walk faster when your late - your breathing will respond to your circumstance - if you stop thinking about it.
This is an amazingly effective hearing test for my cats, as they suddenly appeared just a few seconds after starting to sing along, so they're totally not deaf~ Oh, it turns out that when singing with my fullest resonant voice, that my Tympanic Tensor does its thing, and that's the sound I was hearing that I thought was hearing hairs moving around. Oh, you mentioned using sound to loosen mucus, yeah that's an amazingly effective and helpful tip to loosen mucus~
I want to ask coach. Is it possible for one to completely smooth the break without the feeling that there is something their.....I have been working my voice for a year and half now. I have improved so well but I keep wondering when the break will finally disappear without me feeling a kind of little flip within my opper and lower...
It's simple - if your voice is fighting you it's because your forcing the sound into a disagreeable pipe. Change either the tone or volume of your voice to find agreement. Then start moving back to the sound you want.
Sir, My doctor took hand wrist radiography and he said that my growth is completed as my bones are fused together and I won’t grow in height, he said my adolescence will end within one year . Sir, will my vocal range remains constant? Sir, will my voice sounding changes ?
Awesome explaination, thank you Mark! I do still have in mind your video about the comparism with the guitar strings (ruclips.net/video/pnAjs1CT2ys/видео.html). Is this from the practical approach a kind of another way to look at it or something completely different - looking at the resonators, not the vocal folds? Thanks!
@@voicelessondotcom This visual resource provided me a wonderful means of internalizing how notes reverberate differently within our bodies’ various “resonator”s. I understand, from your May Mee Mah Moh Moo video, that there are multiple resonators in our bodies. Is this correct? If there are multiple, what are they? The nasal cavity, the larynx, the mouth maybe? Just curious if you have this info off the noggin
@@bilbodabbins8273 Yes - the various resonators are the windpipe, pharynx, oral and nasal cavities. All together they make up the vocal tract. The pharynx and oral cavities are highly adjustable regarding their diameter, length and shape. Each sound we make requires a custom resonator. The TP rolls simply indicate the change in the overall resonating space. Big sound = big space, etc. Hope that helps!
Well according to the comment section everyone gets this immediately. Ok I'll be the dummy in the room. Are the toilet paper cones supposed to represent the length of your vocal tract? shape of your mouth? adusting your soft palate?
All the above! Simply the volume of internal space needs to change per every sound we make. That's why pipe organs have a huge array of resonators. Every key on the instrument needs its own pipe!

Not only is ascending into falsetto acceptable - it is very beneficial therapeutically when getting the voice back into action. Don't avoid it!
More sage advice, delivered with clarity and humour. Wonderful! Thanks, Mark.

The effect of vocal nodules doesn't immediately go away by vocalizing. So I suspect you are swollen.
What instrument is this? Is this electronic n what ll be its cost thanks again great lesson

You can't separate the vibrators from the resonators in any acoustic instrument. They both affect each other. So both perspectives matter!
