A lot of YES fans wouldn't agree but that is my favorite song on the Fragile album. Got to see the 35th Anniversary tour in Loveland, CO. YES, the greatest band ever!🤩

The whole band are genius musicians, but I feel like mentioning Steve. He is simply the best all round rock guitarist IMO. I'm not a guitarist but I know there are people who can play a little faster or a little more complex stuff, but where Steve really stands out is his masterful compositions, he is so unique and so creative, master of so many styles and instruments, and can do heavy jams just as well as mellow, beautiful stuff.

You're seeing an example of why YES were such a legendary band. First of all to have the talent and musical chops to write and play this incredible stuff to begin with, and second to actually improve and expand on it live. They were one of those bands where the live versions were always improvements over their studio counterparts, with a few exceptions. "The Gates of Delirium" from _Yesshows_ is the definitive version of that track, even over the original _Relayer_ version. I'm glad you enjoyed both of these, Brandon. I always enjoy seeing young people appreciating this masterful band.
I love the pristine nature of the studio version, as with all Yes studio versions, each note their by design, and just as much a joy to see them live improvising, and elevating the song further.
If you haven't listened to the Yessongs Album versions you must hear them. Many tracks like "Yours Is No Disgrace", "Starship Trooper", Siberian Khatru", and "Perpetual Change" are
EPIC on the triple live album. I saw them in '77, and it was the most immersive concert I have ever witnessed.

@@retroreactions.... I don't see where you have listened to the Yessongs Album version of those two songs, but TRUST me you will definitely want to even if you listen off camera. The Yessongs album versions, especially of YIND, and Starship Trooper are EPIC. The guitar solo in the middle of one, and the keyboard solo at the end of the other are so good. On Perpetual Change it has an extended guitar part in the middle, and a Bill Bruford drum solo at the end.
Ah I see now...Yessongs is the live album. And an early live album I see. Even has some Six Wives material! Thanks for the info..
...as a Yes fan I of course knew the studio version, but the live one was new to me - such a show-off of their skills at the instruments, played (and sung) with so much passion, and the extensive variations were such an adorable treat... what amazes me again and again is how good they are live... the whole 'Yessongs' triple album is full of it... thanks again, Brandon, for taking us on a journey into the glorious past of prog, and thank you YES - don't really know how to put it best in words, but you bring so much JOY to me 😇

I just love those vocal harmonies of "eee-yah" repeatedly rising at the end. I saw this finale YES concert tour with Jon Anderson & Chris Squire (RIP) together in 2004.. The end of an epic livelong magical sonic journey! Can't believe it was 20 years ago! The stage was the return of another YES album cover artist Roger Dean creation using painted inflated organic shaped forms which were lit throughout in various colors
Without question, “ Southside “ is one of their strongest deep cuts. I could never get enough of that mystique, legendary piano solo by Wakeman, at the halfway point. And the classic voice by John and backing vocals are Yes at their absolute best. This song has everything one needs to capture the true essence of what this great song is about. But it’s really cool that you followed it up with a live version. I’d never heard that before. It was quite the experience !

I saw this show two weeks earlier in Atlanta this show was amazing, I’ve seen YES many times & many other bands throughout my 65 years & this particular show was the best concert I’ve heard, seen & experienced!!!
OMG!!! Another masterpiece. YES: never exceeded, never equaled. For what? Each composition, each album [excluding, for my part, the four studio productions from 1991 to 1999, as well as 'Fly From Here' (2011) and 'Heaven & Earth' (2014)] gives us a clear, precise explanation, indisputable. To use an expression dear to classical music lovers: "An auditory orgasm". And live, what a performance! Thanks.
[NB: Having not yet listened to them in full, I cannot comment on the last three albums.]

The 2 _Keys to Ascension_ albums, _The Ladder_ and _Magnification_ all came out during the period between 1996-2001 and are all great YES albums. Their latest, _Mirror to the Sky_ (2023) is another latter YES effort worth checking out. So, I'm afraid, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on that assessment. And I have been a YES fan-(atic), since 1980, 44 years.
@@TheReaperMan275 1. In my estimation, I did not consider the two 'Keys To Ascension' albums (1996-97) because they are hybrid productions made, largely, of covers. 2. We seem to agree on the fact that 'Magnification' (2001) deserves to be rated as a very good YES production. 3. Unless all of the band's albums are "excellent" for you, our only disagreement seems to be on 'The Ladder' which I consider at most "acceptable". 4. The first YES album that I bought when it came out was "Tales from Topographic Oceans" (1973); I own all the others, except the last four. Now, which gives a certain idea of my age. 5. Thank you for your comment on the very latest album: 'Mirror To The Sky' (2023). 6. Our comments are only a very personal judgment of taste. They do not have the value of truth... And perhaps it is better that way! Best regards.

Hey Brendon! Now that you watched this amazing video some info about it. Took place in Boston. It was the last show of the tour. The stage was designed by Roger Dean. They are inflatable designs. The amazing drum kit was incredible. If you check out the dvd you will see the huge light up drums in action. Try Ritual!!! Thanks again for doing this request. I knew you would love it! Just one of the 3 EXTRATERRESTRIAL bands, you know wich are the other 2. Ah... from 20:45 I watched the video in slow motion and even that, I couldn't see Rick's fingers, what a MASTER, the best keyboard player of all time.

I prefer the speed of the studio version. The live drags a bit in the beginning. The call and response is very cool.

I knew Roundabout from FM radio play but it wasn't until 1977 that I heard the whole FRAGILE album. Then there was no stopping me from falling down the rabbit hole. "Gates Of Delirium" is still my all-time favorite YES masterpiece and one of my favorite songs ever.
I watched you enjoy the track without making that terrible sin of pausing mid-song to yap about something, as so many ignorant song reactors do. That earns you a thumbs-up and a new sub, my friend. I HATE when hosts interrupt great tracks, especially with songs that the artists worked so hard to get you in a particular mood. Kudos.

@@retroreactions.... pausing does nothing to stop copyright blocks. I had a video blocked that had about 10 seconds of the opening bars of a Led Zeppelin hit at best. The A.I. censors have gotten really bad as of late, so good luck and thanks.

And this won`t be a problem on Six Wives because there are no vocals. :) ...or Ann Boleyn. Sorry, it`s hard to pick just one favorite. But you need to find that out for yourself.
