  • Muchimi is a much discussed concept in Karate most particular to Okinawan styles, here is a few strategies I like to employ in my personal training certainly not the definitive one, but one of many.

This is an excellent video and thanks for posting. I learned that muchimi also includes adding weight to your opponent every time you touch them. Imagine a grapple move where you add 30 lbs to them. Add weight on every contact. It exhausts the opponent rapidly.

Excellent presentation on being natural! In our desire we get tight, relax and let it happen.

Hi Thomas, I think your understanding and explanation of Muchimi is on the money, I guess what I would say was that the idea of heavy hands was my own take on the concept and that was to demonstrate my personal approach to developing a reasonable level of striking power over a short distance. As I say not the definitive approach, just my own, one of the things I appreciate about Karate & Martial arts in general is the myriad approaches people have. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video Thomas, and I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

To me. Art of muchimi or muchimi refers to sticking close to or attached to or how power is generated. First time I've heard of heavy hands conditioning referred to as muchimi. Comments?
