Thats how it was when my kid was in high school too (he graduated 2021). He was on the Varsity Esports team but their practices kept getting cancelled for various reasons, usually because they didnt have a teacher to run it. Eventually they cancelled the esports team alltogether for that year. The next year he tried to join again and it was the same thing. They werent able to compete with other teams because of how messed up it all was so he dropped out. Idk if they even still have that extra curricular anymore. It was such a huge disappointment.
