I have a whole collection of 'Notch' shots. Notches are a major part of my Oeuvre. Notches are people too. Without notches, i'd be Nothing. And i'm a sucker for a nice monotone... notwithstanding the relative merits of the B&W and colour, i liked that mono image lots. Liked the moody thing at the end, too. Overall, I'm looking at that environment and thinking you did well. I know i'd struggle there far more than you did simply because i'm used to a rugged and dramatic coastline that bombards me with possibilities. Nice video and food for thought, Andy - Cheers.
And that's my point, I think. My area is about as dramatic as slug trail. Give me all the excitement of a rugged coastline and as much as I think I would love it, I also think I would come away with over-complicated images, hackneyed compositions and so on. But, yes, there can be so little going on that images can be a struggle to find. I have mentioned before how difficult I find these beaches sometimes. Next week, I am at a beach a few miles around the coast that I have struggled on lots too.
@@AndyBanner I find this really interesting, Andy. You're right about the problem with excessive bling in rich areas - shooting in the rainforest, which is so dense, presents a similar problem. I think i have a way to go in honing my eye for comparatively impoverished places... slowing down more and kind of just letting the scene wash over me rather than heading for the next 'highlight' - but it's hard not to get excited when there's often so much. I do admire your ability to get something out of very little on such a regular basis! Carry on carrying on and all the best!!
Hi Andy, one of my favourite coastal locations, Happisburgh never fails to deliver, no matter the weather conditions, loved the soft pastel colours of the sea defences from left to right looking into the hazy sun, great shot, like the B&W also.
Hello, my friend. That first photo, in a square format with a nice soft shadow in it, is very beautiful in my humble opinion. I like intimate photos of a large landscape. Then the viewer has to decide for himself what the big picture is. I took the photo of the post in the sand from a different point of view, I went closer to the ground. Then you get a completely different perspective. But the one you made has become a very beautiful picture because of the light. The shade and structure in the wood look really nice, buddy. Kudos to you. The one you announced in B&W turned out very nicely in color. The tonality of almost the same colors in the posts, the sand, and the sky gives a harmonious feeling. Very very good, friend. And the B&W is very beautiful, really very beautiful. But this is very personal as you know. But I'm coming around a bit. I'm also going to explore color again. The reason is that I impose unnecessary restrictions on myself by only working in B&W. The latter is also very beautiful, a very good composition. Say hello, Nicky. And take care of yourself. Antoine.
Antoine, Hope you are well. Restrictions can be good and bad: if you think of them more as project guidelines, then you're free to deviate when the need takes you. That diffuse post image was awful in mono - not enough contrast or detail to make it work. I could have edited differently to make it work, but I liked the soft orange light so much I wasn't prepared to work on it any more. Yes, I could have shot the post from a lower angle. Need to be mindful of the horizon though. I don't recall varying the height much in the set-up, but then again, I forget my name some days so I honestly could have danced a jig at the location, I wouldn't remember. Thanks for your continued support. Be well and I will pass your regards to Nicky when I see her next. Andy
2:47 stunning image and nothing like I excepted "foot prints" great comment for the less experienced ---- don't stuff the photo by walking into it 5:46 'love it' --- great inspirational composition Good video mate
Another wonderful and informative video Andrew. When I'm out shooting I do try and take onboard everything you teach us. I do like the black and white shot as I'm taking more black and white shots myself. Keep up the good work 👍
very enjoyable as per Andrew 🙂 excellent choice to go B&W when you did. that's not an easy skill - the image at 8:30 is a perfect example. You beat yourself up too much over the focus bracket. The fall-off looked OK to me.
You're too kind. The focus stack is missing at least one, maybe to focus points in the middle, it's not the fall-off that's my concern. It's not easy to see them on YT with the zoom reduction, etc. But, ignoring the technical cock-up, it's a poor shot anyway. I was trying to be too clever and it's failed on all fronts. Still, the diffuse light shot is very nice (even if i do say so myself).
Hi Andrew nice thx but I think your photo @8:52 with the reflection of the posts in the water would of been nicer in B&W with a ND filter as theres some ripple in the water so there must be some wind
Thanks. The old military site is about half way between Happisburgh and Walcott. Perhaps a 20 miniute walk from the lighthouse westward following the Norfolk Coastal Path. I did an entire video from there some months back. Check it out: ruclips.net/video/7j4C1YIgyy4/видео.html
I did the lighthouse a few years back but need to return. Ive learnt a bit from then. Plus i shot it at night. This time i would like to do both. Thank you for all you do. Plus you seem in a much better place. I do hope you are.
My mood swings around lots. I struggle a great deal in the run up to and throughout Christmas and New Year as these time have historically been the worst of my life and hold few, barely any, memories I want to recall.
Well young man Even though in this video was 11 days and I'm just now watching it And since you are the exact same location that Simon the bloke in the woods travels Have you seen lately As I said he does travel the exact same And he is a Bushcraft, canoeist, kayaker RUclipsr
Love the honesty of your videos...Keep up the great work!
Thank you.

Posts into sun with nice yellow warm feeling, is a fantastic shot! And your right your eyes need to travel through the photo. Well done!
I really like this shot too. Thanks
I love the black & white (8:38) what a great perspective 😊
Thank you.
Thanks
A thousand thank yous. Very kind.

Love Happisburgh. So many possible compositions.
Love the shadows Andrew. Thank you for making us think a little different, it’s really motivating me to get out more.
My pleasure! Hope you enjoy your time out with the camera.
Really like these captures, Andy. Thanks for taking us along!
Glad you like them! Thanks for the ongoing support

I wish I could remember to implement everything I ramble on about in these videos! :-) Thanks, Clive.
Well done, good demonstrations and content!

You may be right. There was a constant breeze throughout the morning. Sometimes I shoot first and think later.... Actually, oftentimes... :-)
Lovely work. Are they near the light house.
