      provisions and supplies to the front are stopped by the bzns political party in Bulgaria to cause mutinies in the army they win at Doiran and Italuancire in another battle in a good field there is only one breakthrough which can be stopped by a strike on the flanks or the organization of a new defense but this is not happening because of the military rebellion and the betrayal of Daskalov and Stamboliyski, who were sent to the front to stop the rebellion and to continue the war, the USA supported the Kingdom of Bulgaria, then the rebellion was paid for by France, that's all, they signed an armistice because they could not stop the rebellion

    As a lot of things are missed in this video, I want to add some perspective. Bulgaria was ready to crush the Salonika front in 1916 but due to german orders, the front remained open in order to engage more forces from the Antante. The war of attrition between the colonial powers of France and England on the one side and Bulgaria on the other side was won by the Antante which was the real reason behind the collapse of the front. Bulgaria fought long and was getting weaker by each day while the collonial powers had unlimited men and supplies. In the Battle of Dobro pole the attacing force consisting mainly of french forces and some small serbian forces had a man advantage of 1:5 and artillery advantage of 1:20. Also Bulgaria didn't have unjustified claims on Macedonia at that time because the population was mainly bulgarian (you can find many sources from the newspapers from that time). Also something to add about Serbia because I see they are active here in the comments: Serbia was destroyed and didn't function as a country at that time. Their army was under french command and supplied by them. So it is fair to say that France defeated Bulgaria because the english and greek combined forces failed at the Battle of Doiran. As I see how well the graves of the fallen french soldiers are maintained in N. Macedonia it makes me sad because the bulgarian graves there are mostly destroyed as we are subhumans and N. Macedonia tries their best to erase all connections with Bulgaria. Respect to our neightbour countries and may we never fight a war between us and keep the region in peace. These days are over and hopefully we will never have them again. In conclusion I want to mention that my great-great grandfather was killed after trying to escape captivity from the Antante forces after the collapse of the front. (my sources are english mainly so don't blame me for any kind of propaganda or something also I studied History in the university)

      Ime moje (my name Đorđe is the same as your Georgi), saying that it was the French who overturned the campaign at Salonika front would be the same as saying that the Bulgarians are actually German, since your monarch (who would shortly after abdicate) was a German. There are some facts which cannot be ignored. First, the telegram sent by kaiser Wilhelm to your monarch, saying "Disgraceful! 62000 Serbs decided the war!" might be judged as to provoke reaction and probably exaggerated, but looking at all operations held in these two weeks before capitulation of Bulgaria, only those where serbian armies were involved were successful in breakthrough, as the other nations' armies were not that willing to risk many casualties of their soldiers. There are even some sources claiming that serbian infantry divisions rushed further and faster than even the french cavalry while heading towards Skopje and Niš. In Bulgarian case, all operations held during the war were influenced by german interest, as Bulgaria was practically a German puppet state, so it's fair to say the Bulgarians were the victims of german politics and plans, leaving the Salonika front mostly consisting of bulgarian armies and basically under control of Germans, whose main aims were on western and eastern front. That left Bulgarians in the situation that they need to keep the front stable, but mistreatment of bulgarian soldiers where only Germans would be equipped and fed led to fall of bulgarian soldiers' morale and thus all the mutinies happening while attempting to hold the front. So, it's not the french guns, nor the serbian bravery, but actually german mistreatment as the main influence that led to the known outcome. It is true that bulgarian interference helped the war drag all the way to 1918 as they could use forces from the Balkan front as reinforcement on two other fronts, not knowing that this front would actually decide the war.
      As for N. Macedonia, you know that after the Ottomans this region was practically left as a void filled with people who spoke some language that was not greek, not bulgarian, not serbian, but some cocktail language developed over centuries, and even today you see that people of Macedonia, northern Greece, western Bulgaria and south and southeastern Serbia can understand each other way better than the rest of our countries. Well, this region was in subsequent years, decades, almost the whole century under aggressive attempts to be incorporated into each of the surrounding states and peoples until they got their own republic within socialist Yugoslavia. Out of all, the bulgarian attempts were the most aggressive, hence this hostility coming from Macedonians towards Bulgarians (they get along really well with us Serbs despite all tragedy happening there during the XX century).
      However, I feel simpathy for Bulgarians as they were really the prevailing force in the Balkans during their involvement up until the very and bitter end, having been left to fight by themselves what was the war of great powers and, I repeat, helped Germany and AH to endure for so long on all the three fronts. So yes, Bulgarians really deserved a monument and they would most probably have if the central powers won the war.

      @@billybilly9678 I am glad we share the same name. I share the same Surname also with a lot of modern day north-macedonians but they will call me tatar or mongol or whatever their propaganda has told them to call the bulgarian people. About our monarch - indeed he was a german who was put on the throne from the Great powers (mainly Russia) but this is another topic. As you mention the facts, let's start with this fact: Serbia was destroyed and stopped functioning as a state by the end of December 1915 after the Kosovo operation by the Bulgarian army. The remaining serbian forces fled to Corfu. Where was the Serbian army in 1916? 1917? early 1918? This is not a question as we know the answer. It is true that Bulgaria could close the Salonika front in 1916 but was ordered by Germany just to make a front where Entente forces could be engaged. Also it was actually the french guns which decided the battle as they began using flamethrowers which were unknown to the Bulgarian army at that time. About Macedonia you are so wrong so I recommend you read some english or western sources about the ethnicity of the region. Bulgarians there were like at least 60% of the population, also a lot of high class bulgarian generals and politicians were from Macedonia which made the macedonian lobby in the Parlament very strong so it made the country fight for Macedonia at all costs. The fact that the regions you mentioned could understand each other is because they were all mainly bulgarian (check Bulgarian exarchy 1870 which was a document signed by the Sultan). The Macedonian question is too long and complicated to discuss so I will only mention that the idea behind independent Macedonia was first formed in Sofia around 1889 and the idea was unification of Bulgaria and Macedonia like we did it in 1885 with Eastern Rumelia. Another thing is we were never hostile to Macedonia as propaganda says. Why there were no uprisings in Macedonia during our reign? Good question. Macedonians became hostile to Bulgaria because of the Yugoslavian propaganda, Soviet and Bulgarian communist parties in order to erase everything between the two countries. Big success for Yugoslavia in this matter. Bravo! Also big mistake from Bulgaria is that after the major surrender of the Serbian army, some of the prisoners were allowed to go home...This favour would not be returned after the war. A lot of bulgarians were kept prisoners for long years some of them returning after 10 years! Every state commits bad things during war (this is the harsh truth about the war) so there is nothing like Serbia is good or Bulgaria is bad, both countries did bad things to each other (this is war). Serbia won the war, they took what they wanted but their overextending made them face another problems which came many years later. We lost the war but we live in peace and mainland Bulgaria has not seen war for more than 100 years. In the end, I want everybody in the Balkans to live in peace, shake their hands and move forward. Be proud with your nation and history but don't let nationalism poison your mind towards you neighbours. Peace!

      @@georgitraykov2792 I mostly agree with you, but I love discussions so we can challenge our differences and probably we will not eventually meet, but as you give me food for thought (and you really do), I will try to do the same. Where was Serbian army from 1916-1918? In September 1916 they conquered the peak of Kajmakcalan and subsequently the town of Bitola (Monastir) and even established part of statehood there (the rest of the statehood was logically stationed in Corfu), which makes the country at least 1% liberated (yay). About the front closing it is in the domain of theory what would happen, and it's not they didn't try - they certainly did, but the joined allied forces also had their say on it. Central powers calculated that the closing the front should engage more forces transferred from another fronts, so they rejected the possibility as it would weaken them on other fronts. About the guns, yes, we had the french guns right from the start of the war as you had German or whatever else, but it's not the guns; for comparison, good instrument doesn't make you a good musician. The Macedonian question is really that complex, so we could drag on to this, but we need one Macedonian to join the discussion. However, yes, there were more people declaring themselves as Bulgarians than people declaring themselves as Serbs, Albanians or Greeks, but the majority actually declared themselves as simply peasants as the Ottoman rule for 400 years obviously took its toll, with nationality lately being part of the influence from neighboring countries. Well, that influence was mostly Bulgarian and there was an oppression going on and lot of shit during the turn of the centuries with lots of atrocities even in peace time, of course from all sides. We could agree how it managed to become a part of Serbia in 1912 and not Bulgaria (it was again the fuckup by great powers which made allied countries of Serbia and Bulgaria dispute over this territory since Italians lobbied not to allow Serbians to do what they previously arranged with Bulgaria). As for the communist influence in breaking ties with Macedonia, well, get in line, we also have something to say about it, but it's not the issue now and I will not stretch the subject, it's still not the fact, but theory. A lot of POWs from all sides experienced the same destiny as those Bulgarians returning home after 10 years, I will mention some of the Serbs even ending up somehow in far East, in China, Korea and Japan, but most of them got stuck up in Russia fighting in Russian civil war (as my grandgrandfather who firstly got mobilized by A-H, then deserted to the Russian side). It is true that Serbia's overextending made them face a whole lot of problems and it's actual even now since our country keeps shrinking year by year since the '90s, but that is also some other issue (too painful). About the war, I totally agree with you, there is no good in war, regardless for what good you're fighting (and they all fought for some good), it's not a sports event, it's just killing and conquering. I was born in peaceful time, spent my childhood while there was a war in Bosnia and Croatia, suffered bombing by NATO, have Croatian part of the family from grandmother's side, have Bosnian and muslim friends, not quite related to the Bulgarians as I'm from western Serbia (well I used to work with them in market research industry, got along real fine) and I send you peace and love. Had some events in the history happened differently, who knows, we would easily end up in the same country and declared the same nationality, but in this reality we are slavic and orthodox brothers if nothing more. Btw, we also have Trajković families down in the south and southeast (well logically).

    • @georgitraykov2792
      @georgitraykov2792 15 дней назад

      @@billybilly9678 You are right about Kaymakchalan was a great Serbian victory but it had little stategic consequences. Also the casulties were great from both sides. The loss of Bitola was more of strategic move from our army but still a loss. About Macedonia - it was decided that the Russian Emperor will be the arbitrage between Bulgaria and Serbia (this is an agreement before the Balkan war which Serbia didn't honor). The Great powers made Bulgaria and Serbia hate each other for their own good. They did a good job for sure. Also you are right that under different circumstances we could end in the same country as Bulgaria was about to join Yugoslavia at some point but was declined by the serbs as they feared that bulgarians could become the leading nation in the country. It is all true that in our core we are orthodox and slavic (mainly but not only as 40% of modern bulgarians have proto-bulgarian genes) countries and we share more similarities than differences. Many countries have been at war for long time and still managed to shake their hands after everything (France and Germany for example). From my point of view bulgarians are mainly friendly to serbian people (because of serbian music, skara and other things) but I don't think that serbians see us the same way. A few months ago I saw anti-bulgarian propaganda in serbian media with Vucic sponsoring it (something about bulgarian attrocities during WW1). I mean why would you boost these nationalistic views and hatred towards your neighbour if you have good intentions? Why don't you boost the relations in a different way? Politics. I want all Balkan countries to thrive and develop, erase this ethnic hatred and move forward for our own good...I also send you peace and love from the most beautiful region of Bulgaria (Rodopi). May God bless you and your family and may never our countries be at war.

    Thank you for this video. When talking about "Serbia in WW1", people often think of Serbia with its current borders, which is wrong. Because, during that time, half of Serbian territory actually was what is now North Macedonia, as Vojvodina and other regions were not yet part of Serbia.
    In 1912, Serbia doubled its size by gaining land from the Ottoman Empire, which now makes up North Macedonia. The Kingdom of Serbia quickly began recruiting Macedonians into the military, and half of the Serbian army soldiers were Macedonians. Many battles in WW1 took place in Macedonia.
    Following the creation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, the Serbian King continued to treat Macedonians as Serbian, attempting to assimilate them into Serbian culture. This policy led to the assassination of several Serbian officials by Macedonians in the 1920s, including the assassination of King Alexander of Yugoslavia by a Macedonian in 1934.

      @@williamthebonquerer9181 If Serbia honoured its deal. Serbia held territory that was full with Bulgarians some ancestors of mine included. National unification was the sole goal of the nation and the people. Neutrality wasnt possible but Bulgaria negotiated with the Entente in WW1 but what they promised was half-assed and offered territories from the Ottoman empire which we didnt want, compared to other states we didnt want just land but people. Greece agreed to give up territory but Serbia ignored any requests from France and Great Britian. Serbia being ally after Serbo-Bulgarian war and then Balkans wars was not possible. They expired their trust from us and war was the way. Bolsheviks for us came in WW2 when Central Powers lost either way, Hitler would have been in power any way, his tactics would have been similar, Hitler would have threatened invasion of Bulgaria and to avoid it Bulgaria probably would have joined again the Axis to play as an ally but invasion by the USSR probably would have happened again, Stalin used stupid reasons to do it. We didnt give him reasons whatsoever but he still did it as it was his plan.

    Again I need to put critic on your video. Bulgaria lost couple of fierce battles way before 1918, the most notable "Battle of the Crna Bend" 1916 where they were forced to retreat from Bitola that was important strategic spot which after in 1918 enabled front breakthrough. Serbs and Bulgarians during this period clashed heavily on the mountain Kaimaktsalan taking a huge loses on the both sides but at the end Serbs re-captured the mountain top. Also you made huge mistake by mentioning Doiran battle as the main reason of armistice besides poor soldiers condition. The main attack and front breakthrough happened at Dobro Pole from the side of Second Serbian army under the command of Field Marshal Stepa Stepanović supported by French colonial division. Right after this front collapsed Serbian First and Second army advanced all the way to Skopje while Brits and Greeks were still stocked at Doiran. By the way again mistake that it was the end of fighting, from Skopje Serbian army advanced to north clashing with Germans at Niš, although small it was still battle and together with couple of other towns on the way to Belgrade where Germans tried to make town defenses before evacuation or even traps but they were overwhelmed by Serbian troops.

      Since 1842 historians or other started making maps of the ethnic make up of the Balkans and other places but 1842 was the first by a Czech guy and maybe a Swiss one. I have heard of at least 50 maps from around the world of people coming to collect data. The Ottoman records of the time showed similar data. The biggest groups in Macedonia and the time were bulgarians, then greeks, then turks. San Stefano was a treaty that was made for some in "maximalistic borders" to include all bulgarians with significant minority or majority mostly. If it wasnt meant for Bulgaria to have them then dont give them at all in the first place. What data was takne supported the borders, then came the politics. Greece wanted Megali idea to be achieved but was far fethched but they didnt care. Serbia decided it wont let Bulgaria be dominant even if Bulgaria really didnt care for that, it wanted to be the dominant slavic nation in the Balkans and went on any lenghts to achieve it, we gave them 2 chances before we gave up and just entered in wars against them. Apart of those two nations who desired just land and people it seems, Bulgaria fought we the intent to include the biggest proven group of people which was in Macedonia. It became a national ideal, a right goal. If it succeded Bulgaria would have probably moved more into isolation after than, expansion without any reason wasnt a thing. So what was the nonsense then and stupid nationalism, you look it through modern lens and its naive. Half of my family would have died maybe in another future if they stayed in Macedonia and I probably would be a thing.
      Bulgaria lost in the end all wars, the victors write the history and Bulgaria remained mostly as a militaristic aggressor. Even if data was mostly on our side, we talk about Russian, British, French, Austrian, Italian, Swiss, US and other making maps, one of the was from a Greek and as expected had more greeks in places compared to the rest.
      All this was said for the later part of your comment and with no anger.
