Another classic to which you are treating us. Leroy Anderson was quite a writer; but this arrangement is am improvement on his original. Nice riffing with all the trimmings; I particularly like the bridge material the arranger has cooked up. Well done again; you have courage to present these with a minimum of preparation. I'm not quite that advanced, yet, but working up to it. Nice rolling of pretty big, out of position chords when necessary. Impressive playing.
Thanks again! I hope that other listeners realize what I'm doing with this channel and with my different projects--I am relying a lot on sight reading and pattern recognition to be able to take a song to a performance level in a day. I've noticed that over time, I can now process jazz rhythms and chords at a much faster pace! It's been a fun challenge and learning process.
I envy the sight reading ability you have and how well every piece seems to work. I didn't realise since I'd gotten so used to your frequent uploads until I read the other comment on here and pondered on it a littlele, but you are purely playing by what's in front of you with minimal preparation and just through sights and instincts. Also, it is lovely to hear a jazzed up holiday piece! You are truly the queen of jazz for me
Thank you so much, Ed! You are very kind. I have always enjoyed the challenge of sight reading, and I love trying to learn a piece well enough to perform it in a very short period of time. I do read through the song once very slow and then most of the time can then run it at performance speed. For some songs, I may have to repeat a few difficult passages slowly a few more times to get at the "meaning" and then it will come together. It has been many years of playing and learning and consuming a LOT of sheet music, so even though it seems like it's instant learning, I am building on lots of foundation. I have definitely been enjoying this deep dive into jazz! I think I still have a lot to learn before I can be a queen though!! ❤ Thanks for listening!
