I think I can see a bad solder joint just behind the rear of the speaker

TheDefpom been over all the joints it's most likley a control chip or electrolyric.

Interesting video. I recently purchased a new Tivoli PAL (Bluetooth version). But I'm disappointed in the AM tuner - extremely rolled off highs. As someone who has worked on these - how hard would it be to modify the AM filter to something a little wider? At the very least, I'm going to buy an older model to see if they were any better because I heard one years ago and don't remember AM sounding this bad.

It's most likely the very narrow IF bandwidth. Not a lot as it's all on an IC I'd expect.

@@SoddingaboutSi Appreciate the reply! I decided to go ahead buy an older Tivoli iPAL off of eBay (one with Henry Kloss' name still on the front as seen in this video) and I can definitively say the AM sound quality is FAR superior. I don't know what all they did to the new PAL but it is not the same radio Henry Kloss developed. Also, the newer bluetooth version sounds like it has a DSP tuner (mutes between stations) whereas the older iPAL has true continuously analog tuning. The user experience is completely different, but I much prefer the latter.
My only gripe now is the artificial bass boost which seems to works ok for most FM content but makes for an exaggerated and boomy low end on AM and some music. I'd like to see if I can figure out how to turn it off. Do you think someone with moderate soldering skills could defeat the bass boost in this radio without too much trouble? Thanks.
