Thanks for this. It really sounds great. My PAL pre-dates this one and has been doing great for about 15 years. The battery lasts 4-5 years. Water resistance is a big plus. It must have been inside the humid bathroom, outside the shower to play news for me thousands of hours. Small drips aren't an issue.
Thanks for this video ! I picked up one of these a couple years ago, 2nd hand, but it has not lived up to the hype. I have the same problem with scratchy tuning, but it hasn't been cleared by blowing canned air into the RF section; there has been some improvement, but not dramatic. Really disappointed at the build quality compared to the MSRP, and then to see so many people having similar problems. I'll keep looking; right now it's for the bathroom during shower time - it sits opposite the shower and is the only thing that can be loud enough to heard over the shower.
The sound is tuned very well for the size of the device, and the tuner is very nice if you want an analog tuner, it is the best dial tuner I have experienced. The kit inside is about what is expected for a device that is $150, I really don't understand what all the complaining is about. I have the BT/AM/FM device, and I had 2 or 3 devices that were $70 from tecsun that broken the same way before I got the Tivoli, The Tivoli sound quality is better, and until the airline broke it in my luggage (why I am at this video) it has been flawless. I have been using it for 4+ years. It still works, but something is broken inside.
This is a classic example of the power of marketing over engineering. It's a bog standard analogue non-synthesized FM radio with no LCD display for frequency display and it costs a fortune.
I remember first seeing one of these around 2008/9 ... They were (and still are) ludicrously expensive ... From the outside they do indeed look premium, and the rotary dial is superb, but ... if they chuck crap components inside, that's just messed up (just opened a shitty Canon printer power supply, and it had exclusively the same series Rubycon caps in it ... and that thing was 80$ new tooops)
Can't tell what's being unscrewed at 4:54. I have a piece of rubber/insulation glued to the back under the battery which I'll have to rip up (and not be able to replace). Cheers!
My radio started to buzz one day and would buzz as i turned channels. Then the music and buzz started to get quiet tell there was no sound or noise at all. But i still have power. Any ideas or suggestions to fix it
I’ve got one of these, had it about 12 yrs never had an issue with it,up until now that is,the tuning knob seems to be getting harder to turn, any ideas😩
I had the same problem. In addition my model one would wander off the selected frequency which was very irritating. I found and performed the process at the top of this page: tivoliaudio.com/pages/model-one-bt-troubleshooting and all has come right. The tuning knob is also much easier to turn. Apparently there is a lubricant in the tuning capacitor which can settle over time making the knob harder to turn.
Pity that they're so bad in terms of quality. When I was younger I read the Elektor magazine (Called "Elektuur" in the Netherlands) form time to time, (our local library had them). When these "Tivoli Audio" radios were new they had opened one to find that they were build to excellence. I believe that one had a wooden case, but also an unbranded speaker. I never owned one myself, but I always regarded them as high(er) quality devices because of that article. It's a shame that the manufacturer opted for building their overpriced product down to a price. And yes... ladybugs emitting that orange/yellow stinky stuff is a defence mechanism, I used to call it ladybug piss :)

Roger Onslow I am in total agreement. Its a basic superhet with poor quality components. It does sound quite nice but it's poor underneath the covers.

I used to sell these when I worked at Sevenoaks Hifi, they always sounded good but I was also pretty shocked when I looked inside one!

My antenna fell off so I took it to a “fix it” clinic and the gentleman was able to reattach the antenna, but now the speakers don’t work! Any ideas?
Could be the headphone jack or amplifier. Hard to say without seeing it.
@@SoddingaboutSi same problem here but I can hear sound when I plug in headphones
I bought one for 2,44💲 at the second hand.
