You should have been there for the ORIGINAL experience!! Lasers from the screen over you, and lasers from the back of the theater hitting the screen! LN2 swamped the audience when the ship crashed. And the theater SHOOK as well during explosions!! It was truly an amazing experience and one that would be awesome should it ever be brought back. I tearfully enjoyed the encore experience, but it was no where near what the original attraction was!! I remember when there would be lines out the door over an hour long to get to see it!!
What's LN2????? Yeah, I remember Michael moonwalking over the audience. There was more 3d over the audience than the post 2009 experience. We just got the rock I think and Disneyland differed from Disneyworld as far as the experience.
Definitely can't have the full experience without the Kodak preshow. 1987 was around the first time I watched it and probably at least another 15 times over the years... we always rushed over right after the Illumination fireworks for the last showing of the night. Always a great ending to a day at Epcot!!
"Please silence your cell phones". Now, there's a phrase I DIDN'T hear during any of the times that I have watched "Captain Eo"! This is because I had watched it back in 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990 (i.e. years before cell phones became mainstream; back then, cell phones were mostly seen in expensive sports cars like the Ferrari and the Porsche, as well as in luxury cars).
Thank you for sharing! I have been looking for a full walkthrough. This was one of my all time favorite attractions at EPCOT. I hate that they closed it again.
It doesn't look like anything's changed at Epcot since the 80s...it all looks so familiar!!! I remember walking into that exhibit and standing there watching it! I didn't like that we had to stand, though, lol, but the 3D was really cool! Sigh....I really miss the 70s and 80s...but, it looks like, I could re-experience it with a trip back to Epcot lol
Growing up in LA. We went to Disneyland so many times. My favorite thing to do was go on space mountain, watch captain do and star tours. They’re all in Tomorrowland at DL. When exiting space mountain. You would always hear another part of me play when Captain so was exiting. Good times
Wow, lazers, moving seats, disco lights, plus 3d, that had to have been sooooo cool to see this in person, I can’t even imagine if they added the fog to this too, I went to something that used all of these effects plus fog before, wasn’t this, but it was an immersive video game theatre in florida, it was SOOO cool.
I remembered seeing that as a kid. There was a fog effect when the spaceship was landing, but now in the tribute version, it didn't have that which sucked for me. It was STILL awesome.
I remember as a kid in Australia reading a magazine about Michael Jackson in 1988 and it said he had a disneyland movie. I dreamed of seeing it. After the 1993 allegations I believe they closed the US versions but the one in Japan didn't close. After his death it reopened. In 2010 I finally went in Anaheim, then again in 2011. Now they're all closed again. Now I don't think they will ever reopen them. Very sad. At least I got to go and see it in person.
i sore this when i was just 12 and i sooo luv this never been seen in England on TV i feel every one should see this its amazing i so want go back i wonder this still on there i wonder cos i was just 12 and i ownly been the once sadly xxxxx
I wish they kept this ride! Disney Shorts Film Festival doesn’t fit in with the area the show is in and its boring as all hell! If I wanted to watch Disney shorts, id watch them on RUclips. They need to bring back Captain EO!
Do you have the rest of the intro music from 11:40. I have been searching for a full recording of the song since Captain EO left and yours is the closest from entering the theater until that song ends while guest are loading.
Thank you for sharing. Your recording is the best audio recording of that piece. The bass, sound, and the host did not talk much. I used to hate it when the host talked over my favorite piece of music. That music was tranquil and beautiful new age and soothing. Definitely set the tone for an awesome movie of the 80s and 90s.
The James Horner score is brilliant (gives me goosebumps all the time!!) specially at the intro (Walk-in)! Too bad this music has never had a commercial release!
When I took my son to Epcot Center in 1994, they showed this Captain EO which was sensation. Are they still showing this Captain EO at Epcot Center nowadays ?
The 3D version ran from 2010 - 2015. The original ride was closed in the mid-90’s for a Honey, I shrunk the kids ride called “Honey, I shrunk the audience”
When they brought it back, did they update any of the special effects, or was it exactly the same as it was in 1986? I saw it in 1988, 1990, 1991 and 1993.
It was different. Most of the effects were removed after the show originally closed~ such as the fog, lasers and the star field effect. They did use the in theater effects left over from Honey I Shrunk The Audience, though. Such as the bouncing floor.
@pokey seriously amd you have you tube? Stop wasting people's time even if u are young. If u found this then u can type on ur search bar. Smh kids today man the world is doomed 😹
Duuuude good stuff!! Loved Captain EO and wish I got good footage like this!
+Ben Laurence It was funny because I was digging through my old files and found all of this footage! So happy that I filmed it
I love when MJ yells at Hooter 🤣
I can't help but laugh xD
And I just love hooters 😋
"Hurry up and fix it Hooter!"
R.I.P. Captain EO 3-D Experience
2010 - 2015
(They shouldn’t have closed it because it’s a great tribute to Michael Jackson)
Rip Captain EO
(1986-2015
They wouldn't have it now no matter what. Disney doesn't have the simpsons episode with MJ on Disney+.
@@wendysremix naw disney needs captin eo back
@@deonhall1544 I agree but MJ is blacklisted now
I am so happy I got to see this as a kid but am so upset that they took it away 😭

They need to rebuild and remaster this ride.
Hopefully there is an extended version and sequels can be made.

This really took me back. Thanks man.
Love this! Never got to see it in person. Did anyone mention the super tall guy who's head blocked a chunk of the screen?! Lol

I seen it in 86-87, I was 7-8 at the time. One thing I could clearly remember is hating the glasses.

Bring back to Disneyland ❤

@@JakeOrl It's a shame they didn't reinstall the original effects but I guess it would have been very expensive.
So this ride is really gone?
I have happy memories of the Captain EO ride! I do not remember such an ugly pink carpet pattern though, haha!
What's in this building now?
Pixar short film festival
When was this filmed? 2010 or 2018?
Not sure which year but not 2018!
A very long time ago cause those are the original jumping fountains. They have since re vamped them and they are similar but not the same
JakeOrl it first premiered in 1986
Id rather have the money
Hmmm, no credits here either...perhaps it was done right this way, eh?
Who's Michael.jackson ? Is he from Nickelodeon ?
Said no one ever.
