Do you have an opinion on how many placements a foster to adopt parent may have before an adoption opportunity presents itself? I’ve heard varying answers, and I’d love to know your opinion!
Jima Konjo no, parents do not get paid. You will receive a per diem each month based on the child’s needs and diagnoses. This is not income to the foster parent, but assistance to cover the living expenses of the child. It is quite a small amount compared to the amount paid to group homes. Most children in Georgia receive amounts around $500 per month. Compared to group home placements which can cost up to $200 per day, or $5,000+ per month!
