Back when Coaster Bombardier cab car 2303 had the perfect sounding K5LA horn along with its original EMD steel bell. Later, cab car 2303's original horn started sounding bad with some of its horn bells fitted with choke fittings to restrict air flow due to train horn noise complaints. Today, cab car 2303 is equipped with a newer raised letter K5LA horn along with a new Graham White 373 Series electronic bell. Unfortunately, cab car 2303's newer K5LA horn has its #3A and #5 bells dead, fouling its newer horn sound.
2303 has that horn but they just put a choke in it so if u remove it you will hear that k5la music again (Message to coaster) REMOVE THE CHOKE RIGHT THIS INSTANT.
@@trainguy110 Yeah... the train horn haters just need to move away from crossings to not hear horns. Sadly this horn was choked, replaced by a K5CA then a raised letter K5
LOVE that horn! Too bad it's choked now, but it could be worse... A million things have to go wrong for a railroad to use P2 horns though, so I still love 2303 all the same.
This is a great collection of an outstanding horn being well-played by the engineer. The last one in the set is fantastic! Bright, loud, and clear! Nice job on these! Dave CP359
@@therookie9276 a K5CA-LS is a Canadian tuned K5LLA that uses bells 1L,1,3,3B,4. Cabcars 2303, and 2304 now have this horn. It sounds pretty bad to most, But I think it sounds quite unique. ruclips.net/video/DMXHo6FKg-Q/видео.html Heres a video of one; The 14L horn sequence is given with one blast of the regular K5LA in the beginning. Then the rest of the sequence with the K5CA emergency horn.
@CaliforniaRailfan101 I do wanna catch some ACE's someday, they have nice horns!! Better than Coasters now cause of the stupid ass chokes they installed in the horns.
yea nice catches catching this coster with nice horn action
with 2101 on it
I could listen to that all day! So beautiful

Indeed!! One of the best K5LA's I've ever heard!! So much tune to it!!
It really helps ur point when there's an engineer that knows how to really quill the horn.
2303 still sounds great even if it's chocked. Plus 6903 is back on the Surfline. Still sounds great!
Sweet sounding K5! One of the best I have heard!
Honestly shivering. Just brings a tear to my eye cuz yknow what they say. Nothing blows like a nathan
Indeed however Nathan didn't make this K5LA. This was a product of Holden LTD. The Canadian Airchime.
Holy crap. Splendid horn
My god, I would die to own that horn. I hope that horn is in good hands now.

I remember this Coaster Set on that day when I was riding it from Solana Beach to San Diego and Return to Solana Beach with my Mom.

Now that's the way blowing for crossings should be done.
@AmtrakSurfliner768 It's a beauty!! Metrolink needs to use their K5's. I bet a lot of those idle K5LA's sound pretty good.

@TrainDr101 True, 2303 sounds great quilled, such a great melody
3:02 # Shave and a Haircut, Two Bits!!! 2:40 is the part I like the best!
2303 has an emergency horn now
And it sucks.
Now it has a restricted RL K5LA

@BonesCentralRR Yes it is!! Thanks man
I love this video and the horn
What happened to the K5LA on all trains?
Choked
Coaster just had to screw over the K5LA's...
@kodachrome9319 Yes it is, as well as the other 3!! These are all 2303
@CP359 Thanks
@GEBNSF785 It does sound good still but not like this, not as loud. What F59 was 6903 last with? I wanna go see it soon
See after watching this makes me hope the raised letters these all have get restricted to the point they need to be replaced again.
i cant believe that 2303 has a K5CA now :(
The fuck is a K5CA? You mean Choked K5LA?
RailRoamer no a k5ca :( which is basically a crappy k5la

Hey NJT4120, I realized that a while ago, but thanks though
Not anymore coaster cab car 2303s K5CA horn has been replaced by a raised letter K5LA
Wow! Too bad that horn is good as gone now... Great video Chris!
0:06 is when the horn starts
@fixierider97 My favorite cabcar horn!!!
@CoasterFan2105 Agreed!!
Now thats how a k5la is supposed to sound. Unrestricted
@AmtrakCal462 Coulda swore the original title said 2301.. ; - )
@eddieg749 Thanks
@UnionPacific18 Thanks dude, ya the chokes are such a joke, why even put them in when everything is going to be a quiet zone eventually anyways.
Just a FYI, that 3rd video is 2303... ; - )
@coastertim2309 Yes
Dose he still work for coaster unlike 2302s driver ): edit: "engineer"
good video
@RAILTECHCHASER I agree 100%
@AmtrakCal462 I believe 451.
