Never use a debit card. There is no protection. Use a credit card if you need to use plastic.
No kidding man. I had a drag out with my wife about 10 years ago she insisted on using a debit card, she had $5,000 in fraudulent in charges to her account. Had to go to sheriff's office and file a complaint. It was returned. I was furious.
If her bank was paying attention they would have recognized her change in spending that same day and lock her account followed by phone call and text. They should know here spending habits there computers should have flagged her after the second or third purchase if she doesn't shop like that and withdraw cash like that.
@whome1629 we went on vacation and our credit union wouldn't let a payment go through. We had to call them to tell them it was us out of state.
@@whome1629 Why not set up bank txt alerts. I don't trust the bank to recognize unusual charges. I've set mine on my debit card for anything over $50, meaning the charge will go through but I'll get a notification. Scammers go for big purchases. So if I used it to make little charges under $50 no alerts, but over $50 I get a txt mssg. The easiest way to monitor the card usage. I also set up alerts on credit cards for over certain amounts. In today's environment better safe than sorry. My debit was used about a yr ago (skimmer stole info) but because I had alerts, I called & was promptly refunded by my bank & issued new card.
Yup. Use credit then go home and pay the difference back to your credit card with the debit card. ...and don't use the TAP feature
Never use a debit card! It is direct access to your money. Always use a credit card and pay it off monthly.
Identity theft should be prosecuted to the highest extent and people caught should be serving 10 to 20 years in prison
Agree! I would go a step further by having the thief scam the drug cartels or triads for one year in their territory if they want to avoid going to jail. Those two groups are ruthless if they are cheated.
Yeah agreed
Identity theft is not a joke
Millions of families suffer every year
@KGBSpyGeorgeCostanza I think we need to prosecute the federal government for identity theft. They don’t represent us, but they pretend to. I sense an impersonation.
They don't serve 20-30 minutes. Plus, the lib courts allow them to keep the money.
Starting with Biden for Importing scammers? Yea I think she should start getting prosecuted. I thought Biden was He/Him no? Ohhh it's She/Sher by the shea sore. Shame
Police DO NOT recommend making a report by calling 911. WTF… there’s a non-emergency number for things like that.

It started in the late 1980s.
The solution is to allow chip-only transactions. It is like that everywhere else.
@@OrdinaryMan1999-tn4hh Tried it once but stopped.
Skimmers found in convenience stores right in front of cashiers you can't trust anywhere anymore.
Exactly it's why when someone needs something from the back I check the pin pad after the transaction is done.
Ya and the people who run the store are the ones who do that.
no lol not skimmers old head
Most banks offer notifications. Every time my card is used, I get a notification. The second my card is swiped, I get a notification on my phone
Same
That helps.
I use that feature as well
Really? Which banks?
EXACTLY. Same here. Luv the text notifications 😁👍🏻
Bring the skimmer that you find to your bank if you encounter one and bring proof of the business that had this. Employees of those businesses are apart of the scams at time
Reminds me of when my story when an employee at a bank was using a skimmer at the atm at the bank.
There are so many things our government agencies should be focusing on to make our lives safer yet they seem to be more focused on persecuting their political opponents
Agreed, but some political opponents are criminals who warrant being prosecuted.
And sending Trillions upon Trillions of Dollars to Israel and Ukraine, funding Kamala's All Men Must Go To Prison Law, and giving government power to BLM and NBPP.
@@grandmaida7819 right and whether it’s illegal or not depends on which party is the accused
But never in the history of America has a political opponent incited an insurrection against our capital.
@@mopes2713 who called it an insurrection? The courts have not called it an insurrection. The left wing media calls it an insurrection.
Remember use a credit card not your debit card. Banks will fight to the death for their money (credit card) but not for yours (debit card). Also avoid 7 elevens unless paying cash they are know for skimmers and are most likely in on it
Can we have shop owners check their machines regularly? Can we have banks and services and a task force for this? Are we just gonna let this keep happening? Skimming has been a nationwide issue for years now. Jesus
I’ve even heard of skimmers in car wash stations in my town. They’re everywhere now. Use cash.
Use cash at stores and gas stations.
I go inside and pay, thankfully haven't had an issue.
Or just use the tap feature and avoid touching cash contaminated with cocaine and feces.
Always go inside to pay
Nah. Cash is for low life who don't want to pay tax and using cash is easy target for thief.
@@Nishkid641 First, taxation is theft. Second, I have been using cash for over fifty years and never been robbed, but I open carry daily too.
People need to activate their bank alerts too whenever there's a transaction on their account, that way they will know right away if something is charged or debited on the account. Don't wait until the next time you happen to check it online to find out there's fraudulent charges.
It puzzles me that people haven't figured that out yet. You can even lock the card now.
One of the things you got to check for these days is not so much scammers but family members taking other family members stuff.
Woah. Still haven't learned to never use your debit card? Unbelieveale.
Chime is really great too because they not only offer debit account, but also a reloadable credit card card. The credit cards balance is based on how much you put on it. It will never negatively impact credit score, and has the ability to help you build positive credit.
@@ayyyejesterdazedhello beautiful
Of course the cops failed to mention the two simplest rules to avoid this:
1. Use credit cards not debit cards (because a scam debit transaction can instantly empty your bank account, but that won’t happen with a credit card).
2. When using a card tap it don’t swipe it (because skimmers read the magnetic stripe on the card, but they can’t read the chip).
Credit card is superior in every way if you pay back what you owe
A credit card is fine if you actually have one. Some of us don’t have one so we have to use something other than that.
Magnetic stripes need to be phased out.
@@slbellue6874 get a no credit or new credit card. Even people with bad credit can have one. If you can't have a credit card because of fees or a spending addict, use cash or even just prepaid visa cards. Take out money from the bank itself. Only use the cash to purchase things. Use a savings account to store your money.
Never use debit and PIN. Always credit cards and pay balance in full every month. And get alerts on every real time transactions. This also helps to build excellent credit scores. And freeze or lock your credit files so ID thefts cannot use to apply loans.

The same alerts are on DEBIT cards Genius 😏🙄
Going back to cash. Always preferred it, and I got a couple nice money clips I need to get out from the 90s! Stay aware and safe everyone.
ALWAYS keep your cards locked when not in use.
Use cash! When you use cash, you are also saving the store from having to send a chunk of your money to them. The banks are not our friends.
Looks like something she order online and an employee used her info to order more stuff. The employee could not change the address and the items were send to her house. That employee then could just go there and pick up the packages, unfortunately the packages were found before that happened.

911 is for emergencies only. Wouldn't that be abuse of a 911 call?
Card skimmers have been around since the 2000s .
Pay in cash!!!!
Time to go back to using "cash" no more using cards its to much of a problem now days with low life stealing from the innocent
They place it right in front of the cashier
STOO USING PLASTIC!!!!!

Mother's Day weekend?! Believe it or not, it isn't that sophisticated. Someone close to you got a hold to your card. Your husband spent the money on his other woman and sent you a few random packages to throw you off...GIRL WAKE UP!!!
Do not use debit cards. Credit is protected. Never use bank info anything. And any touch pay.... isn't safe either, more on that within the year.
This is why cash is king …stop using cards and start using cash
Next time pay cash
You get your money back and free packages…I see this as a absolute win
Why do some people not have manners or understanding anymore ?
Who can you trust 🤷♀️?
Very sad.We all have busy, sometimes hectic days, but ignoring someone I think is the worse insult when you need help and in fact,it’s cruel.
I live in western Colorado and just recently had $700.00 stolen the thief’s used my debit card as I was in the bank speaking to someone. I had my card canceled and was given the money back. Do not use gas station ATM’s I will also be purchasing a protective wallet for my id’s
do not even need to skim just take picture of care you got card still so do not cancel till they make a payment
No bank card, credit card, online banking. It sucks sometimes. But they ain't gonna hack me.
Debit cards s/b illegal to HAVE. A debit card is like having $100 bills hanging out of your back pockets. It is exposed CASH. Use a credit card. Most items can be charged. If there's a scam the bank will reimburse you. With a debit card - usually NO. Plus you can get 2% cash back on some cards. Just pay off the balance each month so no interest charge.
I use my debit card inside to pre pay for my gas for my car. I never swipe my card at the pump.
But then apparently there is this brave new world of scamming that doesn't even need the slightest info from your credit card. The AI-fueled algorithm goes on guessing any random number and if there is a match (i.e. the card number exists) then it proceeds to find the password and date of validity by sheer computing power. I saw this the other day on the news here in Japan. People that have credit cards but never used (a woman had hers still sealed) and still were regularly charged mainly from overseas.
stores are in on it too PAY IN CASH COME ON PEOPLE
Anyone with a terminal like this: get tamper-evident stickers! Costco does it, Winco does it. No reason for anyone else to not get a roll of tamper -evident tape and mark their payment terminals.
I always pay for things with cash.
A few years ago that someone bought a couple concert tickets in Japan. I was flagged from my debit card. It was $70.00. There was no way that I was going to Japan. It happened to me a couple times.
Or go back to using cash. You can only lose whats on you. NO MORE
Thank God, Walmart doesn't allow you to use Google Pay or Apple Pay...since skimmers love that department store.
This is exactly why I use cash most of the time
I'm glad someone has some brains around here.
Pay with cash.
Use credit cards and NOT debit cards! Your debit is tied to your bank and it can be cleaned out.
Never use a debit card like you would a credit card for shopping/payments. Never swipe or insert either in a full card reader (like what is at gas pumps, for example) - use only the partial insert chip reader setup or the tap reader setup. Always make sure you fully close out any ATM transaction back to the welcome screen when you are done. End of story.
I know its hard to do for some people but we have to go back to Cash only
Losers need to GET A JOB! STOP STEALING FROM HARDWORKING PEOPLE.
My nephew is a assistant manager at a Walmart and says whenever they do check the card machines they find skimmers on some. Walmart is to cheap to use card readers with Tap and Pay so you have to insert or swipe cards, making them a skimmers playground.
I have a better one, use cash...
Careful if you go anywhere near a 7-11
think im just going to start using a traditional credit card for everything, and then just paying it off at the end of the month. that way, there is nothing for them to drain - and charges can be disputed and investigated much more easily.
Been scammed again!😡😡 not financially, thank goodness, but they are faking someone’s else’s account 🤬. Just wanted to follow someone I really admire greatly and think the world of 😢
If you are a customer in a store tap for payment to avoid typing the pin
Why would scammers ship you products to your own home address ? Doesn't make sense unless they want to steal the packages as they are being delivered.
Why not? If person works can steal them easy and less likely to get cancelled
All credit card machines should have multiple metal bands around them with a lock on it so scammers cant just walk up and slap a cover on it. Make them work for it at least.
What kind of scam involves buying things with someone else's card and then having those things sent to the card owner? Weird. It would only be the store that benefits. Or someone selling the number to other scammers for use and then tricking them too.
Wow! This is scary.
1:03 i paused it on the packing slip so i could read it… how horrifying!! is the criminal trying to send her a subliminal message with those items?! that sinister package should take the charges beyond theft.
Never use an ATM card. You'll learn the hard way if you do. I avoid using the slide or insert too. I look for the touch sensors only. Be careful out there.
Use Cash.
I saw a video where it wasn't so easily noticeable because it was secured really good. It looked like an inside job by the manager. So people should just be careful always. Turn off your credit card when not using, also most machines allow you to bypass debit by hitting enter instead of your pin. That forces CC mode. Usually it says it on the menu somewhere how to not use debit.
Why theres nobody tracking these scammers this is a crime has to stop getting people hard earn money
I will use cash more often
You're telling people to use Apple Pay or Google Pay *which is a key reason phones are stolen & they don't need your password to do it.* Phones are "wallets" now, so remove all cards linked to your phone/payment apps.
Is it OK to tie up 9-1-1 with this type of call?
Based on the same theory, never use a wallet, which is the main reason wallets are stolen!
God I wish we could just return to using cash
Stop using your debit card! Use a credit card and tap to pay. Set up text alerts for any transactions over 1$ Gotta be smart people...
this is more of a bank issue than a consumer issue. The banks need to get control of this, but they dont.
Consumers need to do better research and ditch the old school banks. I love SoFi. And Chime offers a credit card that’s spending limit is based on how much money you put on it. It’s basically a reloadable credit card with perks. It will never negatively impact your credit score, and in some cases even raise your credit score.
@@ayyyejesterdazedWhat’s great about Chime, you can shut off payment transactions.
I never stick my card in gas pumps. I only use the tap option because one time at night the machine did not want to give me my card back. I was about to brake the machine until it finally decided to give it back to me
Since when do gas pumps sequester your card?
@@sa3270 idk but at that time it was 4 am and I needed gas so I went to the one near my apartment and when I got there the screen said go see cashier but store is not open at that time so I was like nah ima put my card in even though it had a tap option available, and once I put my card in it did not let go of my card for like maybe 3 minutes at about two minutes I was telling myself that this machine has two more minutes max before I start using 100% force and on the third minute it gave it back but I still couldn’t put gas. Since then I only use the tap chip reader option.
About the atm machines alerting immediately after a skimmers is attached, about those companies being punished if their machines don’t alert to some strange skimmers?
I barely spend money these days so I'm safe, when I have to spend money its cash for groceries, thats about all I spend.
