Probably because Ishikki is more experienced using these abilities and used these for very long time while kawaki only used these abilities for the first time but I got to give it to Momoshiki. It seems he gotten better at hand to hand combat ever since he's using boruto's body.
Kawaki has just gained this new dojutsu and is still learning all about it. After a while Kawaki even says, "I get it now", implying there's much to learn to gain the full skill and experience use of this dojutsu. Ishiki is a veteran and experienced otsutsuki that has lived for eons probably.

Kawaki truly loves Naruto above all things. Naruto was the only thing that could trigger his karma to return. It was his desperation and desire to protect Naruto at all costs that helped him power up. The way he screamed out Naruto’s title as he was about to be blasted by Momo was so powerful. You can hear it in the voice actors tone, the fear of losing something more precious to Kawaki then his own life! Amazing voice actor for sure. He’s kind of like code in the sense that he’s got a deep desire to do anything for Naruto. The only difference is that Code follows somewhat blindly whereas Kawaki still has his own ideology. He’s already decided that in order to protect Naruto is to eliminate all threats such as Boruto, so long as he has Momo inside him and code. He doesn’t even care if Naruto hates him for it. He’s like Itachi in the sense that there is one life that is more precious to him above all others. He even told Naruto that he can personally kill Kawaki himself once his works done. I never expected that this is the direction Kawaki was going for. In the beginning on the manga/anime we all assumed he was just a big bad that killed Naruto, but he’s such a great character with so many dimensions built around him! Definitely my favourite character in Boruto

@@letiziaveneziani3304 Its fictional first and foremost and I’m all for Kawaki’s character going this way as he is clearly more like sasuke in the sense that he is protecting what his ideals are in his own mind. Sasuke before his last battle with Naruto had decided to rebuild the world in his image where he would take the burden of all the darkness in the world in his own hands the way Itachi handled the leaf vs Uchia issue. Kawaki is doing the same thing. He cherishes village and more importantly Naruto and he feels that he needs to eliminate Boruto as he is a potential risk to Naruto and the leaf as an extension. He was even willing to become a full blown rogue in order to accomplish this goal bad Eida not used her power of omnipotence to rewrite history. Kawaki didn’t ask for her to do it. It makes for an interesting antagonist as Boruto doesn’t wish to kill or really harm Kawaki but he needs to train in order to become strong enough to hash things out with him the way Naruto did with Sasuke. If anything the only real complaint I have is how unoriginal the Boruto series is, as it’s clearly copying most plot points Naruto portrayed lol

Anyway, Itachi protected the entire village, Kawaki just wants to protect Naruto by killing his son too, and nobody asked him to make such a decision (like I said, he can't decide the fate of Boruto). He thinks that's the only way, like Obito thought his way was the only one. Itachi was ordered to kill his clan by his superiors.

If you read Manga it shows he hates the fact that he has to kill Boruto but he’s resolved himself to doing whatever it takes to ensure Naruto lives. He’s even willing to let Naruto kill him himself if he so chooses but not before he eliminates all threats to Naruto’s well being.

Bruh what ninja training does Kawaki need bruh?? He got most of his hardcore fighting technique from jigen who just ruthless while training him plus Naruto(Lord Seventh) trained him.
Bro he has Jigen karma. Which means his body has downloaded centuries of fighting skill from jigen as well as Jutsu and overall combat experience. It is bam he’s the goat when you download the goats brain then kill him so it’s all yours. Lmao
He went through hardcore grueling combat drills with Jigen, so his combat is as good as a ninjas if not better. Plus he got shinobi training with Naruto, some shuriken skills and fire style + shadow clone jutsu. And on top of that the karma gives him over a thousand years worth of experience, dont underestimate him.
Idk if y’all been actually watching the manga or series but the Karma’s main purpose is to literally transfer all fighting experience and abilities onto its host.
Which is why kawaki or “kawashiki” was able to over power Boruto, also because boruto decided to wake up at the wrong time.
Apart from that, kawaki was built to be isshikis perfect vessel so Ofcourse kawaki with karma is extremely overpowered.
Meanwhile boruto will just continue to interfere every time momoshiki manifests.

while watching Isshiki vs Kashin Koji and learning about the karma from Amado, Boruto knew his time was short, and made a deal with Kawaki that if he started to lose control, that Kawaki NEEDED to kill Boruto in order to save EVERYONE before Momoshiki was unstoppable again. it's just that they didn't tell Naruto about this at all before hand

yeah , trully a insult to the original series. Sasuke at some point in time , was generally the strongest shinobi in the world after defeating Kaguya. He lost to Naruto cause of his "ninja way" to never give up, talk no Jutsu and all that crap.
Just one thing - It is weird how he used the Rinnengan . Only his swaping jutsu and teleports. 1 Bansho Tenin in general and with Naruto - the chibaku tensei, also once ! Never used all the powers the dojutsu grants, Shinra Tensei , 6 paths with their abilities like summoning , reincarnation, etc etc , he could have done the same as Nagato, made 5 or 6 corpses from the IV war and protect from the "shadows". Imagine using his usual combat style with the dojutsu- Bansho Tenin and kenjutsu (sword) works great , Shinra Tensei with Fireball or Chidori Nagashi. Chibaku tensei combined with Kirin. ETC ETC. In the end he is a cripple with no eye and left - dominant hand. But i doubt that the Rinnengan got destroyed. Its there just damaged, thats why he covers it ALLWAYS with hair.He could have gone to the orphenage and gauged out a Mankekyou Sharingan from a sellection of hundreds of "Shin Uchiha" , or It will return naturally cause he got Hashirama cells or with the help of Orochimaru because in the light novel he created Glasses that can copy any Dojutsu or eye in general. And if he made a shitton of Shins with MS , i think he could crack the rinnengan finese or potentionaly Amado but he is a shady character ,who is suspicious as fuck. So no i think he will be the main villain from the very start , all going according to his will.

Yes Boruto did make impact by allowing Kawaki to land rods, but seems like Momoshiki had literally no idea how to hurt Kawaki since Rasengan was absorbed and in hand to hand combat I would give Kawaki edge in this fight he was landing more.
I think what made this fight closer is because Kawakis body is modified and his abilities. Momo was only using taijutsu and was constanly pressured by Kawakis abilities. Kawaki can absorb ninjutsu all he likes while Momo cant.
