Thanks for tuning in to my lesson on Led Zeppelin's "Friends." Be sure to subscribe to my channel to stay up to date on new Riff Rundowns! Happy playing, and much success to you. =)
This such a cool tune to learn. I'm taking it in bite sizes and remembering to play with intent and clarity. This is my 3rd Led Zeppelin song I've learned from your weekly lessons.
I learned this song here a couple years ago and still come back for a refresher because it’s not a song I play all the time. I have no problem playing Van Halen or Vai, but strumming is such a pain for me but I still enjoy coming back to this song. Thanks for making this lesson, it’s really the best one on YT!😎
Thank you so much for using the term "you all" sometimes. I all, is from Texas all, & it's a bit soothing to my soul to hear such a pretty foreigner from California say "you all." Y'all dig? I saw the Zep Dog of Led 3 times in the 70's, from 72 to 77. Then they never came back. Bummer.
"Its not painful to learn something if you do it incrementally" I always use the metaphor of cake to describe learning a piece of music to students "cut it into slices and enjoy - or it'll make you sick" Saw this from another podcast and it reminds me of Angela's effective teaching.
Wow!!! what an amazing guitar player you are. Sou nds as good as Jimmy. I'm sure he would agree. Thank you Angela for your talents and taste for music. You are an exceptional guitar player and you teach well.
Hey Angela, Love your lessons! how you go in detail on every nuance of the song with striking accuracy. its the best out there. Also, this is one of the few breakdowns of "Friends" never realized the Tuning is the same as Bron-Y-Aur
tune a to g you can play the main melody without having to hold down the C on the A string. it also makes playing the playing the climbing melody easier because the 2 notes are on the same fret not a whole step apart as in the video
actually this one is my most favoured tune of LedZep from my childhood. It brought so much coolness and rich mental images. Thank you Angela, you bring quite a number of eternal tunes of LedZep, ELP, PF, NY. There are some other tunes that I would love to learn from you: Going to California, Ramble On, That's The Way, The Battle of Evermore, Black Country Woman. What do you think of Voodoo Chile? Green River? Run Through The Jungle? Love you channel.
