  • When I grow up, I want to be a farmer so I try my hand at propagation by taking cuttings from our crab apple tree! We really love the jelly we make from this fruit, so this is the best way to make sure we can enjoy it in the future! #HowardsPortugal

Nice video… looks like a success. 🙂 I am about to take some crab apple cuttings.. was wondering when you took these? Thanks!
Also.. off topic… but did you make it to Portugal?

Hi - yes, we are now in beatiful rural Portugal!
It is a bit late for cuttings (or a bit early!) but I am no expert...you are probably best waiting until autumn now, wait for dormancy & take a load of cuttings from this year's growth...put them in sandy soil in a fairly sheltered plave outdoors & some should reward you.
      Cheers!

@@howardsportugal Thanks for the reply! I found a few articles about taking semi-softwood cutting at this time of year so I took a few yesterday… never know until you try right. 🙂 We shall see what happens.
Nice you made it to Portugal. My wife and I do a thing called “work away” where we volunteer at different places during the winter to escape Switzerland. The past few years we have always gone to Spain but we have been considering Portugal. Seems like a nice place as well.
