Everything said in this video is canon EXCEPT:
    - The exact details of the Dark Kut-Ku Incident are embellished, all we know is that hunting Kut-Kus sucked for a while
    - Eastern Kut-Ku being easier to track since they leave fewer holes is made up. I think it makes sense, but no source ever says this.
    - "Kukku-Sensei" is never used in-universe as far as I know and is a nickname sometimes used by japanese players, especially in the older generations.

Kind of ironic that the most common threat to human settlements is not the terrifying King of the Sky that is Rathalos, the embodiment of absolute power that is Tigrex or even elder dragons, but the "lowly" Yian Kut-Ku. I also didn't know about their shrieks being so loud - it never seems to bother Hunters, as it doesn't make them flinch or produce the air-disrupting effect that louder roars do. I suspect those cries keep ordinary folk up at night during the Kut-Ku breeding season, though.
Also, it's an interesting note that Kut-Ku Scales are the only carve-able monster part you can also get from gathering spots - in the Forest & Hills/Verdant Hills, that is.

Got to say, that "Black Wolf" incident legit sounds like a horror story. Those young hunters were sent on what was suppose to be go on a a relatively easy/medium challenge hunt and gain valuable hunting experience, but instead they died a brutal and horrid death due to mistaking a Garuga for a Kut-ku.

A Yian Garuga is as if the spirit and attributes of a Mighty Rathalos was imbued upon a Yian kut-ku. Prolonged flight, venemous tail, Advanced Fire breath, Tough shell, all upon the base of a clever, clever bird wyvern, with an intense love for violence.
However, despite its ferocity, I propose it be used similarly to the Kut Ku; as a training challenge.
For experienced hunters looking to better themselves to reach greater hieghts, when Raths are too predictable and you need a challenge to grow, I suggest seeking out a Yian Garuga quest. While similar superficially to a Rathalos, the fight will teach you many things and keep you challenged throughout, forcing you to grow into a higher state of mind; anticipating moves, Learning on the fly, Focusing every single move you make to a perfect dance of scale and blade untill you have the openings you need to achieve victory. It will allow valuable growth for experienced hunters looking to become true experts.

I've always been a fan of Garuga, among other things because it feels like you're up against an actually intelligent fighter.
For instance, most large monsters will use their roars merely as a threat display or emotional outlet, but Yian Garuga seem to know that their shrieks are capable of temporarily stunning hunters and put that knowledge to use. They scream in order to set up their opponent for a toxic tailflip.

Fun fact, in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, there was a Variant to be all metal or silver looking for a Metroid collaboration with Nintendo. MH is known for these types of collabs. You would hunt it so you could get the Samus Aran armor in her suit or in her jumpsuit. It was a reference to Ridley in his metal form. Fact check me in case I missed anything! I definitely remember this fight and it was so much fun. I think they even made custom metallic sounds when fighting it but that could be my false memory of it appearing that amazing at the time

Yian Garuga, one of my favourite monsters... Iceborne gave it the overhaul it needed, 4 Ultimate gave me the best version of its armour (a coloured cloak and great skills) and GU put it in the habitat it first appeared in (Verdant Hills).
as a monster - and likeseveral others, it has everything i'd want if *i* were a monster: fire breath, great protection, the right habitat and a good placement in the food chain.
as a hunter, its armour - 4U's, specifically - has nearly everything i could want in an armour set: a good design - the cloak is an absolute bonus, great Fire Res (most monsters i hunt are fire-breathers), good skills and enough slots to jam the ones the set is missing.
perhaps MH6 will feature Yian Garuga as a Master rank monster? perhaps give us the 4U armour set? (still don't like what Iceborne did with it) will it appear in the Verdant Hills - which i hope they return along with the Marshlands?
i hope all 3 come to pass.

Fun fact: There are 3 primary ways of classifying a species
Phylogenetically; Based on their placement on a taxonomic tree
    Morphologically; Based on physical characteristics
    And most interestingly
Biologically; The ability to reproduce and create viable offspring.
This classification essentially means that rathians/rathalos are the same species as Yian Kut-Ku as they're capable of creating viable offspring. In a lot of cases with hybrids, they only survive if they're proven to have a clear biological advantage to the other two species. In the case of Yian Garuga, it has lower metabolic requirements than a rathalos or rathian, but also more ferocity and defenses than a Yian Kut-Ku. So, in strange environments such as the new world, it's not crazy to assume that Yian Garuga is much more well suited than Yian Kut-Ku which would explain its absence.

I both love and hate Yian Garuga sooo much. 😂 I *love* the concept behind the design. Like many others, I believe It to be the "honey badger" of Monster Hunter. Smaller than most of the other opponents, but still manages to be terrifying and not worth fighting due to It's unrelenting aggression and hard shell, which makes fighting him really tiring and for what? For a morsel of meat in the end, when you're left scarred, exhausted and poisoned? Naaa, not worth It. Better leave alone that weirdo. 😂 I *hate* though having to fight him. The soundtrack of the fight gives me anxiety and ptsd from It's fight in Monster Hunter Freedom back in the day. I still think about how much insults I screamed at It while trying to defeat It. 😂

There's not really a practical difference, it's just different names for the same thing. I think Capcom may have updated the translation.
