I agree wholeheartedly. I recently started playing Monster Hunter World, & while I'm enjoying it a lot, it's all because of Oceaniz that I started playing it. I honestly can't wait for Iceborne, as well as Rise & Sunbreak.

Oceaniz lore hunters: "this monster is/was incredibly strong and literally impossible to defeat without help from outside forces. the reason we have 50 minute limit on hunts is because 50 minutes is one day in game, so a hunt that took 5 minutes still took the better part of 2 hours plus there's the whole fact of the monsters really are That Dangerous, even with the armor, so healing is more like your character saying "oh shit that was close I'm gonna take a shot to calm my nerves after that one
Kind of ironic that the most common threat to human settlements is not the terrifying King of the Sky that is Rathalos, the embodiment of absolute power that is Tigrex or even elder dragons, but the "lowly" Yian Kut-Ku. I also didn't know about their shrieks being so loud - it never seems to bother Hunters, as it doesn't make them flinch or produce the air-disrupting effect that louder roars do. I suspect those cries keep ordinary folk up at night during the Kut-Ku breeding season, though. Also, it's an interesting note that Kut-Ku Scales are the only carve-able monster part you can also get from gathering spots - in the Forest & Hills/Verdant Hills, that is.
Hunters in MH are literally superhuman, they're basically fantasy SPARTAN II's. I'm not joking, they're canonically descendants of bio-engineered super solders from that ancient empire
@@gingermcgingin4106This is POTENTIALLY not true, the key word being "potentially" because that information is from concept information that has yet to be proven either canon or noncanon. Might want to keep that in mind going forward
Got to say, that "Black Wolf" incident legit sounds like a horror story. Those young hunters were sent on what was suppose to be go on a a relatively easy/medium challenge hunt and gain valuable hunting experience, but instead they died a brutal and horrid death due to mistaking a Garuga for a Kut-ku.
Kut Ku taught me how to actualy hunt way back when I first played Freedom Unite. It was brutal but nessessary. And even later in high rank, when you have way better gear, he can still beat you up for good, teaching that every monster must be handled carefully and with respect.
I love these two. Kut-Ku is so quirky and adorable and Garuga one has a really cool theme, and I also like how it’s one of very few bird wyverns that”s a significant threat (and challenge). Loved this one
I love the idea of a weak beginner enemy “coming back” later in the game as an absolute terror and I think yian garuga and kut ku are perfect examples of that
Yian Kut-Ku's been off the bench since GenX. I hope they find a place to bring it back in the next gen of games. He's got a whole new generation of hunters to charm after all.
When Scarred Yian Garuga rapid fires it's fireballs and your character is running between them is still one of the best moments making you feel badass and makes Yian Garuga pretty cool with that attack to fight. Stressful yet fun and badass.
I see Garuga is the Honey Badger of Monster Hunter, something generally smaller then the rest of its competition but due to its sheer levels of aggression and ferocity, but personally I think in an open environment a Rathalos would be able to take downna Garuga, buuuuut change it to a more forested area where Rathalos doesnt have as much room to menuver and I say Garuga wins that
A Yian Garuga is as if the spirit and attributes of a Mighty Rathalos was imbued upon a Yian kut-ku. Prolonged flight, venemous tail, Advanced Fire breath, Tough shell, all upon the base of a clever, clever bird wyvern, with an intense love for violence. However, despite its ferocity, I propose it be used similarly to the Kut Ku; as a training challenge. For experienced hunters looking to better themselves to reach greater hieghts, when Raths are too predictable and you need a challenge to grow, I suggest seeking out a Yian Garuga quest. While similar superficially to a Rathalos, the fight will teach you many things and keep you challenged throughout, forcing you to grow into a higher state of mind; anticipating moves, Learning on the fly, Focusing every single move you make to a perfect dance of scale and blade untill you have the openings you need to achieve victory. It will allow valuable growth for experienced hunters looking to become true experts.
I've always been a fan of Garuga, among other things because it feels like you're up against an actually intelligent fighter. For instance, most large monsters will use their roars merely as a threat display or emotional outlet, but Yian Garuga seem to know that their shrieks are capable of temporarily stunning hunters and put that knowledge to use. They scream in order to set up their opponent for a toxic tailflip.
Ok now that explains why Garuga has the same movesets as the Rathian. Such as the three fireball attacks and tail attacks. It's because of mimicry, and not kutku had a riz with a rathian 😅
hey oceaniz, ive been a fan of your content since your first monster hunter documentary, and i thank you for the knowledge you've given me and all other monster hunter fans out here, keep it up bud 😊 👍🏼
I love this ecology series so much. The main reason I like monster hunter so much are the monsters themselves so having a video where all of their data is not only avalible but presented in such a great way is so incredible.
Yes, I remember facing the Kut-Ku in Freedom Unite and seeing it as somewhat of a wall at first. After all it was the first time I played MH and the Kut-Ku was the first monster that took a while to defeat...
Garuga is one of my favorite monsters. It's hunting horn in 4U is my favorite monster hunter weapon. It was not the "best" horn, but the design and sound was so good.
Fun fact, in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, there was a Variant to be all metal or silver looking for a Metroid collaboration with Nintendo. MH is known for these types of collabs. You would hunt it so you could get the Samus Aran armor in her suit or in her jumpsuit. It was a reference to Ridley in his metal form. Fact check me in case I missed anything! I definitely remember this fight and it was so much fun. I think they even made custom metallic sounds when fighting it but that could be my false memory of it appearing that amazing at the time

(still don't like what Iceborne did with it) will it appear in the Verdant Hills - which i hope they return along with the Marshlands? i hope all 3 come to pass.
