I had a 09 cfmoto clone of a Honda helix I bought for 300. Put it back together and rode it for 6 months. I had it up to 75mph here in central florida. I guess I did it to much to often. I blowed the rings on piston. It lost power but kept running, and I limped home, about 2 miles. Then it pucked out back through the intake and air cleaner. Oh well it was a blast for a while.
So you pushed to 79MPH in one gear. The suspension and revs felt a little on the edge!! I guess with little mods you could reach 85 or 90. I think Helix are great bikes. Thanks for the video. Be safe!!!!
Yes, i was able to reach 79 twice within this video and one of the times the suspension was wallowing around a right hand bend it was pretty sketchy and if you watch I backed off the throttle immediately. I really need to replace all four shocks they are extremely worn out.
@@hondawarrior5714 Its amazing how it can work so efficient on scooters. IN the case of the Helix the start point is not very fast but then it can develop good speeds for such a big bike. I miss mine, Im really tinking about getting another.
A cvt is an analog gear shifter and most scooters 250cc and under have them. It holds the same rpm while speeding up for the most effective power and efficiency. The largest cvt vehicle that I know of is the Yamaha majesty 400
Yo! I just picked up a 97 and i love it, I;d love to get togther with some other helix riders and do some day trips tp milwaukee ior st joe or madison. hmu!
I got one of these to show 81. Checked the speedometer at 50 mph with a GPS. It was reading 1 to 2 mph high. So I was really doing about 78 mph. Not bad for a scooter with 37,000 miles. I think a worn down front tire is the cause of the error. I'm going to do the math for an increase in measured tire rotation due to a smaller diameter worn tire.
Mine was also about 2-3% high. I think that's normal for these bikes. Most vehicles actually read about 10% off, although the odometer is pretty accurate. i think the error is deliberate to make the machines seem faster than they really are.

This bike is water cooled and the radiator is getting direct air flow at the nose of the bike. In regular city driving is when it runs warmest due to lack of air flow to the radiator. On highway it is getting maximum air flow and therefore maximum cooling effect.

@@hondawarrior5714 Well, unless team motorsports ripped me off by using a cheapo belt (or never replaced it at all) it has less than 8,000 miles on it.
Try to get a higher rated tire if possible. A Pirelli Angel Scooter Tire is great quality / higher rated. If you're light or lightly loaded just back off on air pressure. I'm running at 30 psi tire says it COULD handle 587# @ 33 psi cold. But my Burgman 400 Scoot weighs 420# + 200# rider = 620-650# (add cargo) but over 2 tires that's gonna be 200#-ish on front, so rear = 420#. As that's a good bit below max load, I can lower PSI accordingly.
Never heard of this scooter.

By the way, it only has a CVT transmission like most scooters so it is only one gear at any given speed
