@@KCFarms Ducks are getting really big. How old will they be before they start laying? Looks like we have mostly drakes. Pretty sure we have at least 2-3 hens though.

We got a late start on our garden too, but it’s growing like crazy now. 👍 We processed our meat birds last weekend. They just didn’t grow out like our first batch. We lost 4 big roosters in one day at 6 weeks old too. 🤷‍♀️ We used general meat bird grower on the first batch and organic feed on this last batch. We went from a whopping average of 6.6 lbs down to an average of 4.5 lbs.. I wasn’t real happy with this last batch from the start, but we have meat in the freeer so we should be thankful. Love y’alll’s videos. 👍

Thanks! Did you raise Cornish or freedom rangers?

@@KCFarms Our’s we’re Cornish - both batches, same hatchery too. I have a feeling we had different aged chicks too. There was a obvious size difference from the start. Then we lost the 4 biggest birds at “6 weeks”. I suspect they were older. With Cornish 1-2 weeks is a huge difference in age/size. I’m really wondering about the low growth rate on the rest of the batch though. I don’t know if we had poor quality birds, or if the feed (general meat bird feed vs organic non-GMO) really makes that much difference. The organic feed was a 22% feed. 🤷‍♀️

Took me awhile to raise chickens. Now I’m having a hard time growing vegetables lol. Your garden looks great compared to mine.

Trust me the gardens aren’t great. Smaller is better for me a lot easier to manage and get some success

Honestly the benefit in my opinion to the freedom ranger is not in the meat. Is the fact that they are almost a dual purpose bird in my experience they'll lay moderately well

Your peppers are looking great compared to mine. Tomatoes look fantastic. I’m waiting for your opinion about the rangers.

Been a while. Our area is on fire (Caldor Fire). So we evacuated. Even though the freedom rangers take longer to grow out. I find the flavor better than Cornish cross. I usually plant a heavy cover crop, which supplements the feed.
