I was listening to the same stuff and even some metal type stuff and a friend of mine left this CD in my car and I was hooked to the entire album and even to this day it's one of my favorite albums.... pretty cool to hear somebody with almost the exact same story LOL
Same fuckin thing, except I just discovered them about a month ago. I think Tool just does something to the brain, makes you more open to new experiences.

Today it is Google, Apple, social media and money earned per Concert per unit of time. Being a great artist is something the most unknown people are great at, being a great artist, being loved and keeping a large following is what makes great bands continue to have a following or even be remembered. Sneaker Pimps prominence disappeared when Kelly was pushed aside. They pushed aside their future ability to make money because people wanted Kelly singing with the Sneaker Pimps sound. Not the reverse.
She did solo stuff. Rocking Horse was a good album . The Kiss was a great song. Sunshine in The Rain was popular trance . The Ghost Driver never got finished, and That was it...

Kelli Ali (nee Dayton) did not write any of the songs for the Sneaker Pimps. She was brought in as vocalist well after the entire album was written, reduced to demo and recording contract was signed. Not putting her down in any way. Just keeping the record straight. She was fabulous in her front role, better than any of the guys have ever been at lead vocals. Chris Corner is the principal genius behind this band and writes and sings all vocals to this day. Liam Howe is often a co-writer and does all the keys/electronics.

The setlist was similarly very short which I thought at the time was due to the fact that the band was being disrespected by the audience. If I am remembering correctly, the band threatened several times to leave the stage since the audience was throwing crap at them.

Becoming X was a great album and Kelli Alis vocals were brilliant on it, but she didn't write the songs Liam Howe and Chris Corner did (with lyrics also by Ian Pickering). They produced pretty much the whole album and Chris sang on the demos and then decided that a female vocal would work better. After lots of touring and burnout they returned to the write a follow up and Chris wanted to sing the songs he had written this time round. They were producing together as Line Of Flight before Sneaker Pimps. The follow up album Splinter was (at least in my opinion) a great record just more of a band record whereas Becoming X was definitely a more computer heavy production. Her vocals certainly wouldn't have suited Splinter IMHO.
I've been on a Sneaker Pimps feast just recently, and it's a real shame the narrative that is spun as it sheds a really bad light on the creative entity as a whole. I'm glad to see both Chris and Kelly are still creating music and video, let's hope for a collab in the future.

True, but she was (and is) a charismatic front woman. I bought a Pukkelpop ticket just to see them live. And judging from a stack of Kelly Ali albums, she could write too. So ousting her still is a tragedy in my humble opinion. As is the demise of the whole triphop scene (and the (neo)-soul scene). Creativity at it's best.
I saw that movie just because of the music. And the Volvo C90 involved. But it was okay. Especially since I was the only one in the theater. Payed for 2 tickets. 😂
